A lot of errors.
Semantic errors. Syntax errors.
Its something terrible. Everyone in my russian alliance switched the language to english. EVERYONE.
Please fire the translators.
How can i help with russia localization?
Vadim.
P.S. If you doubt of my words i have a lot of examples of translators incompetence.

We can start a voting for every language. Something like "What do you think about xxxxx localization". You will see - russian will get very bad mark.

In Russian version translation of Exhumers is "Эксгуматоры". "Эксгуматоры"- are peoples who dig out graves and take out corpses from it. There are hundreds of similar mistakes in Russian localization, looks like it was translated by Promt programm. Hire human russian- speaking translators

thats exactly what I thought...
you do know that they are exact translations... so you should probably look up the english words meaning and they might be pretty darn similar!

In english it has 2 meanings, one of them is gravedigger, in russian it has only one meaning- gravedigger.

In the english translation for "exhumer" im pretty sure n eve your not digging dead bodies out of asteroids. Alot of times the word Exhume is used to describe someone or something that takes up alot of resources.
Maybe Consumer? but hey apples and oranges

"No-one has conquered the world using beta version" - Evil Overlord Code.
Russian translation is not that terrible - it's just hack-work.
"Перевод выполнялся носителями русского языка. Русский язык несколько раз роняли."
the best translation for this I can do -
"People who translated EVE were speaking russian. Seems they were russian speaking Matari"
As for the words number - dont forget that some games also contain character sounds to be localized.
Starting counting - 700,000.0 words. Assuming it need 5 seconds to translate a single word. 700,000.0*5/3600=972.2 hours. Taking in account really hard combinations that may occur - we can say if will be over 4000 hours of translator work (over 20 sec. to translate a word, appox. 15 minutes to translate the starting post in this topic).
4000/6hours per day = 666 days for ONE (1) man to translate without any haste.
Quote: How can i help with russia localization?
I have proposed help too Reply from CCP when attempts appeared on test server:
14.05.2007 (almost 2 years ago!)
Quote: If you are interested in assisting with localization efforts, I would recommend submitting an application for the ISD volunteer team and selecting the 'Translation Team'. If you do not hear from the Translation Team within a month after submitting an application, please refresh the application and select the bug hunting team.
CCP had more than two years to complete the translation. Result - we have a hack-work.
Conclusion: CCP dont need russian version at all.
Argument: If there were need in quality translation - CCP had more then enough time to a: form a team of russian-speaking players and make a good translation. b: hire for example "1C" (great Morrowind translation, texts, style, almost no issues), and make a good translation.
So what we see now: CCP dont actually need russian version of client, all the improvements will be patch-work because using volunteers is cheap, and we will use english versions to be able to understand each other.
