I try my best to keep my cool, he produces a paper from his robe and hands it to me. I examine it and it's an invitation from the university administrator to speak here about solism. The realization hits me, the traitor is telling the truth. Before I have a chance to respond someone finally notices the bleeding man dripping blood all over the floor.

Sir, what are you doing?

We're just taking this prisoner to the medbay.

Is that the egger?

Yes.

I'll take my unit along.

That won't be necessary, me and Lt.Starks have the situation under control.

They insist and so we take them and dispose of them before we ever get anywhere near the medbay. We take him back to his ship, a retribution class frigate. Between the disjointed slurring he thanks us, and wants to protect us. Not possible. If he leaves without us, he's guilty of nothing. He leaves with us, and he's guilty of kidnapping Amarrian personnel. The general will stop at nothing to recapture him then.

We have to face the music and so we do. The general showed up a few hours later, we tried to make up some story but the security logs showed otherwise. He takes us to the back office. I watch him interrogate and kill Starks. Now he's heard my story, I wonder if he'll kill me too.

It is as I feared, you too, seem unwilling to compromise. Very well, I hope you've served god better then you've served me. The general raises a pistol. I briefly feel the burning in my chest before I slump over the table in front of me. It feels painful at first but then it feels like a cleansing shooting throughout my whole body. Perhaps god will forgive me for what I've done.
-----------------------------------
Crafty sig goes here when finished.
-----------------------------------

Well there was 8 of us.

Dosn't matter, have you heard about those eggers? They can move faster then us regular people. They can see what you're going to do before you do it. Rumor has it they see things in slow motion when their adrenaline gets pumping. They train these skill packs, gives them crazy reflexes. Starks is pretty knowledgeable about some stuff. I wish the guy would just memorize even one passage of the scriptures. He forgets too easily the time we cleaned sewage intakes with micro scrubbers because he couldn't recite Amatat and Avetat for the general.

Look Starks, I'm sure the wrath of Amarr's chosen was enough to keep him in his place. And frankly he was formerly an Ammatar loyalist.... that just burns me up. How someone can turn their back like that. I'm going to go in there and give him a peace of my mind, and my fist.

Won't he suffer enough? Starks pleaded, this was odd for him. Hell maybe he's right but I'm just too angry at the concept of a traitor in my office. I ignore him and go back to the room where I left him. Starks follows me, out of curiosity I guess. I approach the man.

So what course of action do we take now? He asks calmly. I punch him across the face, the plates on my glove protect my hand, but leave a sizable mark on his face, his shades fly off and he reels a bit. He remains calm and seated though. I slug him again, this time with my other hand. Again he reels but does nothing. This is starting to **** me off, at least fight back or beg or something you swine! I lose myself in a discontented series of jabs and strikes. When I snap out of it, I see he's bleeding all over the damn place. The general won't care. I admire a job well done but my expression changes when I look at Starks. He's mortified..... why? Just a traitor getting his just deserts.

He didn't even fight back. Starks mumbles to himself.

So what... why is that so amazing.

He just sat there and took it.... like us.... you hear about these malcontents and they're described as horrible people. It's so weird to see him just sitting there. He hasn't even killed anoyone.

I don't know what you're talking about, Lt.Starks! I lied, I felt it too. This guy is harmless. Even I could tell after beating the ever loving crap out of him. I think I was looking for an excuse, this is the first time I've ever dealt with a 'malcontent.' This guy isn't the monster they tell me malcontents are.

You feel it too, I know you do.

Yeah ok, you got me. What do you want to do though. He's the general's problem now.

Well I....

You what?

No... nothing.

I shrug my shoulders, I didn't think anything of it. I walk out and wait in the lobby for the general to arrive. An hour or so later Lt.Starks comes back, dragging a very bloody Pulgor behind him. Where are you taking him?

He needs medical attention, he's almost dead.

Sorry, we need to keep him here for the general.

Lt.Starks looks down a moment..... he's lying, he's not taking him to the med-bay. You're going to smuggle him out of here aren't you?

