Apocrypha, nice update CCP! my views so far.
The Good: Wormhole Space, great idea bout time people were forced into a bit of risk in this game. New effects! love the new turret effects, and the wormholes look mint, same for armor rep effect, matrix cool! some bad effects tho! Attribute re-distribution wicked, this should have been in game for the start, maby id have over 90million SP now if it had ^-^ Fitting screen is slick, i like it alot! Saving ship setups is da bomb, no more farting around when i change from NPC to PVP fits! T3 ships, having different sub systems change look and stats of ship = WIN! gives even more feel to fitting your ship, like you really have a big part of the outcome. The new ambient sounds in amarr stations is totally Haunting, almost feels like some lord of the rings elven soundtrack.
The Bad: Skill queing, nice idea needs ironing out, ive already had problems with training skills i never put into que?? and not following my set plan, but once fixed will be awesome addition, everyoen hates levels 1-3 haha. What did you change with the graphics? pre patch i was getting over 150fps in space at a busy gate, now i get 30 and it looks the same? wth? Removing sounds and not adding anything to replace them?? CONCORD Radio chatter is one! why did you remove this? gave massive atmosphere to even run of the mill times like travelling, or orbiting a gate. Dont like the new Web effect, looks like Wormhole and Jump effect, its like your effects guy just discovered this groovy new effect and decided to use it for everything, lol.
The Ugly: Stargate activation sounds, omg how did these sounds make it in? they are so wimpy and boring, the old Stargate sounds were good, sounded crackly powerfull and just more feel to them, new sounds have way to much bass, can hardly hear them when the volume is at a reasonable level, and just generally sound like the were taken from a less superior game. Warp effect, same deal wimpy and boring, nice effect, but badly implimented, warp feels slow and tranquil, not like the old effect which felt like you were tearing through space! add screen shake or something, and make the tunnel look longer feels to shallow as it is.
Also yes i like to play with the sound in eve, even tho i bet 50% of posts here will be "Eve has sound?" just because you dont use eve's sound dosent mean everyone else does.
But im pretty happy with this patch one of the more interesting ones in a while!
But i really want to know Why my FPS has taken a dive even tho the game looks identical to pre patch, and why woudl you remove thos sounds and not replace them with anything :(

The sound/graphics updates were pretty nice from the ones that I saw.
Queue is a nice addition. that 24h window plus starting a long skill at the end will definately help for those times when you have a skill ending during work, where previously I would put on another lnger skill then forget to finish that last little bit of the old skill
I hadnt noticed the game running any less smooth.. I dont care much for fps numbers, but as long as it runs smoothly without any graphics lag, I am happy.

The graphics are noticeably better, IMHO, just sitting docked in a station. Haven't traveled yet to look at any new in space effect, have just been queuing all those level 1-3 skills I hadn't had the time to sit and watch previously. Still looking for another copy of the full installer torrent to download on my laptop. It got deleted from eve-files

For me the worst thing about APOC is the new "warp tunnel"...it is seriously awful. How any moron looked at this and thought it is better than the old one is beyond me.
The old one gave you a real sense (and sound) of entering warp, and moving at "warp speed", and then exiting warp...
The new one is just a lame flashy graphic that disappears before you actually drop out of warp...it has no sense of speed and is a gigantic step backwards imo.
Good points...
saving set-ups...shield reps...invun fields...armour reps etc.

The stargates WERE awesome on the test server... I was extatic.
Then at the last minute they reduced them to a very pitifull sound effect indeed. You basically have to turn your sound effects REALLY high to get the same effect now. |

I kinda miss the gate activation's weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeCHOW.
I think it needed a little sprucing but not the puny little homosenuous noise it was replaced with.
It was really good for when you weren't quite paying attention to EVE.

Loving Apocrypha so far. Too many things to list and want to note the stuff below is relatively minor.
That said...
- Have to agree the warp tunnel effect stinks. It's ok(ish) but absolutely worse than the old effect. It *feels* loads slower than the old way and just overall bleh.
- I didn't know EVE had sound anyway so add me to that 50% (or more) who don't really care. I turned it on to check it out and was indifferent. Actually seemed worse than what I remembered but whatever. Back to jamming tunes while pod piloting.
- Sitting inside a POS forcefield is now nausea inducing. Whoever thought that this new effect was better? The old one was elegant and subtle. This is all in your face disco puke. I sadly spend way too much time tending POS so for the love of Og change it please!

