Consider this scenario:
Outlaw camping in low sec.
Outlaw decides to shoot someone who fires back.
Outlaw is losing the fight.
Outlaw has a friendly orca on the gate, right clicks it and stores his ship in it.
Outlaw warps out in a pod.
Orca jumps into hi-sec with outlaw's ship safely inside.

Why the **** are you not burning the Orca into a pile of ash? Bumpitty bump bump...BAM! provided you have sufficient DPS or ECM support or something...its a moot point. If the guy pulls it off, then you suck and deserve to lose since you can first aim for the ship that gives him the advantage, burn or drive it off, then deal with the other guy.
Also, makes you wander...why is an orca on gate? Dude have cajones or a master plan? You fall for it, you deserve to lose. You can counter trump him by drive the orca off or not even fight the guy...you win. You don't have to engage someone to fight to the death, just leave if you have to. |

The Orca is neutral... which means you have to go GCC against it... which pretty much limits what ships you can use (i.e. black-ops drops are out). The guys in the gatecamp have skirmish bonused faction scrams and webs that lock you down 15-20km out... bumping the Orca off gate is not feasible.

They stuff their ships in the Orca, jump it out into high-sec, warp away in pods, and wait until any sizable hostile force nearby is 2 jumps away (which they know because they have neutral alts in every system surrounding the camped one). They then go back and reestablish the camp.
And this camp is pretty hard to avoid because it's the primary route of two ways into that particular section of low-sec in that region. The other route still takes you through the same system (just at a different gate that may or may not also be camped... depending on how "shiny" your ship is). Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

Isnt this one of those examples where a nerfing of npc corps and introduction of war dec protected micro corps would partly help the issue?
Knowing the "neutral" party by even micro corp affiliation is better then npc corp.
Making orca and any corp and alliance hangar access impossible from npc corp and only micro and true corp would add some new mechanics.
The current bug with the orca might just give some ideas to a feature?
To add to the ideas for nerfing npc corps.. Take away access to level 4 agents to maybe?
Its bloody difficult from ccp/dev side to come up with solutions to the endless patience and ingenuity of players. They seem able to find holes at light speed.. |
