Falcon is good in both small engagements (where it's incredibly powerful) and larger engagements, where as the Rapier is better solo and good in small engagements.

The only use for the mal now really is to be a long range tackler. If you want to use blasters then you'll get killed by the next Blasteranis that comes along, or a pulsader.

Target painters increase the targets signature radius, so they will increase the damage that missles do to the target if it was avoiding damage due to size or by going faster than the missle explosion velocity.

Theres no other bonuses to using ECCM or remote ECCM other than the higher sensor strength (harder to be jammed), higher ECCM strength means harder to be probed too, but not exactly useful in combat. Remote ECCM isn't too useful either, crap range...
