I'm no longer permitted to post in COAD. Anyone who knows me and my current and former corps would know that I like small corps as both CoC and OMNOR has always been, and I've never posted using alts or used it as a cover for it. But now I'm suddenly locked out. I guess the blob finally won, eh? Oh, I petitioned it using the web interface using the Bans category, which is what it effectively is, but that petition seems to have vanished into thin air. Sure, OMNOR is currently "resting" and doesn't have many members, but that shouldn't keep from from posting, should it?

Guilty until proven otherwise? CCP is hurting legitimate players with this silly "rule". Just because it's a rule doesn't make it right.

SHC is better for information. CAOD is just an extension to the Goons forums atm.
Edit; I suggest you join THE INTERNET. |

Yes it should. By your own admission, your corp is not active. Therefore you have no place commenting in CAOD. ----------------------------------------------------

Whenever you get the urge to post in COAD do this instead:
Drive around town until you find a porta-potty. Stop and take a dump.
It has the same effect.

Just because we don't have 10+ active members and kill everything in sight anymore doesn't mean there is no activity. Filling it up with alts would be simple, but shouldn't be necessary just to get to a magical number CCP sees fit to impose.
By the same rules, no Cult of Cthulhu members would be allowed to post as we were only 5 members for a long time.

CAOD is the Corporation, Alliance and Organization Discussions section of the forums.

Exactly. So the change was an attempt to clean it up, which is a good thing. In my opinion they should start taking much harsher steps, including character and/or account banning from posting in CAOD so that the point is driven home properly.

Removing the ability of small corporations has done nothing to improve the situation, rules enforcing posts only from player corps just made people make 1 man alt corps and introducing restrictions on the corp size was circumvented by huge alt posting corporations and cracking down on that now has resulted in alt posting alliances and many people are just as happy to **** post with their mains.
Posts and threads should be considered on a case by case basis and to much trolling or spamming should result in a temp ban and circumventing that ban could be punished by a permanent forum ban on all known accounts, yes its harsh and draconian but its the only way to fix it in the long run because all the arbitrary restrictions and rules have proven to do little towards stopping the textual diarrhea.

I agree, at the time it cut down on the "one man corp" posters, but as is usual for CAOD it's got much worse. So clean it up by cracking down hard, or get rid of it entirely and save everyone the trouble.

There should be an addition rule set for CAOD:
posting is allowed by any char that has at least 20 mil skillbpoints AND corp history showing at least 3 corp changes.
Sure it's not perfect, by it would take care of 90% of legit people who get denied by current rules.

last i checked this was a game. the forums maybe not intended to but they are part of the game. until people start getting their ships/cars blown up in rl by a russian gank squad, we are able to fire lasers that harvest astroid material, or fights start breaking out at fanfest i would leave people alone.

The whole thing is silly. All they need to do is have better Moderators. The type of mods that delete any troll post whoever it comes from, be it THE INTERNET or even from a existing alliance. Someone in THE INTERNET can post a very good thread. Another can post rubbish. Proactive mods are needed.
The issue is not so much alt posts, its the Mods that need to delete (not lock) the crapposting. --

Using the Bans category refers to in game disciplinary action.
The category for all forum-related petitions is Other-Forums.
We took the decision to change the rules in CAOD to improve the situation, having been plagued by alt corporations that had little to do with large-scale conflict. Smaller corporations are advised to use the Warfare & Tactics sub forum or to raise their numbers to ten or over to enable posting in CAOD.

10 members is reasonable, as the vast majority of alts were lazy creations by their mains. It doesn't take much organization to cross the threshold, even if you're in a small or inactive corp.
The benefits outweigh the negatives, but there are still two problems.
The first is that some legitimate corporations have to bloat their numbers for such a stupid reason.
The second problem is that alts have congregated into big alt corps like THE INTERNET. which should make it easy for mods - yet they take no action even when it's blatant and obvious.
Because of this, the only difference in CAOD now is that it's less likely to see alt vs alt trolling and arguments, not necessarily seeing fewer alt posts.

Excuse me, but what? Are you trying to impose a play style on people (and myself) that I have not been comfortable playing since I started playing this game in the beta? Maybe you should have a chat with some of your colleges about this before introducing new and, quite frankly, insulting policy on players? Thanks.
