As for the "Condoning scamming" discussion it's pretty iffy. Moral standards dictate what each person will think.

Buying a gun, loading it, and giving it to you kid is just as bad as shooting the kid yourself. Although this is an extreme example it does show the core of the matter.

You know exactly what he is going to do with the shares. The question is how much are you willing to sell out your moral center. 10%, 20% of your loss? is it worth it.

In a way Riethe greifed you, he managed to get ISK from you for nothing. Now he asked for the shares back in return for small compensation.

If you have to have the ISK back sell out, others will because they don't care. However consider this... By NOT selling back the shares for at least the price you paid for them you're griefing him passively. You're denying him the use of those shares.

Keep in mind the second he gets 51% of the shares your bartering chip just lowered in value considerably. This type of griefing only works if everyone holds onto the shares, which is highly unlikely.

This is a tough one here. IMHO I think Riethe is simply playing games with the overall mental state of the community. (At least attempting to do so.) Buy lavishing isk on some, bad mouthing others, blah - blah - blah, he creates drama with him in the middle. Right where he likes being. Hooorah the small egos that find the internet.

For myself, if I was in this position: I'd sell him back the shares only at the agreed upon rates like Minerva. However I would never discuss the matter as Riethe is still a lying scammer regardless of what he does now. This isn't someone who is trying to make amends regardless of whatever personal gain I might make and thus is not worthy of having his reputation improved in the least.

In simpler words, just because I got my money back doesn't mean he ain't scum.

He just needs 50% to vote yes. If he still owns any real amount that should be easy. If he doesn't then it just shows off his own lack of planning. As long as a lot of people don't vote no there is no problem for him... and it's not like he has tried it and failed, thus offering the buyback.

I think this was more of a thread to try and spark controversy.

It's actually an interesting point which was my first thought when I saw this.

On the one hand, he's going to try to scam others with these shares.

On the other hand, there's passing the buck to someone else and worrying about your own wallet, which, at the end of the day, that's what most people are here for.

Going to lead to some interesting discussion I think.

I tend to disagree here. At this point it is not a scam anymore, it is an idiot detector. If someone invests in Riethe at this point they deserve to lose their money.

Not to mention Riethe could just create more shares if he wished to scam more... so I don't understand the point of this thread other than gumption sake.

He means he has been selling them, thus scamming more people. He is running out of shares to scam people with... so he wants to buy some back so he can scam more.
