The retail box definately includes Apocrypha.
This is the quote from Amazon.co.uk
"The EVE Online box will include all nine previously released expansions plus the forthcoming tenth expansion entitled EVE Online: Apocrypha which introduces numerous new features including unstable wormholes to explore and modular ships that pilots may tailor-build to suit their own specifications and needs. All subsequent expansions will be free of charge to all subscribers, continuing CCPÆs commitment to offer free updates and expansions to its subscribers at regular intervals.
Breaking with tradition, the collection of extras will also include 60 days of free game time, a departure from the standard 30 days offered for most MMOGs, allowing players to sign up and get started without paying any subscription fees for the first 60 days of a new account. Alternatively, the included game time may be used to extend an existing subscription or be split into two 30-day codes known as ôPilot License Extensionsö (PLEX) that can be sold to other players through the in-game market for in-game currency."

DONT USE THE SHOPS!!! lol
If your an existing player order it on line... we need as much shop coverage as possible for people who have never heard of Eve before.
It wont do us any favors if we all go and buy the stocks off the shelves, GAME especially usually only stock a few copies of a new release. When Halflife 2 came out GAME in chester only stocked 10 copies!!

I've ordered from GAME, mainly for a cheap GTC due to a friend's staff discount. My local shop has 150 copies in stock at the moment with an order of 100 on stand-by.

It is also interesting to note that it is cheaper to buy the retail pack from Amazon or Game websites than it is to buy a timecard on its own from an online reseller.

You're both wrong. First off the expansion was being patched on the test server still a few days ago, you don't think they printed 1000's of discs in those 2-3 days do you?
Plus theres a dev post somewhere, I'm not going to waste time looking it up to prove it.

Without looking for the dev post I guess that the second patch is not included in the retail pack but the 1.4GB first patch is. So I was kind of right. |

A Dev Response in Game Design during testing stated
The Gold Build disk was shipped to Atari on 14th Jan. It included the latest Client on TQ at the time, which was Quantum Rise. Box Buyers will have to download and install the 1.4 GB Apocrypha patch to play.
The box and be said to 'include' the patch as its is 'included' in the price you pay. Its not physically in the box.

Some internet service providers only (used to?) allow you to download 1GB per day, so that would really really be bad if you cannot buy the whole expansion on disk.
Even for me with great internet access it would really put me off if I bought a new game and had to complete a 2GB download just to play it.

NO, DO USE THE SHOPS
If no one buys copies from shops then shops won't stock it for long.
