After a little research it looks like one would need to research the BPC to preserve a profit margin. Can anyone comment if this is status quo on larger items like cruisers and battleships?

Maybe I need to ask the question in another way. How do you keep track of inventory levels and material requirements? Not for one item, but dozens of tech 2 items and in the future ships.
