I've only spent the briefest of times trying this out but my first impressions are :
Like the previous Premium beta Shadows are "broken". When I first ran this version from a fresh install I was getting about 3 fps in station. After playing with the settings I've found that for me the real killer was the texture detail level. My GPU only has 128 MB of RAM so having this set to high by default wasn't too good.
Might I suggest the default graphics settings be lowered so that the first experience is one of smooth motion rather than choppy motion and lots of eye candy.

Hi I'm trying to download the patch and full versions but they just keep loading and loading. Can someone tell me how large they are? I'm up to 1.97 GB and 1.27 GB respectively, which seems a bit large...

Same here. downloaded it twice, and failed verification both times. It says initially that the patch is 0MB in size, but then proceeds to download a 33mb file.

The patch was downloaded but it failed verification indicating that the file is corrupt. Would you like to download the file again?
You will not be able to enter the game until you download the patch.

I bet it's just a messed up checksum or something. the new-build notice does say it's 0 mb after all, so it ought to be a quick fix, right?

I found a work around:
go to the folder, Macintosh HD>Users>MyUserName>Library>Preferences>EVE Online Preferences>p_drive>LocalSettings>ApplicationData>CCP>EVE>c_program_files_ccp_eve_87.237.38.50>cache
and grab the file "evepremiumpatch83552-83738_test-mac.tgz.bad443" (or whatever the number at the end happens to be) and drag it to the desktop. Get info on it, and delete the .bad### extension, so that it is just a .tgz, then close the get info window, and double click the file to decompress. Run the program that pops out, and take it to your sisi client, then let it work. It will take several minutes to complete, and will seem to hang on the last 2% or so of the patch, but let it keep going. When it's done, you should be good to go. I'm already logged in. oh, and they updated characters too! \o/

Edited by: B Identity on 06/03/2009 18:17:31 OKay, the patch file itself is completely working. I;m on sissy right now.
It seems indeed like the checksum mechanism is failing somehow. I did locate the downloaded patch file, untarred it, ran it, and the client is logged in now.
If you like to do the same, the downloaded patchfile can be found here:
Users/username/Library/Preferences/Eve Online/Preferences/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/cache/evepremiumpatch83552-83738_test-mac.tgz.badXXX where XXX is some random number it seems. If you tried to download the patch more than once, there will be more of the same files with other XXX numbers.
Now, drag that file (one of them if you have more) to your desktop, and rename it by removing the last characters AFTER .tgz, so that the file will be named: evepremiumpatch83552-83738_test-mac.tgz
OS X will ask you to use the 'new' extension. Choose the .tgz option here.
Then double click on the renamed evepremiumpatch83552-83738_test-mac.tgz file to unpack it.
Run the unpacked evepremiumpatch83552-83738_test-mac file (make sure EVE is not running anymore) and choose the EVE program you want to patch (your 'old' sissy patched EVE client that should be).
Then run it and have fun again on Sissy ;)
Dang... someone types faster then me ;)

patch download crashed after 1hr 30min, full download installed now. and wont even start up :(
Not sure what to say apart from thank **** i installed windows..
Is this because i run 10.4.11 and not 10.5.6?
I expected to run with a couple of extra errors.. but NO client boot?
Edit: this forum even blocks f o o k?
Are you using a separate preferences folder for the beta?
If a client won't boot good thing to trash the prefs folder anyway.
I would expect issues with 10.4 CCP has already mentioned that Apple has provided graphics fixes in 10.5 which are important for stability. Other than audio production software that refuses to catch up to Apple's latest OS there isn't much reason to hold back. Even in that case I'd install Leopard on another drive or partition.
Thrown the prefs out, still no client boot.. Ah well.. I have windows installed on another partition..
I am one of the poor mugs who has lots of music software that i simply cant afford to upgrade :(
Ill see if i can afford leopard come payday and try the mac prmium then. until that time. I hope it works wonderfully for you all, but sadly i'll have to catch up later

Did a quick run around. Very quick relocation btw on the 'moveme' channel, who ever has slave labor on that, thank you.
Cannot say I'm happy on my first gen MacPro with a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT. Will try to swap to a different card tomorrow. But even with the low frame rates, its sure an huge graphical upgrade from the classic client.
One thing though: quit EVE or even hitting the red orb in the top window bar will not quit EVE. Only force quit (ctrl-alt-del) EVE will work. Will bug report after my beauty sleep.
But hey, it looks like it works! Nice job CCP and TG

The Solar System tab of the Personal Assets window doesn't show anything, even when docked at a station (at which point you certainly have an asset in the system), and even after waiting out the ~5min delay.
The client has the information — the assets show up perfectly in the Constellation, Region and All items tabs — so it's not a database error or client desynch. It's just the Solar System list that doesn't show/filter/accept the information it should.

Yeah quitting with command-Q or the menu item doesn't work, the quit button on the settings dialog window does quit ( esc then click quit button (or ctrl-Q). Logoff button does nothing. reported.

Command Q works for me. Though I noticed a short delay. When my ship is cloaked, it looks translucent, unlike the classic client, where the ship was invisible on my screen. Is that a feature or bug?
Overall, it seems to work for me. I'm glad Tuesday won't be doom and gloom day for Mac users. *crosses fingers*

Edited by: B Identity on 07/03/2009 10:12:19 Well, remember Sissy has different Maint downtimes than TQ. Currently it's 900 to 1030 EVE.
However they seem to deploy new patches regular too, and that is what they just did again this morning, since I have an incompatible client again ;) No popup to download a new patch yet, but lets see how this one works out.
CCP seems to work hard on things, and I have to say the current Premium Mac client works pretty well with performance, for me it's on par with the current Classic client with all fancy eye candy enabled.

looks like one. now i remmeber having seen this before. could be from the shadows that seem generally bugged atm. ofc a planet shouldnt have a drop-shadow. look like this should infact be a shadow within the planet to add depth.
with this current rendering planets look like flat discs floating in space.
