Okay,
So I am aware there are about a million Guides/FAQ's/Posts about this topic, but I think I was able to think of yet one more question I have not been able to find the answer to . So, here goes: (be kind)
If I create my own corp, grind the needed standing, and anchor a POS in high sec and THEN go back to my old NPC Corp, will the POS still be usable?
Thanks,
Jakul |

How are you going to refuel and utilize the POS slots? Why in EVE would you do such a thing? Wardecs? That POS isn't going to be immune.

*) You can grind your standings whenever you want (no need for new corp right now).
*) When you create a new corp it will adopt your standings from the beginning. You can quit right away and name a successor, who can then anchor the POS (or you do it yourself and leave then ... AND name a successor).
*) You cannot quit a corporation, without naming a successor unless you are the last one - which will end the corporation too and you did everything for nothing

As long as someone is left in your corp, the pos will be usable, but not for you, only for corp members. But if you setup a password you are able to fly into the forcefield, but you will have no access. But you might rejoin the corp and use it again. I havent ever tried what will happen to a pos without a corporation. Probably it will run out of fuel and waiting for someone to destroy it. It will become useless. |

I just asume that the Op is trying to find a way to make his high sec POS untouchable for possible incomming decs

By the people with proper rights still in the corp, yes.
By you, no.
So if you want a POS for all your research alts and what not, than yes you can have your high standing character start a corp, anchor the POS and then leave the corp after all your science types enter the corp.
I just don't think you will ever be able to anchor more stuff on the POS, or reanchor stuff after a war dec (online and offline yes, anchor no).

You only need corp standing to anchor the control tower. You can anchor, unanchor, online, or offline all modules without corp standing. You can even offline, online, or unanchor the control tower without corp standing. |

Thanks for the clarification. So the advice is anchor as large of a tower as you might ever want, because it might be hard to anchor a larger one later. |

I really don't know why more people don't just do exactly what you said. This is why we have alts, or one reason anyway. A corp I was in on an alt, I suggested this very thing. Oh no, we can't do that, so they took a lot of very bad loses and lost their high sec pos. Not only that but did I mention they didn't know about the skill you use so that your BPO's never leave the NPC station and yet you can research them at the POS? The lost their bpo's, too.

If you leave the pos corp and join another corp, the only way you could still utilize the pos labs is within an alliance. As long as you have the proper roles in your corp and the labs are set up for alliance usage, you would still be able to rent/use the ME/PE research slots. You would not be able to access the copy/invention slots as alliance members would not have direct access to the labs, only members of the corp that own the labs can access those slots. |

I started with a medium, and replaced it about a month later with a large.
It is a HUGE pain in the rear to unanchor and scoop everything, anchor a new tower, then launch and anchor all the modules, and finally online them again. You cannot unanchor a control tower while there are anchored modules.
Then there is the standing issue. Had to kick everyone from the corp for a downtime that had low faction standing, then get them all to apply again, get accepted, and roles set again.
Ya, you only want to do it once. |
