Hey guys,
So I'm mostly a PvE carebear, who sits in hi-sec and grinds away L4's. Well now I have a tengu, 1b excess ISK, and nothing to spend it on, so I think i'm going to start pvping, and exploding in glorius fashion.

However I know some there are some skills that I'm lacking before I can be a formidable PvP pilot, in things that are BC or smaller.
For some background, I like to fly missile boats.
So if someone can give me insight as to what I'm lacking, it would be greatly appreciated. |

My advice is to buy 20 frigates, and fit them. Get every one of them blown up before you take that tengu out. |

If you are looking for missle boats to train in and have plenty isk, then you should be able to buy and fit a great many Hookbills. Bit expensive to learn in but you don't seem to be short on isk or too new to the game so it should be ok. Go with some sort of safety fit like dual web, that way you can control fights better while you learn. |

Join RvB if you have never PvPed before, its a nice place for just getting into PvP. Granted its nothing like low or null sec but at least you can get some experience flying your ship in a PvP battle rather than AFK shooting mission rats. Cause I mean seriously don't expect me to believe you're actually watching your tengu do L4s. |

You have zero shield comp skills. Get them asap to 3 at least, IV is better, (V is def the end goal.) Then, also asap, train BC V and get used to PvP in a Drake.
Don't take your Tengu into PvP until you have like, 100 fights under your belt. |

Take 20-100frigs and get them blown in glorious battles with the first thing you see no matter how stupid and reckless it is. You be surprise what you can do with a frig to a BS pilot there are soo many fail fits out there. Kill/Death ratio is not important experiance is.
After that you have graduated to a cruiser or bc |

As stated numerous times, just get a bunch of ships (Probably Merlins, Kestrels or Hookbills if you're feeling spacerich), get them all fitted, and just get out there and lose every one of them. After each loss, try and reflect on what happened. Did you screw up? Did your enemy take advantage of something you were ignorant of? Did I make full use of overheating? This will really help you learn the basics, as well as getting over the fear of "ohmygod my ship is dying" that mission runners dread so.
Personally, try fitting your ships in different ways. The Merlin for example. You could fit autocannons or blasters/railguns (or lasers!) with your rockets. Then maybe a medium shield extender and a web. Or possbily a medium shield booster and a cap booster to keep it running. Find what fits your fighting style, and look for a ship that specializes in that for your next set of ships.
Oh. And train BC 5. Just do it. |
