i'm using market-bought 250mm rails...what kind of pirate drop rails are better?

I got 2 250's too. They're okay, but nothing special.
Try to find a 250mm coil.
I know I'm trying, but I can't find the buggers. .

You need to hit either Serpentis Drug Barons or Serpentis Chief Defenders (both cruisers) - they drop 250mm rails, (both stock and rare coil ones).....but they are never usually alone ;) ------------------------ "The direct use of force is such a poor solution to any problem, it is generally employed only by small children and large nations." ------------------------ |

*hint* Don't even use hybrids if you want to do damage ;)
You only use hybrids if you want to make fun of yourself and entertain others. Or just to see the nice flashy shots.

thanks for the info guys.
i was hunting those pirates eariler but never got a rare drop 250mm rail...just some standard ones.
and getting crits for 140 from 24km with uranium ammo isn't good damage?

No, try your laser/prjectile friends that does 400-750dmg. And next patch ammo range penalties come in. And hybrids will lose that game.

ok..how the hell is that anywhere near balanced? i don't believe those numbers come from turrets comparable to the 250mm rail. i know someone who was using heavy beam lasers and was getting slightly higher damage then me but at a shorter range.

hybrids are underbalanced and should deal the most dmg considering there requirments
hopefully this will be considered soon
avg dmg 250mm between 60 to 100 4 me lvl 3 med hybrid
this is at 27km

Unless CCP fixes hybrids next patch I would strongly consider training up either Projectile or Lasers. Hybrids are currently broken beyond belief and much weaker than other weapons in the game. ------

Use a modulated beam laser or 425mm scouts. Maybe just 650mm.
Your 250mm rail with uranium ammo will have a 16km max range after next patch. And 12km optimal. 9.6km if you use antimatter.
Hybrids should do more damage than laser and projectiles. Due to the lower tracking and double use of cap and ammo.
I got compressed coils and stabalizers. ASwell as lvl 3 srugical, lvl 4 cruiser and lvl4 medium hybrid turret. My laser friends easily outdamage me. Only my drones make that up (8 wasps), since they hit as hard as 2 250mm coils.

I'm sure they will balance the guns soon. And my 250mm rail (normal one) crits for 185. :p And those numbers from above are outdated. They damage mod devices got fixed. Laser does around 120 and more (depends on skills and how many rare heatsinks you have) average damage now. My rails does around 80 wich is still pitiful because you can't mont 5 as you can do with lasers.

I got a 300+ wrecking shot this morning with my 250mm rail (+ 3 mods, hyb turr 3, surg 3, sharp 3, cruis 3)
They're not *too* bad, except for the huge power usage. I would like to be able to fit 3 on my vex.. .

425mm scouts never came near the dmg i make with 250mm railguns.
I did 220 dmg with the railguns (antimather) while the 425mm scouts did only 140 damage at most (with titanium sabot.)
But what lasers do such dmg? Im very interested. :)
And what are their prices about? __________________________

I can do 200 damage from 40k range with hybrids so they are not bad. Lasers are better though as I have been hit from the same range for 350 damage. ------------------ NoctoZ Black Reign Curse Alliance |

Dual 425 scouts can though.
My current layout has 3 dual 425s, each with a damage mod of 12.13X. They deal about 250 damage average, each. That might seem good, but compared to what experienced pirates run, that's kid's play. I got my shields wiped inside 6 seconds by a single pirate at a station before I learned tac shield manip skill. These guys are skilled. :)
The problem with lasers is that if you have a heat dissipation screen and em screen, you've effectively shut them down. -QM

Next patch will add ammo penalties..working that is. Currently ammo range penalties does not work. Aka. I can easy hit at 24km with antimatter now. After next patch I will have -60% range with antimatter and -40% with uranium.
It not hard to notice ammo/crystal range modifiers donŠt work ;)
Try the Chaos server ;)
