If you want to be farm iskies with zero risk, stay in player corp in empire. Its super boring, but fine if you are just working up your learning. If you want to actually enjoy eve as its meant to be played, (woo excitement!), join a 0.0 group.

Don't forget that your scan resolution vs the targets signature radius determines your lock time. Backup sensor arrays and such are used to prevent you from being jammed.
