Gone?? I don't want to spin my ship round, hear station noises and see it wobble about like it's drunk.
Fix it.

This option has been removed - it's by design.

Why? Was that change really needed?

Why do we have to have our ship as background and taking up system resources, it hurts people with older systems most of all? It's especially daft now that the ship fitting screen has its own little ship graphic showing off your ship. Can't we just have a bitmap background showing off the station interior, like have the concept art for WIS on the background or heck let us choose what we want. -- stuff -- |

Probably because they never got the option to work in the first place. Sure - you couldn't spin the camera anymore and the searchlights stopped "searching" - but the engine never stopped drawing the scene. At least it didn't increase my FPS *at all*.
I was even thinking about writing a D3D hook to null all vertex functions - but then this would probably be against their eula, so I'm sticking with the next best thing: Keeping the starmap open at all times when checking orders from my laptop :)

This option needs to be brought back. Enabling it reduces my fps even while in space.

Edited by: Backdaft on 08/03/2009 04:28:13 I must have complained one too many times about it. Really. lol
First noticed this option was damaged way back near the time the new Trinity graphics engine was introduced (was that with Quantum Rise?)
In any case, I was doing good with my HP Pavilion dv8000 notebook, 2GB mem and a nVidia 7600 Go card. I was running 2 premium clients in windowed mode and getting about 20 to 30 fps each -doing great in my book.
Then came the evil "Boost" patch and everything went to H*ll. They claimed it was a problem rendering planets. Meanwhile I'm docked and getting 8 fps on each client. Remember, during this time they moved a bunch of Esc menu options around, and I think broke some of them. This was about the time I think they figured out their cache size combo box wasn't working either and was defaulting to High and blowing out everyone with lesser graphics cards and trying to dual client.
I filed bug reports - they were ignored except the one fixing cache size. I spend alot of time docked working my manufacturing and checking the markets. So of course ccp had to go out of there way to make the client endlessly interrogate me - shining bright lights in my eyes, and playing repetitive sounds into my ears until I'm starting to lose it.
So of course there answer to this is - We've removed the option by design. WE'VE DECIDED THIS GAME IS ABOUT HARASSING OUR PLAYERS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
Well, not entirely. I did find they had added a new sound slider that I can use to mute the station sounds.
Oh, and thanks above for the map tip. I'll be living in the map from now on I suspect.
I get so angry sometimes about these UI issues. This stuff seems like commonsense that it would be the first things fixed. And yet as you can see ccp has now been jerking us around on this issue for the last 1 or 2 expansions.
Oh and don't jump into a freighter and leave the camera zoomed in - I've found it starts to make me sea sick after awhile. Just great.

Edited by: Admiral Seafort on 08/03/2009 06:08:24 Face it, CCP just needs to make a text-based client. If nothing else, at least do an ASCII one.
edit: WTF is jornual? ----- It is well that war is so terrible. We should grow too fond of it. |

If your computer is so crapp you won't be able to play the game anyway with scene2 ("oh noes I can't play with various accounts" was never intended anyway so stop crying). And if they phase out scene2 in some months (probable) it will be even more outdated.
So... quit eve or upgrade? Sorry can't say anything more productive, life is ****. Teh failure of a signature. |

What does upgrading have to do with annoying background sounds and visuals?

I'm guessing this had something to do with the fitting screen. You can imagine what effects it was having when you put the new fitting screen over a 2D scene. *shudder* ______________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Not quite true. A lot of laptops run on an intel chipset that supports all kinds of crazy high end graphics stuff - at sub-slideshow framerates. Probably just barely enough to put an "SM3" sticker on the box.

Multiple accounts was not intended? Haha, lol, rofl, wtf have you been playing the last 5 years? *checks her "Show window identification" option* Thanks again CCP!
