So I download inferno, I played a little bit before class. I come back, after class, now the EVE client launcher opens, I hit the Play button, and BAM! the launcher closes, and EVE never actually opens. Anyone know what to do? Do I have to re-download? |

New Issue?
Update and second patch went fine for me. Unfortunately after entering the game, mouse clicks become unreliable. I am having to double or triple click on buttons to get actions. Sometimes it seems the mouse up event is not captured and I end up dragging things around the screen.
I am hoping to avoid a clean install of the client.
Any ideas? |

There is a separate thread for this issue, I would recommend responding there. |

Sometimes I've seen the EVE client leave a wineserver process around even after quitting the game. Kill that process and restart the launcher (it usually helps me). |

Client won't open. has a little box that says launch failure then lists a bunch of files that are corrupt. Repairer didn't work... tried all the other forums for things, deleted a bunch of stuff it said to delete like ini files and such but no luck.. tried to reload the update but no luck... for some reason my EVE directory was up to 11gb.. so have deleted the whole thing and now wait patiently whilst it downloads the latest client bundle at 6gb which on my amazing connection is set to take another 12 hours.... sigh....

Surpringly the patch went well, corrupted files that were downloaded vanished when i reinstalled the patch for the second time. I dual box and now the second account loses connection if i don't do something active with it. The problem is the second account is usuallly a fleet booster sitting in an Orca in a pos force field while my corp mines in low sec. Not a very active role. Hope this can be resolved it was never a problem in the past. Is this some strange new anti-botting subroutine? If so it really creates a problem when your fleet booster suddenly goes offline while sitting in a POS.
Just about ready to move up to Rorqual for boosting our mining ops, don't want that ship dropping off line and then rewarping back to the POS after the connection is lost.
I am wondering if anyone else has had this same occurance? |

You know what? I'm tired.
I am tired of working to play Eve. Clonemaker is broken. On OS 10.5.8, I cannot use a prefs folder with a different name. When I change the name it downloads a patch from 12345 to 12345. In other words, Eve patches from and to the same version. What it DOES do is change the prefs folder name back to the default.
On my other Mac running 10.6, every day this week I had to fight to get one client updated and working. By the time I do, I am just not interested in doing anything.
Oh, and the "unified assets"? What a load of bullshit. Maybe in a station, it will be convenient. In space? I don't play a space game to look at icons and text describing where they are. I spent 15 minutes trying to move stuff between my cargo and an assembly array. Then I made the mistake of closing the windows, warping away, back and trying to open them again. I had to start over. I will not bother to say "CCP, pull your head out". I've been saying that for 3 years.
I am tired of working to play a game.
It has been 3 and a half years, which is a good run for a game to hold my interest. There is more I wanted to do, but when I cannot just log on after work and have fun, there is no point in trying. I will take down my assets in space, dock everyone in a station, and say goodbye.
I hope CCP has had a good time inflicting pain on me, because it's over now. |

Cross posted for added visibility...
Since patching the client yesterday it won't even load the login screen. Fans go full bore. Screen turns black. Nothing else happens.
Client had been stable and playable before that for a long time.
MacBook Pro 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
Downloaded and ran repair tool, cleared cache from the launcher, and did a full system reboot. So far nothing has worked. |

Confirming reinstalling does nothing. I downloaded and did a fresh install of the client on separate drive.

So it looks my 5 year old MacBook Pro with a now unsupported ATI Video card can load successfully load the login screen and the game (hell even CQ loaded...) but my 2011 MacBook Pro cannot.
Thanks for all the support CCP in helping resolve this issue, and communicating as to when it might actually be fixed! |