I like the training queue. Wish they had put this in 3 years ago when I had all those level 1,2 and 3 skills to do. It's nice that I don't have to log in before work to switch skills that end during work.

This.....somebody is gonna have a siezure inside POS forcefield.
I did an escalation complex yesterday.....the structures cused a HUGE FPS hit....like down to 1 FPS....had about 3 CTD's cause of it.
Love the stargate animation, but the sound needs some help.....warp also.

what i really like is the speed gain noticeable when jumping system to system (except in some laggy place/time)
what i really dislike is the new way to interact with agent, i don't dislike the idea totaly but there is a few harassment, first the button switch from under the agent to under the mission description common leave the button under the agent i speak with the agent not with the mission and there is the fact the agent dialogue close each time you accept a mission which create 3 more click to end the fast R&D agent mission requesting trit i allready have in hangar or those level 4 kernite storyline, and not to forget that i forgot to set waypoint to the mission so need to open it all again
why close a windows i never told it to close that is just stupid sry

the next big update should be a sound system to equalise each of the sound so i could put those damm station sound off, jumping sound moderate and ship explosion in mission a bit louder :)
well that's about it :)

There are a lot more things that cause FPS drops of unexplainable proportions ;) Reminds me of EA (or QR - I can't quite remember) when some systems would effectively render the game unplayable because your FPS would drop dramatically the second you enter them.
Right now, my FPS drops from 80 to below 20 whenever I enter warp o_O
Also, the warp tunnel is very very very ugly for me. Looks like black edgy "shapes" around my ship with a big blur blue dot in front of me xD DESTROYED

Seriously, though. I'm not going to enjoy playing an almost-silent game. When something explodes, it better be shaking my apartment walls.

I've only seen the ugly so far. First could not auto or manually update. had to reinstall new updated clinet, no biggie.
But keeps losing connection to server, and lots of lag. Different windows in game becomming unresponsive and have to be closed and reopened.
Did not have these problems before Apo and I don't have ISP problems now since other things work fine. But I guess it will get faster after a few hotfixes.

Looks like CCP reduced polygon counts everywhere. My ships have lost all their antennae and now appear to be boxy. All the surfaces have gone from smooth and space-worn to Lego factory-fresh looking. Smaller engine exhausts are now just holes or surface indentations.

I really guess I am one of the few (if the only) that doesn't mind the warp effect. I am a little worried about the SQ, I logged in here to see it training a skill that I may have set last night. I could be wrong...until I get it downloaded on my laptop, I won't know for sure.
Scanning looks fragged, but I am going to read that article and see if I have an epiphany on that front.

I like a lot of the new features, I'll only mention the things I don't like.
Fitting screen is horribad. For the love of all that is holy, give us the option for the old one.
Sounds are terrible, but it's obvious everyone knows this.
The warp animations, the WH affects and the POS bubble make me nauseous. I've actually experienced a seizure from a game a number of years back, so this one concerns me quite a bit. Please add an option to tone down the animation or remove it please. There's bound to be seizures from these.
Beyond that, it's actually quite nice. It's also nice finally having 1.55 mil rats, so that was a nice surprise this morning.

No, the good thing is people are now enticed into a bit of risk. Nobody's still forcing you through a wormhole.
The popularity of (high sec) wormholes may yet decrease though as more pirates take up 'holecamping'.

i love the new warp effect and the new stargate sounds. that what makes it disturbing is that the sounds are not loud enough. but the sounds are completely messed up, not only the sounds for warping and jumping,.

Mostly because no.1 is really lame and no.2 used to be a lot louder than all other sounds in eve.

Couldn't agree more with both of you. The new sounds are way better, cooler + more subtle. The old ones were outdated and somewhat annoying after 6 years of gate-jumping.
