Just an aside. At the time of the disbanding the only person with full director roles in GoonFleet (the executor corporation of GoonSwarm) was Darius (the CEO) and his alts. I'm pretty sure zapawork, our current CEO, is setup similarly.

and it was TOTALLY okay for BoB to use spies in goonswarm to offline their towers?

Let's be honest here. If a goon director walked up to Molle and proposed to hit the magic disband button, do you honestly think he'd say no?

Don't be ridiculous. He'd let go of all his bodily excretions in his pants in a nanosecond.

Now, I'm not fully in the know of who or what, but from what I have been able to glean, this wouldn't even have happened had the bobbits not been asshats to haarg to begin with. What goes around...

I move that this is irrelevant, since both sides employed these tactics, and in the case of the magic disband buttons the option was available to both sides. It's just that BoB did not manage to turn a Goon director before it happened to them, and believe me, if they could have... they most certainly would have.

In addition to that, regardless of what haargoth did, nobody can honestly claim that BoB was doing well even before that fateful day, constant mistreating of pets (and indeed sneering at "pubbies") left them with few friends and fewer still that were capable of assisting them in their endeavours.

If you think that BoB "lost the war" due to anything other than it's own overconfidence and arrogance, and the sheer and unimaginable persistance of the goonies, you are severely deluded.

BoB's "e-honour" has been dead for a long time. Molle and the bobbit leadership backstabbed it whenever they saw an advantage in doing so, and repeated the process many times over the years. As for the rank-and-file pilots: no doubt most of you are decent chaps, but you knew what your alliance was about or you willfully pretended not to, because triumph mattered more to you than honor.

I think he means the betrayal they did their pets throughout the years taking the "best" members while abusing the relationship to their own end before disowning them, all the while seeding the discontent most of eve have with BoB/Kenny due to exploits/game mechanic abuse which was before unknown to any other players that and destroying those who were weakest.

I understand we will both see things differently and both through two sets of rose tinted spectacles but imo:

Ever since the "there is no spoon post" BOB change.

From my memory, you were the first to offline a hostile (FA) pos using a spy, then anchor your own to kill anyone who logged in.

The first to try and publicly destroy players on these forums with repeated posts/sigs (John Mcreedy, Seleene etc).

The first to plan to kill a supercap while it was logged off (D2 Titan).

Those are the things I can remember off the top of my head but at the time, these actions really pushed the boundries on what gone before.

And to sum up, I am sure the rank and file of original BOB members only wanted good fights. But the leadership, Molle in particular only wanted to win, no matter what. That has been clear, for me anyway, for a long time.

I didn't fight this war (well, I've been helping to clean out towers in 49-, but that doesn't count), but I've followed the conflict between BoB and Goonfleet since it was new. Also, BoB (through MC) helped kill my first alliance (The Big Blue), so I've been following them on and off for most of the time I've played Eve. Based on that outsider's knowledge, here's my own little post-mortem. It's almost certain to be based on one or two faulty assumptions, but this is CAOD, so v0v

I think that BoB's biggest mistake was a dependence on things that should not have been depended upon. Examples include:

1) A dependence on game mechanics that could be (and often were) changed on short notice.
2) 'Superior' knowledge of said game mechanics and the strategies and tactics that were based on them.
3) A strategy of recruiting the most effective pilots and most valuable resources from their vassals, with the intention of shifting all local strength to themselves.
4) The belief that their reputation (combined with the previous brain drain) would be enough to keep their vassals/pets/allies surbordinate to their will.
4) The belief that they could do whatever they liked to weaker alliances without consequence.
5) Finally, the belief that the safeguards placed within corporate/alliance mechanics (for exmaple, shares) could be ignored or avoided for the sake of expediency (or for whatever reason).

Also, I think that there was a dependence on the 'batphone' (direct or semi-direct contact with the development team) and idea that they had an understanding of the direction that the development team wanted to the game to take. I don't mean that in a "the devs liked BoB best" way. I mean it more in the sense that many of BoB's old guard were recruited from among people started playing during a time when the player base was smaller, when player/dev relationship was much more collegial and when the walls that exist now between game maker and game player weren't nearly as high as they are today.