So I'm using a 2 year old 15" MacBook Pro. I've been playing EvE since the day I bought this computer. I've been dual boxing on this computer for just about as long, through multiple patches.
Very frequently, the patches and "updates" somehow disrupt the delicately poised Jenga-tower of coding we know as EvE online. Most frequently these issues manifest themselves by negating my ability to dual-box, or messing with cached settings. All of these issues are easily resolved with assistance from other players, albeit dealing with the inane nesting of files within files that the mac OS uses.
However, this time is different. I turned on my client, updated to Inferno, and started playing. I even got 2 clients working simultaneously, even with the lag from the new inventory system, and I didn't even have to reload my overview settings (OMG!!!)
However, after several days of playing, I logged in yesterday (Sunday) with just one client. Inexplicably, my client just froze. I assumed it was standard new patch hiccups, and closed the client down to restart it. However, restarting leads me to a blank white screen. The fans whir, the menu music plays, everything except actually being able to see the menu. My computer also chugs incredibly while in this state.
After erasing every EvE file and reinstalling a fresh client download from the website, I STILL have the same issue. After attempting the workarounds others have posted here, I STILL have the same issue.
To be honest, I'm at a total loss here. Thankfully I have corp members to take care of things while I'm not around, but I'd like to be able to log in and, you know, play the game i PAY for.
I suppose my only recourse at this point is to wait for CCP to intervene.
Sigh. |

Well a new patch is download and installed successfully, but the login screen still won't load.
MacBook Pro 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
Not sure why I am bothering to post though. I mean it's not like this problem hasn't been documented almost a month ago, by myself, and others here and here , yet has not received a single acknowledgement by CCP nor any requests from CCP to help further diagnose the problem.
There are literally like maybe 20 - 30 new posts a day in this entire Macintosh forum. Of that maybe 5-10 are genuine support requests/problems. Is it really that difficult to have one person monitor and respond that issues are noted and offer some words of communication? |

Confirming that the new patch installed successfully on my computer. However, my login screen will still not load. The Eve icon in my activity manager now displays a circle with a line through it instead of the Eve graphic and the game is as unplayable as yesterday.

After I press the 'Play' button, the splash screen is just a copy of whatever happens to be on the background of my computer.
15 seconds later I get the following:
Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x0ef5fff0 at address 0xffff0eda. Do you wish to debug it ?
Doesn't matter if I press Yes or No. Have tried redownloading the entire client, manually patching, etc. Not worked for weeks now.
iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3 ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB Mac OS X 10.6.8
Ironically it does work on my less powerful, 4-year-old MBP.

I thought that dragging the application from the Applications folder would serve to "uninstall" the client. You actually have to trash your entire Eve settings folder. This means overview settings, caches, all of it. Once you do that, you can reinstall your client from a fresh download and it will work, although you will have to reload any custom overview settings and rejoin channels etc. If you have an older client download, you should be able to reinstall from this as well, although you will have to update to Inferno. |

Ok, compared to the other issues discussed here this is only a minor thing, but the new missile effects don't work correctly on my Mac version. I have the 2011 MacBook Pro and whenever a missile is fired I only see some smoke but not the fire effect and the actual missile. On my laptop with Windows version it looks much better. Is anyone else having the same problem or is there just a problem with my drivers or something? |

I've just signed back up to Eve with the come-back 90 day offer thing. I downloaded and installed Inferno with no problems and for the most part it's running very smoothly. Impressed with the improvements but feel like I'm learning to walk again, but that's another story.
However, very occasionally (but at least once every couple of hours) I will get a freeze followed by a CTD. It always happens when I change something graphically - so if I enter into the captains quarters, or exit it, or even if I zoom right in on a ship in space. Doesn't happen every time but it's always triggered by an event like that.
I'm running eve on
- iMac 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5
- 12GB RAM
- Mac OS 10.7.4
When it crashes to the desktop I get a message pop up asking if I want to 'debug' it. Never clicked yes, but could do if it would give you more data to work with.
After posting this I had one straight away. The error message is 'Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address 0x00000000.' |

Mac client, ENG localization MacBook Pro 13" Mid-2009 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 8GB 1067MHz DDR3 RAM 750GB HDD
Originally purchased/installed EVE through Steam, which has worked fine for the last month or so. Started the launcher today, client verified fine, and hit play. Screen went dark, cursor shrank as usual, but instead of the fullscreen login page appearing, a screen-sized white window appeared, and the following error dialog was shown.
Quote:Exception raised Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x0f2dff0 at address 0x951512fb. Do you wish to debug it?
Uninstalling the Steam version of the EVE Mac client and installing directly from the CCP page results in the same message. Repair tool is ineffectual. |

Please try clearing cached data, this can be done from the launcher tools menu located in the upper right corner of the window. In the 'EVE client settings' tab there are two buttons that clear out cached data.
