TLDR: Do not mine in an exhumer. Period and full stop. Mine cheaply and use insurance to buffer any losses. You will win EVE in the process.
So you wonder what to do? Have no fear as I have answers for you.
First of all remember that you have options in this sand box and you can choose to be either a victim or not. Most likely you fit comfortably into one of the groups listed below, but if not modify the advice to fit your situation.
A. Single or multiple account miner (frigate, cruiser, battleship barge or exhumer) with no Orca support in high security.
B. Multiple account miner ( frigate, cruiser, battleship barge or exhumer) with Orca support in high security.
If A. Park all T2 ships and fittings for the next few weeks and fit a T1 suitcase (damage control), T1 drones (scout and/or logistics) T1 mining modules and upgrades, T1 cargo expanders and T1 rigs. Buy insurance on all you ships and price BPCs for them as well in case you need them. Get jump clones with no implants whatsoever.
Carry on as you have in the past. Idiots will blow up you ships at a loss. Replace them and go on with your business.
If B. Fist part is the same: Park all T2 ships and fittings for the next few weeks and fit a T1 suitcase (damage control), T1 drones (scout and/or logistics) T1 mining modules and upgrades, T1 cargo expanders and T1 rigs. Buy insurance on all you ships and price BPCs for them as well in case you need them. Get jump clones with no implants whatsoever.
Fit your Insured Orca with a suitcase and hull upgrade in the lows. Fit the mids with cap rechargers. In the high slots fit a siege (shield harmonics) and a mining laser optimization module as well as a medium remote hull repair module. In the drone bay, 5 light armor bots, 5 light shield bots and 5 scout drones.
Everything should be T1 including rigs and should be insured.
You will die, but who gives a ****. No matter what, horde away some of your ore so that prices stay high! You will then have your revenge.

Low mineral prices are one of the many reasons why gankers be ganking. Besides, not all gankers are strictly pvp folks. How many of them do you think are industrialists with an agenda? Welcome to Eve Online. Don't expect people to be nice to you. |

Are you nervous or something about H'geddon ?
Besides, with the nef to mining yield here, one is better off mission running for the month anyway.

Great suggestion. You'll have to work your keyster a little harder, but you won't be as big a target. No one is going to blow their security and ISK on dollar store tech.
My former corpmates and I have been pushing this point throughout Hulkageddon III and IV.

Not that I feel comfortable defending goons, but... you do realize the effect of above actions really do nothing more than change some prices slightly - if that?
It's like saying raising the speed limits on some road will make all cars crash and humans as a race will be extinct. The effect is there, but you are not grasping the width (or, more the point - lack thereof) of the concept. |

Ok so if low mineral prices are the reason for hulkegeddon then isn't it kind of counter productive since low mineral prices should be a good thing miners sell the minerals at the low price inustrials buy the minerals build the ships and mods put them on the market for decent price the missioners and pvpers buy the ships and mods everyone profits except the pvpers since the only way they make isk from blowing up other people is from the loot they steal.

If they run out of targets and see hulks on directional, they will.
It is a bit safer then mining the belts though. My advice however would be: don't mine. |

Thanks to the mineral prices soaring, I will use my isk surplus to fit and use the same tactics used against me and my fellow mining kin.
I will take your souless, rotted hulls and refine them into more delicious minerals.

He had it insured though, and Scythes are pretty cheap on the market. He also handled his loss like a pro by saying in local he was impressed by how well it was executed.

I've posted this elsewhere, but a good mining battleship can pull in an impressive yield. 8 Miners IIs with lowslots full of MLUs and a solid shield tank should stop all but the most determined ganker, and the suggestion of officer/deadspace mods for the shield tank would almost guarantee that you will live long enough for concord to save you. If you really want to max out your chances, partner up with 2 of you guys, and have each person put 5 heavy shield rep drones on the other guy.
You will be a juicy target, but not an easy one, and that fit should be almost able to keep up with a hulk on yield. Inappropriate signature removed, CCP Phantom. |

Booooh... ;). Mining on/off since 2007 and never took so much as a dint in my shields so far. As mining tends to be tedious I'm quite happy about the occasional would-be backyard bully, he/she is the only entertainment to be had from mining after all. So, keep trying, pretty please!

For the month of Hulkageddon, the new mineral of choice is Redpodmium.
Redpodmium,: the delicious juicy pulp of an extinguished pod from a carebear hunter.
Usually found in space next to 2 wrecks and a non red pod, These fruits grow and ripen quickly, so you must be ready, the entire life cycle is over in seconds, but an efficient harvester can claim the juice and the withered husk of the former pod. Additional joy can be obtained from the shells of the former resting places for these harvested podlings. Care must be taken as there is some risk of becoming a podling yourself with the genetic changes to the display where a ripe and near ripe podling now both have similar red flashing coloration after liberation from the husk. |

Been 3 years since I did it, and more than 3 MLUs is useless anyway due to stacking penalty.
