Firefox 3 seems slower than previous incarnations and when opening the initial instance of the browser, is extremely long. Win has been asleep at the wheel again, rehashing the cool features of Firefox and others. Also, it seems to be only available to Vista users (Vista = FAIL.) With yet another "comply or die" push to Vista.

Google's latest release seems to be amazing fast both in opening the app and page loading. A new compiler and dynamic caching so that the properties and functions of the Java code are optimized and extremely fast. Pages loading 3x faster and Routines Per Minute so fast that I almost doubt the impartiality of the benchmark routines used.

New features; such as Web as App. Multi threading so that if one tab crashes the entire browser is not effected. The ability to drag a tab out of a browser and/or consolidate by dragging one instance of chrome into another via tabs. Safer rendering of pages that do not use permissions or mess with your registry to add another line of security. Allot of bookmark stuff such as a tab page showing 9 of your top visited sites and a bunch of book marking elements.

Is anyone else using this? What has been your experience? We've all heard the hype of web 2.0 and cloud computing but are these new capabilities of Chrome the practical launching point people are looking for?

More importantly, has chrome failed to do something? What can't it do? Well, windows updates for one. What else? Eve forums and all of EVE seem to work perfectly on Chrome. Is there a page or function here or battleclinic, eve-central or eve-commander in that it won't work on?

BTW mad props to all you freelance and indi web devs, who over the years, have taken your own time to make this game extra interesting and fun by your multifaceted approach and utilitarian functions.

Basically you get insta pwnd by anything anywhere and the further you go out from your home system the more rewards you get but you get insta pwned more often.

Oh but there is like tiny spots where you can be safe.

There is no tutorial .. nothing to explain how the Ui works ... it just puts you in the middle of it and you have to figure out wtf you are doing.

I originally had a passively cooled (silent) Radeon x1650, up until about a year ago, where I upgraded to a passively cooled (silent) nVidia 7600GT.

Not sure what to go for next. The nVidia 9600's look nice, but I've heard that there are seriously reliability problems when they get hot (especially if passively cooled).

Any recommendations? I'm preferably after something in the region of 100-125, passively cooled (silent). Doesn't matter if AMD/ATI or nVidia.

What I do the rest of the time - Vote for a Jita bypass!

As far as the taste in books, I really loved (and have read at least 2 or 3 times) the following:

Terri Pratchett Diskworld - AAA+++ would read again!
Peter Hamilton's works (Nightdawn trilogy, Commonwealth trilogy)
Alastair Reynolds, all books (Pushing Ice, Galactic North, Prefect, Revelation series, etc)
Ian M Banks (Consider Phlebeas, Use of Weapons, Player of Games, Matter).
Larry Niven (Ringworld books, Destiny Road)
Tad Williams, War of the Flowers. Wonderful fantasy-ish book.
Heinlein young adult works (Methusias Children, etc).
Glen Cook, Black Company (Chronicles and South Campaign).
Neil Gaiman works.
Stephenson's Showcrash, Cryptonomicon.

So-so books:
Engineer Trilogy (KJ Parker)...read through the Devices and Desires, could not bring myself to buy the other ones.
Ahem...Michael Crichton. He gets some books (like Airframe) right, gets some wrong.
John Scalzi, Old Man's War (aka "Starship Troopers" with a different title)
The Hyperion and Return to Hyperion. Started out with a great idea, got kind of slow for me at the end.

Books I've hated:
David Weber. I can't read his writing...
Tad Williams, Otherworld series. Managed to read through first 1.5 books, got extremely bored.
Heinlein, Lazarus Long books (Number of the Beast, etc)...too preachy and boring.
Storm Constantine's Wraeththu. I really hope this trilogy gets past the "gay" sex at some point. The only way for me to finish it would be while stoned.

Has anyone read any of the Turtledove alternative history books? As a some kind of general rule I tend to stay the hell away from reading material by people who fill more than 1 bookshelf at the bookstore (the whole quality vs quantity thing), I'm considering giving him a try.

Any other suggestions?

Basically the M4 has had its day, and servicemen around the world are starting to question its reliability vs. other more modern weapons, but the US Government refuses to take these new weapon systems on even though these other rifles are proven to be better in Government testing? And is about to buy another shipment of M4's from Colt when the 416 is Cheaper! Either there stupid or some people in the DOD have shares in Colt?

We (UK) werent much better, but at least we caved in and let H&K improve the L85 (even though we should have just bought the G36)
