Ive never had a problem running multipule accounts from the same install.
and if somebody wanted to use that many, then just download and patch the one, and copy/paste for the others, It'll even do very well over a shared network.

i agree here. The user should have the option to retain the patch file, or save it to another location, either way - you can quickly snap it up and copy it elsewhere while patching its happening. Signature --------------------- EVE Online VoIP Services: http://evevoip.alienxservers.co.uk |

As Long as you overwrite the existing folders and files and not copy to a new location, it wont affect your Settings ingame. Wha? |

So you're the reason for the slow download miss multi-client patcher. COPY & PASTE the "patched" game client in to the rest of the clients you need to have updated. The genius gene is strong in this one.!!!
No, the reason it's slow is people who have nothing useful to say writing *****y comments ;-)
If you're a genius then perhaps you can answer my post above about whether copying folders will also affect overview, market settings etc. And if u r such a genius then i expect you also know how to be polite and constructive.
unless you use /lua:off or whatever it is then no, so long as you only replace the contents of the instalation folders it wont matter at all (dont patches usually kill your overviews anyhow?) -----------------------------------------------

Program files are in %PROGRAMFILES%, User settings are in %APPDATA%, which is typically "C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data". User settings for different installs on the same machine are kept under a directory structure like
%APPDATA%\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_CCP_EVE for c:\Program Files\CCP\EVE
or
%APPDATA%\Local\CCP\EVE\c_EVE for c:\EVE
That's why you can move around the eve folder, you just "lose" your settings doing so. Even so, you can go rename the folder to "find" them back.

No, you could even put EVE on a network share and let everyone play it from there (maybe not recommended for performance).

at least put a little checkbox
also the patch gets auto saved in documents and settings\all users\application data\ccp\downloads so you can copy it out while its installing before it gets nuked

Well, I have had plenty of problems. I have 6 installs, 6 icons... Before I did that I had 'issues'.
However, I could run 6 classic clients, but only 2 premium. If CCP have ****ed up the client now I will be pretty ****ed off.... More graphics and more sound? What the hell is the point? I play most of the time with brackets off, zoomed all the way out, no sound and all details off. If I want to see what I hit, I can see that on the killboards. No reason for the client to display it...

quicker and painlesslier
then drag and drop files between computers
Many people have ebil IPS's who attempt to throttle bittorrent traffic during the daytime hours. The auto-install avoids that.
Get a bittorrent client that defeats traffic shaping by encrypting bittorrent traffic and use a random port number.

Copy paste the game folder as its been said already in this thread, eve can be moved around freely.
Dear Mickey, get some manners, or didn't your momma teach you any ;-) It's more helpful to reply with an answer that people can use, with pros and cons of your answer, than just be rude.
Does copying the folders accross each other affect overview, ship/items, market settings etc? I have these setup differently for my accounts. 2 are market/mission, 1 is pvp-merc, 1 is all other. If these are affected, are there specific files I need to leave out of the copying process, or files/folders I only need to copy?
Plenty of people are also having this issue, the helpfile replies are helping these other players as well as myself.
Thanks.
I... don't like you.

You can delete the old game folder and just duplicate the patched one no?
All the settings and whatnot are all saved in a cache folder somewhere in My Documents nowadays I thought?

He mentioned that he does this because running multiple accounts from one install causes frequent crashes and disconnects. I myself have the same problem unless I use classic client (which I can't do anymore), so I may have to do the same thing myself.

Pretty sure settings are saved per character, rather than per install, so the game folder should have no bearing.
That said, I imagine the patch will reset a lot of settings anwyay.