The players who formed what became BoB (and other players from that time) were able to contact the developers with their suggestions, complaints and ideas and have a high expectation that they were being listened to. This isn't cheating, but it can foster a belief in players that they DO help control to some degree. Getting a line to God for events (that provided generous rewards), a heads-up on new features that provided massive potential for profit and other similar phenomenon occured back before most of us had even heard of Eve, but they provided a massive advantage to those players that benefited from them.

The fact that old-school members (many of whom formed the backbone of BoB) took advantage this largess isn't, in my opinion, cheating. I can't blame them for taking advantage of the goodies that the devs handed out back then. In their position, I'd have done exactly the same thing, and I would have used every inch of the advantage that such things provided me. It was short-sighted on the part of the developers, but I can understand why they wanted to do special things for the Eve community. I think that, by and large, CCP has done its best to level the playing field. I don't think BoB's founding members ever thought that their advantages would be erased so quickly, but it turns out that what Molle used to say was right: Those who cannot adapt become victims of evolution. He just forgot to take his own advice.

Okay, feel free to pick that apart. It's almost certainly wrong on one level or another. Also, in before TL;DR.

I have had the privilege to fight the GBC during more than 2 years, amongst a lot of brothers in arms, and I never witnessed any cheating, on the field or elsewhere. We still like a good fair fight and I certainly hope BoB players will recover and keep the game challenging.

I'm struggling to avoid making this all sound like the bitter rantings of a defeated entity, because that really isn't how I feel. I am trying to put forward my personal thoughts as honestly and clearly as I can.

If anything I am probably more interested in Eve now than at any time this year (not that I have been unable to play much, but I don't really want to go in to that - suffice to say it has nothing to do with ingame events).

I'm struggling to avoid making this all sound like the bitter rantings of a defeated entity, because that really isn't how I feel. I am trying to put forward my personal thoughts as honestly and clearly as I can.

This isn't an "iQuit" post either, so don't uncork that champagne just yet!
If anything I am probably more interested in Eve now than at any time this year (not that I have been unable to play much, but I don't really want to go in to that - suffice to say it has nothing to do with ingame events).

Change is always interesting and challenging, and I am looking forward to it.

true but bob was always playing on honour, white knight card always saying they do it by skill etc. and they were first to use metagaming as valid option.

Too much failures from fail alliances was recruited that way. But even that was survivable as long as bob leadership had strength and activity for the game. All you needed is soldiers who can listen. Read fit and everything on forum and listen to the fc. And that worked. Problem was that old fcs were getting burned. Be it too much rl obligations, boredom with eve, wanting to try something new or whatever, they were simply leaving. And there was no good replacements. I dont think there is a single good fc that joined bob in last 1-2 years ? (not sure when waagaa joined but still he is 1 person). Good fcs from other corps wanted challenge, and there is no bigger challenge then fighting top1 alliance :) So they were going to anti bob corps/alliances.

During the time anti bob "movement" was growing. Plenty of incidents helped that. T20 was just one of them. Then their metagaming. Bob of all times has changed. They were not winning just by ingame skill. The concept of their players changed. They wanted wins at any costs, wannabes thinking among their ranks has overthrown their old style wanting good fights. Ofc good fights was still used meme but the things show different.

They used ingame exploits, ccp info, direct involvement from devs anything at all to get advantage. Not everyone ofc but some low lifes. The problem was that low lifes among their ranks were tolerated instead of punished and kicked. Dishonouring 1vs1 deals, stealing from their own members and such things made their old members slowly start to leave and get fed up. And fresh blood wasnt good enough to carry the burden of top dog pvp alliance. Forum propaganda and smacktalking didnt help that either. As last resort they even allied alliance they were constantly smacktalking to previous years calling them exploiters, ebayers etc. But when they needed their help they changed the tape.

I will not go in strategic mistakes they did and the battles and wars they lost. Its game, you win some you lose some. Its important to remain "the man" during that time and keep your dignity and honour and not eat your own words.

