CCP, please use one method of patching. It is unreasonable and unnecessary to both patch with the launcher, and inside the client itself.
What was wrong with delivering patches in the client and running the repair tool when it doesn't work. |

Brilliantly there is also an option in the launcher to do what you achieved in your shortcut.
Additionally, we have been publishing manual patch for quite some time now, to give people who are affected by some of the launcher edge cases an alternative way of patching if the repair tool fails.
Finally, it is obviously the goal to have client updates contained within the launcher. It, like all of our features, is developed in iterations and will continue to have its feature set expanded. CCP Goliath | QA Director | @CCP_Goliath |

Unfortunately, my launcher doesn't even get to the point of finding the manual patch before throwing an exception.
A few days ago you were offering patches as .exe files - can you do that again, please? I'm stuck at Wednesday's version. |

The exe files are the manual patches I was talking about, with the Launcher being an autopatcher. Have you tried running the repair tool? CCP Goliath | QA Director | @CCP_Goliath |

Not shown is the other shortcut for my ntfs junction. Please educate me on how i can launch multiple clients across separate monitors with different settings using the launcher. Because i dont see it.

Please continue to do so. It is a service that is needed.

When it's feature incomplete or it doesn't work, just say iterate. Because that fixes everything. Honestly, why couldn't this launcher be rolled out when you no longer need to push patches through the client? |

Since Wednesday you have been providing patches as ".patch" files in this thread. Where can I get the exe files you are referring to?
Quote:Have you tried running the repair tool? Of course.
When the launcher was first released several weeks ago, I had to open a petition. In it you can find more than three weeks worth of interaction with a GM in which several things were tried, and logs sent. Send me a mail if you're interested in the petition reference.
The end result was the workaround which I suggested on day 1: Supply downloadable patch files which can be applied manually. And that was working very well until Wednesday, when you guys decided to change the procedure again to work through the launcher for some reason.
The particular problem I have is an exception very soon after clicking the launcher: "No connection could be made to the content server. Please make sure that your Internet connection is up and restart the Launcher." I don't know why it is trying to connect to a server when I am trying to install the already downloaded patch, which is in my Eve directory, as per your instructions.
I have opened a new petition three days ago which has been untouched. And there is a perfectly good thread in the Tech forum which is also being ignored. Should we move our conversation to one of those more appropriate venues? |

I honestly don't see what your problem is with in-launcher patching..... It's convenient, tidy and ...looks nice. |

Mostly it's the "not working" part which bothers me (please read thread). But I'm a bit old-fashioned that way. Otherwise, I'm sure I would agree about the convenience and tidiness. |

It start working for me once I disabled my av and my firewall. Old trick, av's are so much more well behaved that nobody mentions it anymore but the patcher modifies a program and hierustics flag that and interrupt the process and the launcher doesn't recover gracefully from interruptions.
Or so it seems to me. Meta34me |

In my case, I think the problem is that I connect through a proxy server and don't have any control over its firewall settings. I'm able to do most things - including play Eve - but for instance I can't get torrents, and can't get Eve patches via the automatic downloaders.
I may be unique in having this problem, and don't expect special snowflake treatment. If that problem can't be solved, I'll reluctantly just put this game behind me. I'm really bad at eve anyway, and all that.
But when an easy workaround exists (and it did work for me last Tuesday when they last provided self-applying patches), it seems an unusual move for CCP to turn away a paying customer who's approaching his 5th anniversary in the game.
Anyhow, it's not my usual habit to bring up tech problems in GD. No rant, I don't hate the launcher, I'm sure they did good work on it. I'm just posting here because the thread got some dev attention. |

As for patching once the client's started. Meh, those are like ''hotfixes''. And you should know that some of those client updates ARE NOT NEEDED BY EVERYONE, which is why there's that "Uninstall Client Update" option under Settings.

I'll assume you're responding to me...
Clarification would be nice if you are speaking about my post. Since I answered all the questions you had:
1) Why client updates aren't applied via the launcher 2) How to avoid using the launcher unless there's an update (this would be a game update like an expansion) 3) How to start multiple clients*
*Settings are saved and accessed globally, it's a pain but you simple start the game and change the settings per client.
