You might want to keep looking east of the East Coast for your answer. ---

The problem might be that you live at the end of the world and there's no one living west of you to log on after you.

As you've noted, 11 pm Pacific time is not the busiest time on Eve.
Like Destination alluded to, Eve is a global game, since everyone (well, except some Chinese) are on our one single server - not multiple regional servers like Certain Other Games.
Which leads into David's comment - the most active time on Eve is usually around 1900-2000 Eve time (aka UTC/GMT)... which works out to approximately noon your time. Basically, Eve has more Euro zone players than US players, so it's busiest during Euro prime time.
And then as Estel pointed out, signing on late in the evening Pacific time means most US players have probably left for the night, and many Australian/NZ pilots are just finishing the 'traditional' workday.
Finally, while there may be West Coast-specific corporations (I don't recall ever seeing one specifically advertised that way though), most corporations are either regional (Euro/US/AusNZ) or global operations themselves which attempt to have personnel online 23 hours a day.

Sorry, I live in the UK and PST means nothing to me. Therefore I have no answer for you. Other than the only time that counts is in the bottom left hand corner.

Think of it this way. There are two primary geographic areas that EVE players come from.
North America, and Europe. Europe is some 8-12+ hours ahead of you. Very early morning for them.
In North America, on the eastern time zone (highest population), it's 2 AM.'
Don't worry about it much, though. Years ago, EVE only had 5K on at peak times. 15K isn't nearly as dead as you think it is

15k people is still quite a few. On the average WoW server you'd only see a fraction of that online at once. And most of that fraction would be stuffed into whatever town/city is the high level hang out spot these days.

Living in Japan. My morning is East Coast/Central US TZ. My evening is early Euro, late at night is Euro prime.
It's actually a nice spread here since I don't work in the mornings normally.

I say we all get together and try for a new peak record for late night folks in California.. (if that makes sense) Where do most people hang out around 11pm'ish in CA? Its soo boring going home after work and trying to find a group of people to share my journey with...

Another reason so many are on in the morning is asteroid spawns.
about 3:25 a.m. California time, the server comes up. By the time YOU come on in the evening, the asteroid fields have been cherrypicked.

Hah! I so miss the days when a record logon was like 5,000 people! Man, you could go anywhere back then. Have a corp of friends on when you are on and all was well. Universe is rather crowded lately.
Anyway, EVE is almost perpetually between 20-30k players at anytime of the day and for a good part even above that.
See graphs here.

ahaha... man.. i remember there was a little flash player use to see before I played EVE and it was saying like.. "half a million people, 1 server!" anyone see the same things? i saw it for about 10000 times before I actually downloaded the demo and once I did I was like OMGWTFPWN>>> instantly got hooked.. and i would think there would be that many people on 1 server all the time.. but i guess not :( but i would like to see more people on... and as far as cherry picking the asteroid fields..? wat does that mean? Everyone has gotten all the good minerals from them?

yes, for instance Kernite can be found in amarr/minmatar 0.7-0.5sec systems. This ore sells for more than its minerals are worth since it is used for a level 4 storyline mission. Most of the kernite in busy systems are gone only hours after downtime is over.
The same goes for decent sized veldspar roids in most (not all!) high-sec systems.
Even as a euro time-based player most of the good ore in busy systems are gone when I get home from college in the evening.

That's all the Aussies getting on right after downtime, which is right in the middle of our prime time. We've got to have some benefits - we get slugged with an hour of DT every evening.
Mind you, if it wasn't for downtime and a chance to clean up the dinner dishes, I'd be divorced.

Forced AFK time at 9pm (10pm currently with Daylight "savings" Time) is one of the reasons I love the game so much.
OP should go and start recruiting! Get that merchandise and just let every gamer you know hear about how much fun this game is!

I don't think that there is any sort of 'hangout' for west coast people, infact that question is sort of absurd really... With 15k people on at slow times that still means there are plenty of opportunity to find folks to fly with, you just need to put in a little effort. I was able to find a group of guys to fly with when the server populations were just breaking 10k at peak times, so it shouldn't be that hard for you man, have you tried the recruitment channel? <-------------------------------------------------> "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." -Albert Einstein |
