Edited by: Pepbill on 03/03/2009 06:17:32 I'm tired of people getting away with macro-mining and/or watching chinese ISK farmer profiting. Do a search on Dragoon under characters and you'll see what I mean.
Since CCP doesn't seem to do anything against them what can we as a community do so that CCP takes notice of our displeasure.

FYI a canned response you will receive when reporting.
Hi,
Thank you for reporting these possible macro miner to us. I will investigate the issue and take appropriate action as necessary.
It is against our policies to discuss any actions that we may take against another player. I am afraid that we do not discuss actions we take against players found guilty of breaking the EULA with our other players and therefore we close petitions reporting possible misconduct when we have all the information needed to conduct an investigation. As we get quite a lot of reports like this, it can sometimes take some time until players are investigated, but I assure you that all cases do get handled appropriately.
We will now close this petition.
Best regards GM Macayle EVE Online Customer Support Team

Don't waste your time. I reported the dumbest, most obvious macro-miner in the history of EVE...
Ballad of the world's dumbest macro-miner
Nothing was done.
So I wrote a forum post about him. This macro is so dumb and so obvious I now use him as a tutorial for other new players like myself so that they can observe a (bad) macro-miner in the wild.
It's not worth it to get worked up about macros. CCP has obviously accepted that a certain level of macro'ing is going on and has decided to turn a blind eye to it (macro accounts generate revenue, after all).
The best revenge that you, as a player, can take against macros in belts you've decided are "yours" are to get a step ahead of the macro and then use a survey scanner to mine "his" rocks until they're tiny, tiny nubs. Make "him" use a full three-minute to mine 50 ore.
If not, good luck with your quest.

It is pity that hi sec rats can't kill hulk because one inty would be enough to kill any macro miner (but also any regular miner)

Well, does anyone have any tactics or suicide ganking a Hulk? How many throw away ships would you need?

It'd take more than one Inty. From the ship scanning on macros I've done, they are typically equipped with high-end, complex-quality shield boosters and good extenders. The macro players can afford them. So you'd have to do more damage than the boosters and the Hulk's (not inconsiderable) native shields could tank.
A good cruiser like a Thorax or a Caracal could do the job, though.
But since macros typically operate in high-sec, a cruiser probably couldn't kill the Hulk before being CONCORDed. What it would take to suicide gank a Hulk fast enough, I'd leave to someone experienced in this to describe. Something (or a couple of somethings) with a really monstrous alpha strike, I imagine.
If you had an innocent nearby to salvage the wreckage, though, I'll bet suicide-ganking macros is reasonably profitable, if you don't mind the security status hit.
At some point when I have a really long train, I'll buy a 30-day account. Train him up in some heavy combat skills, buy him a ship, and see what it takes to suicide a few of the more annoying macros I know about.

we tried with a single BC and we got half way. so 2 or 3 to be sure BC will get the job done but you need decent missiles or gunnary skills.
never tried with a BS... too much to lose unless perhaps if you take insurance, suicide gank and salvage both ships maybe... something to try

The satisfaction of killing the farmer is all you'll get. They are like any annoying pest. You kill one, ten take it's place. And yes, I have petitioned so many it is just pointless to continue. The only real feel good I get is emptying their can into my hold for them. Then when I get bored with that I announce the location in local, or with an alt in a noob channel. Fun to see the young'uns come a runnin' with the promise of free ore!!
It is amazing to me the complex scenarios CCP comes up with regarding game play, but yet they are baffled (are they really?) by macro miners. _______________________________________________

From what I've heard from experienced macro killers, the best setup is 4x T1 fitted destroyers with T2 ammo. Also it works very well apparently because you lose almost zero isk, and you can train an alt to fly them in a day or so. (Won't be that way after apocrypha when you start with zilch for SP.) Anyway after the sec. falls too far you trash the character and make another. And yes, it is apprently profitable depending on what quality fittings the macro'ers have.
Keep in mind I believe doing this to honest miners should not be possible. However it's rather impossible to allow it to kill one and not the other. If you want to go macro miner hunting I'm game, I can make and fit 5 characters by tommorow to do it. We'd need at least 3 other guys 4 to be on the safe side.

Well, I haven't replied to a macro-miner thread in a long time, so I think I'm overdue.
To borrow from someone's analogy above, you're tilting at windmills here. Whenever there is real money to be made, there is always going to be someone willing to make it. The real enemies are the isk buyers, and CCP can be pretty aggressive against them from what I understand.
These two kinds of people feed on each other. There will always be someone willing to take the easy way out and use real cash to buy isk, and there will always be someone willing to fill that need. It's human nature, and you can't fight human nature.

t1 guns don't allow t2 ammo.

Ahem.
Originally by: CCP Ytterbium Team Epic's first goal was to restore balance throughout the known regions of New Eden by spreading NPCs where they were direly needed. As such, with the expansion arrival, expect various pirate battleships to arrive into low-security areas to ambush the unprepared pilots. Of course, the nature and type of these new spawns will be put into scale towards null and high-security space as we plan to even out rewards, not destabilize them further. To be clear, no pirate battleship spawn will make it into high-security space.
Sounds like cruiser rats in hisec are a part of Apocrypha, while 0.0 ratting will become less profitable. --- Some days you are the pigeon, and some the statue. |

Wow the farming is getting really out of hand, I decided to warp to asteroid fields in quite a few high sec systems today, all of them, yes 'ALL' of them either had rocks the size of shuttles or nothing at all, where's a new miner supposed to start?
Maybe some of you guys at CCP should make a new toon as a miner and see for yourselves. |

high sec ore doesn't get a chance to regrow, I have not figured out when what spawns or respawns where, but every time I arrive it seems I am late.
Ice mining is ok, but with can flips and all that you spend most of your time warping back and forth to the pos. Frankly, very boring.
The good - as far as possible - part is mission ore, I wish more mission runners would shout when they have something and work out a deal. And systems without stations in them are also frequently decent enough to mine. Seems macro's have trouble with that?
