I created a SVN for my EVE runner script!
svn://baal.korinar.org/eve
The current script can only run EVE from there /opt/ccp directory. He check for font and dll for DX and updater.
For people wanting to collaborate, email me : admin{at}korinar.org and tell me the svn login you want and your EVE name.
TODO : -Add Video card detector (from glxinfo) -Add Video capability detector (from glxinfo) -Add EVE Installer (from a tar.bz2 installation of EVE) in => /opt/ccp/eve-tran.... -At installation, the installer must ask about wich wine to use (system/build-in) and buildin will be a precompiled statically linked wine binaries for x86 and x86_64. If a Nvidia 7xxx or ati card is detected, the installer must install a fixed version of Wine. -Add Eve uninstaller -An update system based on .tar.bz2 archive, no EXE file -A way to detect Installed version of EVE -make a command constructor for the run eve command -detect with sound system is used (adjust the run command according to that) -increment the desktop name number each run (in command constructor) -find pid of EVE and how many the system run (to run taskset.... if supported) -lot of other thing!
Fell free to add todo and useful things!

Nice one. Will grab a snapshot and try it on a virgin system (if i can find one) and play with it. If i come up with anything useful to add, i will contact you. Rushed off my feet atm, so no idea specifically when i'll get a chance. When i at least try it and get a sucess i will post a wiki spot on the Eve wiki to encourage use.
Best thing for now is various different distro's to try it out. X up for Fedora here ;)
Good job!

A better way than x'in up, use virtual box, grab as many of the main distros as you can, and then just run the script on each one. Mucho simpler than waiting for users who may or not be available to test. No I'm NOT volunteering right now, my life is hectic as well, but thought I'd toss that out there.
Although EVE won't "run" in a virtual machine, the installation routines will give valid information pass/fail as none of those steps require directx/opengl to work. The only things that wouldn't work are the checks for nvidia/ati.

Good!
First, I want to make the video card detection so I need a lot of glxinfo | grep "OpenGL" from a max of users :D Just to confirm all card naming logics.

Thank to Nvidia users. Now I added first part of video card detection script. Someone can tell me if Nvidia serie 6xxx work well with Apocrypha (With patched Wine)? I need to before witch model this not work!
Can some ATI users post there OpenGL stuff from glxinfo please?

Rav I'd suggest editing the post and adding a request for ATI users info in that. Just looking at the topic gives nothing away for ATI users to even look at this one. just fyi.
