I created a Trader and I am playing the market like everyone else.

What have other people done as a Trader after they have finished the Trader skills?

I am a pretty new character so I am not finished or close to finishing the Trader line but I want to plan out my character. I have VERY High Int/Memory/Charisma. I think my Perc/Will both started out at 3 or 4. Just by looking at the Pirmary/Secondary attributes for each group of skills my options are.

Corporation management: MEM/CHA(Currently not in a Corp)
Electronics: INT/MEM
Engineering: INT/MEM
Industry: MEM/INT
Mechanic: CHA/INT
Science: INT/MEM
Social: CHA/INT

So basically my skills are built to go into these categories. Science or Industry seems like the logical place to go to make more money.

What kind of limitations does my char have with Perc/Will being so low if I were to jump into Science or Industry?

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Edited by: Ami Nia on 19/08/2008 00:20:41
edit: spelling

This started as a reply to this thread but it became pretty long and I think there's enough new information to grant a separate thread on this evergreen topic.

Of course reading the stickies is still compulsory. Especially the Attributes & Skills Guide by Hardin & Tripoli.

First of all a note about implants.
If you can afford them, they are really worth it. At least the +3 set (maybe short of the charisma implant) I highly recommend. When exactly is best to train for them really depends on what your starting skills are, especially because Science 3 is a prerequisite to training Cybernetics and some races/careers combinations will give you Science 3 upfront, while others will not give Science at all.
EveMon can help you to find out. If you are unsure and want a general rule do this:

- If you can only afford a +3 set or less (maybe short of the charisma implant) go for Cybernetics 1 right after Analytical Mind 2 (see below).
- If you can only afford a +4 set (maybe short of the charisma implant) go straight for Cybernetics 4 right after Analytical Mind 3 (see below).
- If you can afford a +5 set (maybe short of the charisma implant), I presume you can also shell out the isks for two extra +3 implants. In this case go for Cybernetics 1 right after Analytical Mind 2, then plug in +3 intelligence and memory. You'll use them until you trained Logic 4 then train up Cybernetics 5 and plug in the +5 implants (note: it may be a good idea to train Infomorph Psychology I and pay for a Jump Clone service to spare those +3s as they may come in handy later on).

In any case, you need not buy/plug in any implant but intelligence and memory until Part 3.

A little note: the above is not strictly rigorous and optimal for all cases but is pretty much on the spot as a "general rule". To squeeze out the very best training time down to the last minute you need to actually do the hard math on a case by case basis. Plus "uber optimal" can actually be nonsense. Unless you are willing to do things like spend for two +4 implants to be used only for the training of Cybernetics 5 (if you are that sort of crazy, then there's a fee of 50 million isk for reading this post, payable to me).

Now for the actual skills.

*** Part 1, the intelligence/memory/learning triage.

Instant Recall 1
Analytical Mind 1
Learning 1
Instant Recall 2
Analytical Mind 2
Learning 2
Instant Recall 3
Analytical Mind 3
Learning 3
Instant Recall 4
Eidetic Memory 1
Eidetic Memory 2
Eidetic Memory 3
Analytical Mind 4
Logic 1
Logic 2
Logic 3
Learning 4
Eidetic Memory 4
Logic 4
Instant Recall 5
Analytical Mind 5
Learning 5
Eidetic Memory 5
Logic 5

You should train at least to Logic 3 ASAP (to Learning 4 if you use implants).
Train to Logic 4 if you are staying for more than a few months.
Train to Analytical Mind 5 if you are staying for more than 8-10 months (to Learning 5 if you use implants).
Train Eidetic Memory 5 and Logic 5 only if you know you'll stay for several years AND you have implants (or if you plan to just sell the character).

... continues ...

http://ineve.net/skills/character.php?charID=MTUxNDc5Mjk0Nw

Here am I and I stand at a massive crossroads a bit confused in this station I am in right now. I am trying to figure out right now what ship i should move myself into, or if i should work up skills to better fit the Drake.

90% of the time I simply sit in a belt and guard my miner/industrial other character.

The other 10% of the time I am running missions. I am running level 3's. As my miner is now in a hulk and able to handle drones for npc defense fine (high sec empire space) I no longer really need to keep a bcs on standby to overkill the rats with couple missles.

Currently I own the following

6 Caracal's
-Two packaged
-two in t2 heavy launchers
-two in t1 heavy launchers

2 Drake's
-one packaged
-one fitted T2 everything i can

BPC for Raven
-just about half the minerals for it.