Im out of this conflict for quite some time due to my inactivity but i do feel like an arch enemy is gone. Since the FA days i disliked bob for the backstab they did to that alliance. Im sure that lots of people will feel like there is gapping hole now in the place where your enemy is supposed to be no matter at what point they started crusade against bob.

While i agree that you cant kill alliance until leadership do it itself i think that they should close down bob as we know it atm. Lots of people will leave now to try something else, lots of people will retire. regroup yourself and make new alliance and go for something new. Or just disband and let every corp find their own fun. After all you must admit that your opponents defeated you.

If you regroup and continue as bob again with same allies (at least those who survive) it will be against the same superblob shhit. Give a chance to eve politics to change the maps. To change the relations between alliance. To make new wars. Then after some time when you regroup as somenone new take your chance again to build it all over again. But maybe this time be carefull and not recruit wannabes that apply :P.

gg for all involved sides. This war was the most epic war in eve and hopefully will remain that for long time in future. Now there is great potential to brake all coalitions and make eve much more fun again without superblobs.

Outcome was inevitable for quite some time and was more the question of time when it will happen. Imho Molle should admit defeat, disband bob as we know it, and if there is enough interested people make something new and not try to be never ending alliance (FIX type).

This way bob will remain remembered as major power which died in the greatest conflict in mmorpg world. If they go the FIX way i am afraid that with the time people will forget their past achievements and might.

You can love them or hate them but the fact is that they was a long period while bob was the msot proffesional and strongest alliance. That was due to having lots of vets and extraordinary command and their professional behavior. Their enemies were not on that level, neither the leadership nor the ordinary members.

In the beggining bob had bunch of expirienced pvpers, people who knew their job and were lead by great fcs. Plenty of eve legends were among their ranks working on signle mission, making the greatest alliance of all the time. And they were good at it as they were among first to realise that internet spaceships are serious business.

Bob had it all, not just the pvp side. They had great economy too.
Their leadership was doing awesome job in every aspect. Except the politics...

One among the first things bob became famous for is backstabbing of allies when it suits them. There are many that felt that on their own back. Thou still plenty who were still sticking to bob simply being too scared that they would be certainly ****d by them otherway.

Backstabbing allies created lot of hatred over time broadwise whole eve. People are fluctuating, changing corps, alliances etc and spread their opinions. Their allies could never be 100% sure that they wont be "sacrified" at some point. And thats not good diplomacy thing as if there is no relation based on trust and stability and safety in someone it has to break down eventually.

Second thing that didnt go in their favour was arrogance. It was semi acceptable in the start, when they really were above their enemies in majority of aspects. But during the time bob was recruiting and absorbing people from their pets alliances and from alliances they killed. Ofc there were some decent players there but most of them were wannabes who wanted easy "i win button" and be part of something great without much effort. And they were all behaving like they are responsible for everything bob has done and like they were part of it, while most of them wasnt even "alive in game" at that time. Ie they were taking credits and basing their arrogancy on the work old bobbits did. They took the "right" for that by simply wearing the ticker.

Seriously, will you STFU. We readily recognize that we didnt kill BoB under conventional warfare. We have never claimed that we killed BoB in such a manner. We take great pride in the fact that we took down BoB by way of Director, it makes it all the sweeter and more in line with Goon tactics. Get over it already. F*&king pets/ alts

My question, if they're giving up all their Sov space, will they reclaim the BoB alliance title?

I can't exactly say GF as I wasn't involved, but I will say it was certainly entertaining watching the happenings from up here in empire space. And what is impressive? Maybe when BoB killed FA, or ASCN (at least they did warn ASCN to reset standings), or maybe when NC fought INSRG out of Branch.. .
Aliances that really did something impressive without the use of metagamimg are: The Five conquering the north and Triumvirate when they conquered Deklein.
By BoB standards, goons did a very cunning and smart move; if for example the goons victim would've been AAA or Sons of Tanga, i'm sure Molle would've congratulated goons for a nice move.

Well there does seem to be a few people out there with short memories.
A few years ago the forums were full of Bob posts and properganda.
Ok the posts were more intelegent than those used by the goons but the reason behind them exactlly the same.
Bob were the undisputed champions of total war.
By that I mean espionage forum proprganda and military strengh combined.

