Well I tried Mono yesterday and running the "regular" Evemon. It works great, problem is getting the binaries out of the installer. But you might be able to use winetricks to get .net in wine then install it in wine, copy the binaries wherever you want and use mono to run it. The installer wont continue if you dont have .net in wine .
I just had an old installation of Evemon, so I just copied those and updated. Or you just get one of the development packages since those are in .zip format.
I got mono-runtime 2.4.2.3+dfsg-3, I think you'll also need the libmono-winforms if its not yet installed. But since mono is already installed on Ubuntu (Not on Fedora it seems) to run e.g. Tomboy you should be able to run Evemon with "mono EVEMon.exe". (Pay attention, on some systems wine executes everything that stops with .exe if you click on it) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EVEFleets - The fastest way to find fleets |

Would be nice if link to pyfa could also be added to the first post. pyfa is a multiplatform alternative to EFT and works great :)

Except that, unlike Evemon, EFT uses a decent compiler and has not been a problem to run so never really needed replacing.

No, it runs. But it doesn't draw properly on any wine I've tried, and pyfa just seems to be generally better in every way.
Not specifically related to Eve, but links to Mumble, the completely open source voip program and Mangler, the open source Ventrilo client might be nice.

Just tried pyfa out, it's amazing. I never cared much for EFT's interface or GUI -- it always looked clunky and out of place. But this is great. AND open-source. =D

Here's a quote from pyfa's website - "The layout of pyfa heavily based on EFT, the EVE fitting tool."
I guess you don't much care for pyfa's interface then either. :/

After a r/l break I'm back in a limited way. I'll surf this thread and a few of the others and update the page one post with new links to apps and fixes that have cropped up.

For everyone running Ubuntu, mangler is in apt under the package name "mangler" if you hadn't already figured that out.
I have been running it for a few months and have had no issues. I actually like it more than I like Ventrilo.

Edited by: Assassin126 on 30/09/2010 20:50:26 Mangler is a good program to use instead of vent, it will connect to a vent server and ive had no problems with it, just install and play :)