My problem is this..
I dont know enough about ships or pve yet here in eve.. only been playing on and off little under a year. ..to know what is best for mission running in and around the high/low sec areas. PC Pirates are not an issue, nor is ship loss for i can replace what gets blown up in a few days of mining and get more bpc's to replace what gets blown up.

I just would rather not get into the habit of spending half a week to replace 2 ships i lost in missions.

So basically my question is this. What should I do.
Cerberus, Drake, Manticore, Nighthawk, Raven are the five that capture my interest the most. I already know that I have outgrown the Caracal's.

My short term goal it to continue running these L3's until I can run the L4's and get my standings up enough to get a couple clones with the Sisters of Eve. I want to do that as quickly as possible in the best ship possible for the job.

My long term goal is the Nighthawk to boost the other ships in my corp's fleet, currently i have the best leadership skills of anyone within my corp. So its either get that ship or roll an alt once my hauler acct gets up to freighter that is a pure leadership person.

I dont plan on ever going into 0.0 aside from the odd mission that may send me there. Im looking to gear just for pve for right now as well.

Looking at my skills I could spend a few months and max out the relivent missle skills and shield skills. but beside that I have absolutly no clue. All that I have pritty much done thus far is train missile skills. rat or run missions and shoot missles at range and blow stuff up before they get close to me to hit me. Only problem now is the L3s that I am running hurt my shields rather baddly.. Ive had a couple i needed to go back to station for to recharge cap due to t2 med shield and 4 of the range booster mid slot things draining all me cap. I can shoot 145ish km away from me fairly effectivly but the missions i end up with all send me to the middle of a bunch of ships that tear thru my shields.

The Drake I am in worked fine for the L2 missions, they were a cakewalk in it.. but these L3s are almost beyond me.

My thought is to finishing building the raven and optomize it, but i heard from a few people that the drake is the ship to be using as a missle caldari for L3 missions.

Sorry its so long winded but im half asleep at the now.

Now I put my own skills in, and I come up a little over 23 PG short. Astounded at this since I thought I maxed out all the PG skills, I go through my list and see what I could possibly have missed. I came up with nothing.

Note here, that I came up short not because of skills related to reducing PG requirements on modules, but that my base PG is somehow less than the theoretical max according to EFT. Yes I have engineering at V, and no the recon ships don't get any ship bonuses to PG.

So I turn to you guys, could someone kindly make a list of all the skills that INCREASES your pg? I must have missed a skill and left it at IV or something =/

Edited by: dietzen on 16/08/2008 20:18:42
Edited by: dietzen on 16/08/2008 20:11:03
Hello all, been browsing these forums and decided to post a question that's been bugging me:
I have been playing for about a week now, and I've been building my main for missions/pvp.(Minmatar/Seb/tink) I have 889k sp, and am 4 days away from having all basic learnings at lvl 4. But, I Have been thinking that my attributes are not very balanced. Given the fact that I haven't invested a ton of time into this character, I was wondering if it would be worth it to just start fresh with a more attribute balanced start. Att's are as follows:

Char- 7
Int- 16
Per- 12
Mem- 9
Will- 8

So, any thoughts or suggestions?

Also, when training ship or support skills, should i be training them to V?- or is it better to just train them to IV and use the extra time to train different skills?

Thanks

I'm looking to get my skills up enough to reasonably pvp in a dominix. So far I can use Ogre IIs, and I'll be able to use T2 armor hardeners by tomorrow. After that I'm planning on getting my targeting, navigation, and armor compensation skills up. Is there anything else I should look into?

My Skills

What to train? - by Janus Duo

Okay, I'm stumped. I don't know what to train next on my main Corwain (currently inactive). I already have amazing support skills for all races. I can fit T2 Shield and Armor tanking skills. I can fly Recons, Covops, and HACs. I've got Amarr Cruiser V and Minnie Cruiser V. I've got Gallente BS V. I've got Recon V. Heck, I've got Gallente Industrial V. I can fit all T2 turrets up to medium size, and I can fit Large T2 hybrids. I can use T2 Heavy drones and below. I have BC V. I have all the prereqs for Gallente capships including having jump skills trained despite not actually being able to board capitals, however I find capitals to be very boring. I can fly Gallente recons and HACs on Janus here so I'm not really interested in that. I love PvP, and have a secret PvE alt that can fly Caldari Mauraders and fit all T2 missiles and shields and has a full HG Crystal set in his head, so don't really want to do that on Corwain. Oh, also have 1 decently skilled covert/probing character too.

I'm very very bored. Please find me something to do with my training time.