As to the downfall of the once mighty empire to blame it on a single action of a defector would be pure folly,rather like those who pin the fall of the Roman empire entirely on the defeat to the Goths at Adrianople.

Kenzoku had:

1. allies
2. full moon coverage
3. multiple titan support
4. a cyno jammer

What did they do the moment a fair sized fleet was rallied during euro prime?

Now what that has to do with Haargoth or the events of a few months ago might just be beyond my pathetic goon brain to comprehend.

49- is not in Delve, its a station in Querious that Kenzoku took back from us in one of their only offensive attempts in the past months. Why they gave up on this is beyond me, but it was a gain made well after any 'disgruntled director' activity.

Still not sure how being a 'sacrificial lamb' equates to 'defending space you fought for' but whatever. Last time they wanted to fight over 49- they ran to the forums proclaiming how they had >1000 pilots at the ready. At most we had 2-300 the last few days at our peak. Should have been an easy job.

1. The better ones (if thats not a contradiction in terms) might be allowed top stay as renters/pets.

2. They are finished, constituent Alliances/Corps will die over the next few months, though you never know they might try and take Syndicate .

I think everyone got a lesson from the result of posts like Pendulum and Silence. Every time Molle posted, we were getting double numbers in NC fleets. Especially the "Silence" Post got us from around 100 to 300 I think. Thanks Molle!

I just want to congratulate the Northern Coalition and Goonswarm (both of whom are enemies) with their victory over BoB/KENNY. I personally doubted whether you would be able to achieve this and am surpirsed you have.

In early February Haargoth reset Sov in Delve and then solo sieged hundreds of towers, killed scores of hostile capitals, repped hundreds of POS, organized a large coalition of forces from around the universe (to do nothing since he was doing all the work solo but I guess he had some spare time), hauled POS fuel, dropped towers and destroyed entire Kenny fleets. All we've been doing since then is posting on CAOD and playing TF2 and L4D. Thanks Haargoth!!! We will take all the credit now.

Disbanding BoB had lots to do with showing up to defend 49- let me tell you.

Kenzoku had:

1. allies
2. full moon coverage
3. multiple titan support
4. a cyno jammer

What did they do the moment a fair sized fleet was rallied during euro prime?

Now what that has to do with Haargoth or the events of a few months ago might just be beyond my pathetic goon brain to comprehend.

49- is not in Delve, its a station in Querious that Kenzoku took back from us in one of their only offensive attempts in the past months. Why they gave up on this is beyond me, but it was a gain made well after any 'disgruntled director' activity.

Still not sure how being a 'sacrificial lamb' equates to 'defending space you fought for' but whatever. Last time they wanted to fight over 49- they ran to the forums proclaiming how they had >1000 pilots at the ready. At most we had 2-300 the last few days at our peak. Should have been an easy job.

Maybe cos you tryed for 3 years to take delve but couldnt? pretty shows how broke this whole POS thing is, every alliance makes excuses why people dont show up for ops for awhile "o people are on holiday or have exams etc etc etc" no its cos taking down 20 undefended pos's in a system that someone spammed up the night before is insanely dull

There was a point where the Coalition was on the verge of losing Querious, GKC came with 1000 strong fleet took back 49-u, next attacked 9cg which many thought we'd lose, then i1y. But that kind of participation didn't last on GKC side. While Goon Coalition always had 200-300 throughout the war, basically peaking at 600-700. Don't say GKC didn't stand a chance, it was goons who didn't stand a chance, never had goon coalition gotten a 1400 man fleet going. Goons coalition just wanted it more plain and simple even after being beat and losing 49-u and almost losing i1y they keep coming back with 500 man fleets.

The reich has fallen.

But yeah, talk about going out with a whimper. After the reset, Kenny had the perfect opportunity to fight tooth and nail and show how they could dominate space with their pvp skills. Sov is important, but it's not so essential that you should lose an entire region when it's gone. Instead, they just gave up. Their only "offensive" was when AAA took 49- and almost I1Y for them. Kenny's response to this war was just pathetic, in the most literal sense.

Disbanding BoB had lots to do with showing up to defend 49- let me tell you.

