I'm somewhat getting the same thing. There was an error with the patching process, so I quit out of the launcher and restarted the main wrapper. Launcher comes up again and tells me that the client is ready. I launch the client and obtain the same verification error that most others are having, except with only three verification failures, as opposed to the long list that the others are getting. Deleted common.ini within the actual client wrapper. The launcher now tries to download the Eve_Online_0-364755.patch generic patch file. It first progresses slowly enough, but every time it gets to 5% it holds there for a little longer than normal, then shoots forward to 15% and the launcher produces an error message that the patch information is corrupted and unusable, with an option to download the patch again.
Something must be wrong with either the launcher or the .patch files themselves.

CCP Sputnik wrote:Thank you all for giving this a shot, we are working on a fix for the issue. In the mean time you can used the Generic Patcher to update your client.
Is this generic patch supposed to be applied to the main client wrapper that I normally should have in my Applications folder, or the actual client application wrapper found within the main wrapper?
EDIT: Nevermind, silly me, can't open package contents from inside the generic patcher UI. |

I think it would be better to give us a Minesweeper game to play while working on solution. This is not working and yes we are paying you to test for you. Generic Patcher is not working, it's launching launcher again and not solving anything. PS. I'm sorry to be so straight and hard but this happens every single update so I'm pretty much stressed. In my company when someone doesn't do same thing right 2 times he gets fired.
That's correct, this "Generic Patcher" as it functions is merely an opening tool and does nothing in the way of actually patching an app that it's pointed at. |

I haven't heard of a single situation where one can "rollback" a patched file to a previous version of said patched file. I think the only immediate solution, seeing as deleting common.ini does not work, is either patching from an outdated backup copy of the client, or redownloading the full client again. |

It looks like launcher detects that client is latest version but previous patching failed.. or rollback to previous version and run whole process again Was just talking with CCP Mandrake about this and you can force the Launcher to patch by deleting the common.ini wich you can find under: EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program Files/CCP/EVE/common.iniDeleting the file and restarting the Launcher will restart the patching process.
As I had stated before, that forces the launcher to download the file Eve_Online_0-364755.patch which in my case will always fail due to data corruption detected by the launcher. |

Thank you.
I'll be updating to current version from a backup copy of the client (build 353549, Crucible 1.5.4) to see if I get the patching error again. |

I am running a macbook pro 2009 model and I had a similar problem with the client: 'Your EVE client installation may have modified, damaged or corrupt files. Please run repair.exe located in the EVE game directory or re-install the game client.' Deleting the file and restarting the launcher worked for me. +1 to CCP Mandrake!
Hmm, you didn't clear and delete the existing .patch files from the main client package wrapper, did you? I'm thinking the problem I'm getting stems from me clearing the cached .patch files. |

CCP Gangleri wrote:I have added the instructions for common.ini removal to the OP, if anyone is still having issues after trying this workaround please post below here using the requested info points from the OP and describe in as much detail as possible already attempted workarounds that have not been successful.
Just consolidating everything I've tried so far into one post.
The launcher initially downloaded the patch file and proceeded to apply the patch but encountered some sort of error and did not complete the patch process. Option to start the client was offered. Restarted launcher, which then indicated that client was ready. Launched client and got verification errors. I cleared the cache, removed the common.ini file as well as the .patch files stored in the main application package. The launcher tries to download Eve_Online_0-364755.patch but never gets past 5% before the progress bar jumps to 15%, and then the launcher produces an error that says the patch file has data corruption and cannot be used. Retrying always yields the same result. I have also tried updating from a backup client copy (build 353549, Crucible 1.5.4), but the launcher updater encounters an error at step 3 of 7. It will then run itself over and over in an endless loop, repeatedly encountering that same error at that same step, unless terminated.
Macbook Pro 5,1 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz 4GB RAM NVidia GeForce 9600M GT 512MB VRAM Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8
Step-by-step: Opened main Eve Online.app Updated launcher Encountered patching error Quit and reopened main Eve Online.app Cleared cache through launcher, then quit went to Eve Online.app/Contents/Resources and removed all obvious incremental client patch files with the .patch extension reopened Eve Online.app encountered data corruption error
mounted backup copy of Crucible 1.5.4 disk image file from external hard drive copied full Crucible 1.5.4 client to desktop opened Crucible 1.5.4 client encountered launcher updater error
Shall I wait for the issues with Eve_Online_0-364755.patch to be resolved, or shall I redownload the full client again? |

We are still in the middle of our investigations, if you have a fast Internet connection and no bandwidth limitations it might be faster to redownload.
Thank you, Sputnik. I have neither slow internet speeds nor bandwidth limitations, but I live in Singapore, and network bottlenecking might be a huge detriment, because the last time I downloaded the full client, it took me 50 hours. It's really late right now, so I'll give the launcher a go again tomorrow morning and downloading the client if that doesn't work. |

Yes this is intended. Tara Nighthawk wrote:Removing the common.ini file just resulted in an error due to not finding this file Did you start the Launcher or the Game directly? I tried both. Are you saying there is supposed to be an 'EVE Online.app' inside another copy of itself? No wonder it doesn't work - and no wonder it takes so long to download. Now I am totally confused. Oh well - STO has space travel as well - not as good, but at least it works Wonder if I will live to see an EVE Online update that works first time on a Mac. Probably not
Yes, there's a separate application package inside the main application package. The main package wrapper is supposed to contain the framework and scripts for the launcher, as well as the game that the launcher is supposed to launch. Official Cider ports have been doing this for years, now.
