1. Red stars - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
If it's blue, it's friendly. Be nice. A player with a red start is a war target - they can kill you anywhere. A player with a red minus is hostile - they'll likely kill you in low sec and 0.0, but can't shoot you in high sec.

2. Cloaking - a useful defensive ability, or useless light show? - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
If you get tackled, the cloak won't help you. However, it's an invaluable PvE tool to avoid getting tackled like that. If you make a decent safespot and remain aligned to it and warp->cloak, you're basically impossible to find. In systems I k...

3. How does a noob avoid getting blown up? - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
Low sec space is pretty terrible - the risk is generally higher than 0.0, and the reward is lower. My best piece of advice is to find a good corp who can look after you and show you the ropes. Also, help you kill the other guy first.

4. Question about Social Skills - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
Social increases the rate at which you gain standings. Connections increases your effective standing, and this is hugely useful. As far as mission running goes, Diplomacy and Criminal Connections are only useful if you intend on running missions...

6. Rules of war declaration - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
Originally by: Nexus Kinnon correcting HK's fees, it's 2mil per week for the first war you have, then 4mil a week for the second war and finally 8mil a week if you have a third war going on. Knew it was something in that region. I've ...

7. Rules of war declaration - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
Edited by: HippoKing on 20/12/2007 16:45:14 It costs a pretty small amount (at least for a corporation, or non-newbie player) for a single war (5mil a week?) and you can shoot anything belonging to that corp in Empire space without committing ...

8. Running level 3 and 4 missions in Minmitar space as Amarr... - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
I hate giving out this advice, but if you want to run missions (particularly against Angels), train for a Raven. It's just far better than the other BSes, I'm afraid.

9. Gallatene and projectile weapons - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
No projectiles will get close to the damage output of blasters (with no ship bonuses). Add a hybrid ship bonus to the equation and there's no competition. Remember that DPS is damage divided by rate of fire - just because the projectiles do more ...

Doesn't work very well on rats though. They run out of caps fast, but can still fire/tackle/harden/rep. They rep less though.

15. Amarr pwnmobiles - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
Mallers aren't cool at all. Not enough fitting for medium guns, and with smalls (and an awesome tank), nowhere near enough DPS. Omen is pretty poor too: a bit more DPS but pathetic tanking. Right now, Arbitrator is the amarr cruisers of win-ness ...

16. How do ECMs work? - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
That is exactly right. The only way you can get 100% jamming is to get a single module over the sensor strength of the target. Thats only feasibly possible in a rook with racials AFAIK.