Kenzoku had:

1. allies
2. full moon coverage
3. multiple titan support
4. a cyno jammer

What did they do the moment a fair sized fleet was rallied during euro prime?

Nothing.

Now what that has to do with Haargoth or the events of a few months ago might just be beyond my pathetic goon brain to comprehend.

49- is not in Delve, its a station in Querious that Kenzoku took back from us in one of their only offensive attempts in the past months. Why they gave up on this is beyond me, but it was a gain made well after any 'disgruntled director' activity.

Still not sure how being a 'sacrificial lamb' equates to 'defending space you fought for' but whatever. Last time they wanted to fight over 49- they ran to the forums proclaiming how they had >1000 pilots at the ready. At most we had 2-300 the last few days at our peak. Should have been an easy job.

fyi we broke sov4 in delve during the first invasion but thanks to still broken cyno jammers and titans it was impossible to move forward. When you come up with a plan to take down a jammer with 5+ titans in system let me know.

a) No clue about BoB's history in Eve
b) Some serious rose-tinted blinders on
c) The greatest trolling ability ever

I'm no fan of BoB/Kenny or Goons, but both sides have consistently done whatever was possible to gain an advantage over the other (and the enemy's allies). Spy smartbombing a titan as the pilot has to log, Haargoth, sov dropping w/spies, forum dumping, blobbing/spamming, NAP-ing, propaganda posts, etc. I'm leaving out tons of dirty tricks, but no side can take the holier than thou ground in this.

Well done to all involved, it's been interesting to watch (read about).

Tbh, I'm pretty neutral in this whole thing, although every time I've been involved its been shooting GBC.

In retrospect, if the goons spent less time crap posting forums with smack / useless intel and more time actually fighting in game-- this would have been over a long time ago. I mean, ffs-- they literally lost their alliance and still were preventing you from taking their space.

Secondly, The OP says nothing about it being over, in fact (assuming the quote from Molle is unedited) "we'll work from there" sounds more like a "secure you personal stuff so we can fight till the bitter end" post than anything else.

Well i would be lying if it wasn't fun to fight you guys aswell, during Max, the battles were awesome, Delve 1 was loads of fun, shame Delve 2 didnt give that many epic fights, allthough the ones that happened were cool and it's a shame that 49- wasn't going to be the last epic battle against you guys. Anyway I salute you and hope to see you guys on the battlefield soon and otherwise i wish you guys good luck in whatever you guys decide todo.

Eve was getting boring for Bob so they decided to go out and antagonize every powerblock until they had the whole game against them. Only then could they truly have the real good fights they were looking for. Bob had the courage to do this, the temerity to say "The only real challenge will come from everyone allying against us, we're that good."

And guess what chumps, we gave them what they wanted. They had 2-3 years of good fights and had a great time through it all. They may have lost but that's not what matters.

Kenny lived at the whim of Evil Tub and -A- for many months now. When -A- decided they weren't going to prop Kenny up any longer, they died.

It must be a bitter pill to swallow for old time Kenny pilots. First, to have had to completely rely upon the Russians for their existance for months now. Then, to have the moment of their death dictated to them not by the outcome of a "good fight", but rather, when their Russian overlords decided it was time to call it quits.

How poetic that the alliance that most despised and had the greatest animosity for Russians would have found themselves in this position. Interesting as well that supposed Russian patriots like Evil Tub and Poopy would have went through such great lengths to keep Kenny alive for so long.

You guys should start negotiating non-pos warfare pacts and resetting people for honest pew pew.

Maybe spread out some r64's so all the alliances have steady pvp income and turn the whole place into a non-pos warfare thunderdome.

This is the beginning of a post-BoB/Kenny EvE.
This is awesome! One could make the argument that a BoB in eve who is highly expansionist and after all of 0.0 is the driving force of most of the unfun aspects of the game.
They heavily contributed to the Goon/BoB polarization of eve because no other entity could be assured that BoB wouldn't turn on them as they did ASCN. Plus, BoB allies were treated like crap so any self-respecting entity in game wouldn't really ally with BoB.

It'll be interesting watch what starts happening from now on.
