I am an American. I've never been scammed on ESCROW once. It's not very nice to generalize AMERICANS as idiots. There are stupid people in every walk of life, not just in the USA.

Like another poster said, all the facts are in front of you to look at and verify. If you click the button without looking, you deserve to lose money.

To remove every person's alts because of a certain percentage that scam, is never going to work. My opinion is, once a person has commited a certain number of escrow scams and has been reported to CCP, they should remove the character themselves. If the person's account it is on does it too many times, then ban the account.Wink

That is so not a good example. First you actually get the item you are paying for you just pay a little more. Also people sometimes spend almost all their money on the a battleship, unless you are really poor you don't spend almost all your money on a pot of milk. Furthermore if it was any real amount of money I got scammed out of in real life you can bet your arse I would try to do something about it.

But get scammed on escrow and there is really no one you can blame but yourself you have all the information before you click "claim escrow". It's just the damn spam that irks me a block escrows from pilot would go a long way to fix that.

A simple way to reduce the number of scams you see on Escrow would be an ability to block known scammers, so you don't even see his/her escrows and get annoyed by them.

It's simple really. Just make it so that when something is claimed that doesn't match the description (or whatever) you "fine" the scammer 50% of the escrow price...

...and you charge whoever claimed it 50% of the price for failing to inspect it.

IMHO Escrow should have 1) Broker fee just like market 2) Trade fee, just like market (ONLY FOR ESCROWS VISIBLE TO ALL).

Keep in mind that if ther was high fee for posting, couple of things would change immediately:

1) People would not post 100x same item escrow anymore, no spamming.
2) Due to #1, you Escrow would be visible EVE wide for days if not full week.

Person to person, or person to Corp (restricted) escrows should have their fees removed.

As it is now, Escrow is 20x more powerful (substitute 20x for number of regions) and it is practically for free if you compare it to market.

Moreover, it allows for griefing/cheating.

you should think a minute about this proposal and you will see Escrow would become really useful.

If a scammer plays a game, he WILL find any possibility to scam.

I do not believe that we will ever see the end of scammers, not in Eve or any game.

HOWEVER

There is a pathetic tendancy of people to 'accept' what they cannot change. Scammers should NOT be accepted. As for the ones who abuse alts, they are such pathetic scum that words cannot express it.

I don't think will ever see the end of such scum, but hell will freeze over before I stop condemning them.

People use alts to scam on escrow, you cant hit back if you are silly enough to be scammed...

Solution...
GIVE NPC survellance(sp?) agents the abilty to tell you a characters alt names for an increased fee. Then all the idiots putting trit on the market and calling it a Raven could be squashed for funVery Happy