I can't turn him over to the general. I won't! He looks pretty sure of himself. I could arrest him on treason right now, but this isn't like Lt.Starks.

What do you mean? You realize what you're saying!

Yes I do, I won't do it. He talked to me after you left. He was invited here to speak! Do you know what that means!

I pause in thought, can't be. Come on! Why would anyone do that!

Isn't it obvious! He was lured here so we could capture him. The General's in on it. This is revenge!

It's true, your general will net quite a reward for my capture. First time I've heard him speak. He slurrs the words out through his shattered jaw.

You, I pause a moment, this is strange. Say you were invited to speak here? Do you have proof?
-----------------------------------
Crafty sig goes here when finished.
-----------------------------------

Hmph, they always choose the worst rooms for these things. I'm sure nobody cares about that though. Hell, I just want to get this over with.

Sargent Rannik! Your hearing shall now commence.

About time.

You will talk to General Kroden with respect! Do you understand me swine! That's right, be a good little lackey.

Just read the crap on that pad of yours and lets get on with this.

A nod from the general and the metallic pad slams across my face with overwhelming force. He is a good lackey. Wish I had someone like him instead of Starks, but I suppose we'll get to that.

Read the charges. While I may not show it, the general is someone I could always respect. He speaks with purpose and carries himself with dignity. I know I have coming what I have coming, but I'm still not happy about how things turned out. God has a different plan for each of us. Sad that mine ends here.

Sir, yes sir! Sargent Rannik, the Ammatar Fleet charges you with Heresy, Treason, releasing people held in imperial custody, and the murder 3 subordinates.

I smile, Is that all?

The metallic back of the pad strikes my face again, whatever they injected me with, it sure takes the fight out. I slump forward a little and wait.

We are fair men, Rannik. Please tell us your side of the story before we come to a conclusion on these matters.

Hmph, good show General. Well, it started earlier today when we were to carry out order #7136... I lose focus as I begin to recall the events.
--------------
It was just maybe 8 hours ago, I was chatting with Lt.Starks as we walked down the hallway of this very station.

Hey Starks, what do you think this Solism nonsense is anyways?

Ah just more crap from those eggers to make them feel better then us.

Yeah I hear you. Sad that this one used to have a respect for god.

Well, he'll learn his lesson soon enough We rounded a corner and our unit awaited. 8 Marines armed with laser pistols. The door was straight ahead. We had received orders about a lecture taking place here in Telsun University. A small university on Tanoo. This lecture was discussing beliefs other then god, we were here to shut it down. Capture the guy if possible. He was an egger, we figured it might be tough but we had our orders.

Okay, lets move out. We march to the lecture hall door and barge in. I can hear him speaking through the speakers. I ignore what he's saying and begin approaching the stage.

He sees us, and looks alarmed. That's normal. He doesn't try to run. That's not normal. We get up on stage and I take the microphone from him. Alright people, get out of here, this lecture on unfaithful material is over! Your names are all being transmitted to the Ammatar Consulate, you'll all receive communications in a few days regarding this distasteful incident! I switch off the mic, but the egger just stands and looks at me, his dark sunglasses penetrating my visor.

As for you, you're under arrest for preaching ungodly material.

He speaks calmly. Strange for someone about to be taken into custody. I wasn't preaching anything.

Yeah right, tell it to the general. Lets go! I motion with my rifle and he falls into formation obediently. He's a brutor, he'll make a fine slave. I'm sure the general would like a brutor 'solist'. He can be cleansed and do hard labor. Maybe he'll revert back to the way he was. I heard about this 'Pulgor' guy. He used to be a pretty stalwart example of our people. What a waste, I'm almost glad the general won't get here for another few hours. Gives us some time to 'get acquainted.' We enter the Ammatar Fleet office and I seat Pulgor in the back and leave him there. I lock the door and return to Lt.Starks.

What do you think will happen to him?

I don't know Starks. I think the general will make a slave out of him.

He didn't even resist.
-----------------------------------
Crafty sig goes here when finished.
-----------------------------------
