Might sound a bit silly, but I am looking for some sort of rough guide into the whole project?
Just the standard stuff I need to know...

Step 1: Buy 15-30bil worth of capital component BPO's and capital ship BPO's.
Step 2: Research them to reduce mineral waste.
Step 3: Manufacture enough capital components to make one of whatever capital ship you want to make. This can be done anywhere.
Step 4: Manufacture the capital ship. This must be done in lowsec or 0.0; in a station is fine, but is also doable at a POS. ---

If I recall; Mom, Dreads and Titans can only be built at POS, not station. Carriers and Freighters can be built in station. Freighters (and Jump Freighter?) are the only one that can be built in high-sec.

Wrong, the only capital ships that cannot be built in a station is Motherships and Titans. Dreadnoughts, Carriers, Rorquals and Freighters can all be built in stations.
To the OP. You can buy blueprint copies for the capital parts and the ships blueprint copy from the contracts, or check forums for people selling sets. Then you go to stations with manufacturing slots in either low-sec or 0.0. Build the parts and then build the ship.
Also I believe you can build the parts in hi-sec stations.

Edited by: Brock Nelson on 18/02/2009 06:01:40 I wasn't sure about the dreads.
I agree with you on buying BPC but to add some more detail, be careful with that area in particular. Lets take carriers for example, you'll need more drone bay BPC than any other components. So, if you buy drone bay BPC, it'll eat into your profit pretty fast. Same thing for cargo bay and construction part for freighters and so on.
Components can be built in high-sec but I wouldn't do it if I was constructing Carriers, Dreadnaughts, Motherships and Titans. Mainly because with components constructed in high-sec, it means more trips to low-sec to move the components than moving the materials to make the components since components take up more space than materials.
