There is already something like this its called Transverse Velocity. Your idea is not bad by any means and I like it but For now You just throw that on your Overview and you kinda learn at what Transverse you can / cannot hit.

I think this is a good idea. One thing I would like to add tho. Is that guns should have more then one sound. Say around 200 different sounds that are randomly picked. Would make it seem more realistic. Also just a note a rail gun makes no sound...
