Add Alloys & Compounds salvage tables to wrecks -- mixed in with the useless scrap-metal & random pieces and bits of ships we leave floating around. Not the loot drops but the actual salvage slot.
Alternatively give us the ability to completely destroy a wreck for a chance to harvest scrap metal or Alloys & Compounds from it (like salvaging but with more explosions). Working with everyone to improve New Eden -- Internet Spaceships Iz Serious Business. |

I'm not sure if you just don't understand or if you're trolling. There's a reason CCP just removed all the drone drops from the game. |

My understanding on the reason was that it was unfair to have the alloys isolated to drone regions & carebears took it as an opportunity to get rid of part of their market competition for drilling rocks. Working with everyone to improve New Eden -- Internet Spaceships Iz Serious Business. |

No, the issue was that gun mining was producing like 40-50% of the minerals in the game, not at all what CCP had intended. They removed them to put mineral gathering back where it should be, in the hands of the miners. |

CCP Affinity wrote:WeGÇÿve recently spent a lot of time looking at Rogue Drones, and ultimately decided to add bounties to their heads. To keep things balanced, the drones will stop dropping alloys, but instead they will have sizable bounties for any pilot who dares hunt them down....The overall goal of all these changes is to make the drone regions more economically balanced, and to reduce the downward pressure on mineral prices from the drone regions so mining becomes more profitable.
Alloys & compounds were so bountiful in Drone region that they had the effect of pressuring the market. Adding a low drop of Compounds and Alloys to wreck salvage tables wouldn't have the same impact that continuous drone loot in a single region resulted in. Yeah, I did. According to CCP Affinity, there was a significant amount of pressure from Drone infested regions that was driving down mineral value. If you have a significant influx of minerals from a specific region -- ie you have an exlusively reprocessable material as a constant drop from an area, then of course you're going to see pressure on the market. It'd be as if everyone decided to reprocess all of the loot from their kills.
I don't see how adding Alloys & Compounds to part of the salvage (not loot) drop tables has the same level of impact to the market as a variable 1:100+ drop for salvaging, mixed in with the broken drone receivers & fused communications relays. If you REALY want to get minerals from wrecks then just reprocess the salvage.

OK, look at it this way then. If adding alloy drops to wrecks would be insignificant, then it's not worth the trouble of adding them, since it'd be insignificant. If it would be significant, then it's bad to add them because it would have an impact on the market. So, you either have no gain or a loss, therefore it's better to have no alloy drops in wrecks. |

I thought it would of been better as a whole to just remove miners instead of **** with loot tables. Miners = useless, stupid skill set that doesn't double as a fleet pilot (have Battleship skills, have gun skills...you are both a miner and a fleet pilot!). |

So don't suggest things that will have a minor impact on game play because it's not worth the trouble of adding them and don't suggest things that impact on the market?
It seems like a rather narrow way of looking at Features and Idea suggestions. I've worked with programmers in the past & even minor additions can be welcome to help break up the monotony of longer term programing & give the developer a "win" in the form of small things that they were able to fix, change, or improve upon. I was under the impression that it was a common practice to help combat burn out for long term development programing projects...so I don't see how suggesting that something founded in the gaming experience (replacing a portion of the salvage drops with alloys & compounds) would be considered so problematic as a suggestion.
It makes sense to me that if a salvager would be looking for valuable combinations of metals or minerals that may have fused into a compound or an alloy when a target was destroyed. Working with everyone to improve New Eden -- Internet Spaceships Iz Serious Business. |

I wouldn't go that far, but I don't understand why we would want to remove an item from the game entirely if it wasn't the cause for the imbalance & it makes sense to me that when people salvage if precious metals have fused into an alloy or compound as a result of the ships destruction a salvager would locate & collect the materials.
It feels like they're filling our sandbox with gravel instead of sand when they take away the little details. Working with everyone to improve New Eden -- Internet Spaceships Iz Serious Business. |
