There should be 2 options. Leave the afk mining and add a new mechanic where you need to actually play the game with maybe a new ship/module.

Well, CCP spent a lot of $ in another game. I didn't said its an easy task but, come on, 10 years with the same pve mechanic is a little to much. There are lots of low budget games which are fun. CCP added some good expansions, wormholes, Incurs...
