They are closing in on the problem and have identified two probable causes. At this time, we canĘt say when the performance issues will be fixed, but we will continue to keep you up-to-date as more information becomes available.
Update: Please see the following post from CCP Mindstar for an update on what's been done so far.

Any update on the sockets closeing on TQ?
The first day after the patch I was looseing connection in missions in highsec ever 5-10 mins. Oddly enough, a 3 hr roam in WH space caused no issues.
Today, I see a reply from a DEV about the server outage last night. But nothing about any patches for the server/client.
Is this a known issue, or is it still being investigated?
I've lost the socket on several computers, on several accounts. Always while in empire mission running. Low traffic systems(Node traffic unknown of course).
My Performance is fine, but DCing every 10 mins in a mission is getting too expensive with the cost of T2 drones.

It's not a Jita problem. It is happening everywhere and the entire game is unplayable due to lag.
Similarly, dropping connections every few mintues when running hisec missions is not a Jita problem either.

See here...
Apparently CCP has changed their policy on user information. Threads hide in the information portal now rather than being linked in gd as the used to do. As soon as problems are "solved" threads are unstickied so people can't find them anymore even if they know where to look in the first place.
Consequently threads here are very small (only 3-4 pages) which is very unusual compared to the past. I bet there a many many people who don't even know that CCP has acknowledged issues and is trying to fix them.

lastnight i did some testing i have 3GHz P3 2G DDR2 ram 200 GB harddrive fx5500 256mb agp
fps=frames per second
if im looking at the map, 40fps i drop 1 prob, 7fps i have 2 probs, 4fps i drop 3 probs, 2fps i have 4 or more and o God im not moving!!!! and im not talking about trying to move them aroung, that takes forever.
if your saying my computer is too old(which is more of a computer than 90% of my custumers have (work)), then tell me what i can upgrad to using an AGP card and where to buy it. if not please fix it!!

There are plenty. Off the top of my head, NVIDIA 7800 GS AGP 256M is quite common, doing a quick check shows it has 6x the fill rate of your card (6 bill rather than 1 bill).
As far as where to get one, use a search engine; you'll soon come across one... (ebay in the UK is good here).

Edited by: shado200 on 14/03/2009 14:40:31 ya i love this. the QUESTION IS WHERE, HOW MUCH! i found the card you speek of on ebay, $120 is not an option. i can buy a new motherbord with PCIexpress slot and get a decent vidcard for about that. but that option is a new reload, i hate reloading!! as for jest serfing the internet till i find some site that clames thay have it and spending my money on an untrusted site. no thankyou, i want to buy my stuff from someone what we can trust.
If CCP was a better company (sence thay incresed the minimum requierments on there game and the game is unplayable at thos minimum requiermets) thay would have setup with a site or something to help the comunity with there upgrades and needing new grafixs cards. but $120 on ebay is totoly no help, and telling me about a card that cant be found by a trusted site is also no help, regardless of its preformance!
i have checked with newegg.com, i have checked with the manny wholesalers we use where i work. noone has that "common" card you speek of! (NVIDIA 7800 GS AGP 256M)

PS: I have noticed a mild framerate drop myself when placing probes. I've no doubt they'll fix this, but getting 40 FPS in map view is a bit poor (performance wise)

Really? I have an NVIDIA 8700 w/ 512 Mb on a 3 GHz machine w/ 4 Gb RAM and Apocrypha is still unplayable if there is a system with > 100 people anywhere nearby.
I don't think the problem is graphics lag; I believe it is primarily server lag. In fact, it seems very much like a synchronization problem. The more complex graphics in Apocrypha just emphasizes the server lag (and may have introduced some new thread problems). The FPS is irrelvant when the client is waiting for information and there is nothing new to display. When the server takes so long to respond that you risk timing out and getting disconnected, the client's display threads easily get out of synch and the client needs to be re-synched. That resynching is manifested in rediculous display chop, lost keystrokes, and enqueued keystrokes triggering the wrong actions when they are finally popped. And the resynching just adds to the bandwidth problem causing the lag in the first place.

Game runs perfect even on max graphical settings but I keep getting Eve.exe has closed crashes, sometimes every 5 minutes I simply cant play anymore. Also has effected all my windowed games (Especially Flight Sim 2004) since Eve was installed. Not my card causing it niether cause i swapped it for a new ATI and that did it too.

Disconnect after disconnect after disconnect. Continually crashing in wormholes.....no lag before it happens just instant crash and off u pop one more ship down the khazi.
Granted the patch has only recently been deployed and will have teething problems but it should at least be playable, by playable I mean being able to activate a module without crashing. I don`t have anywhere near the same problems in known space.
Sorry for the emorage but I just lost 2 ships to wormhole crashes.....wouldnt have been so bad had i not known it was a certainty to happen the second time round |

My desktop runs fine even with 3 clients running 3 different accounts. However, my laptop is another matter. I have a Sony Vaio Intel core 2 1.66, Nividia GeForce Go 7400 and 2g ddr2 and Vista. I had trouble downloading the auto patch but installed manually so it is running. However, after a while the computer literally shuts off... it does not crash to desktop it literally shuts off and I need to reboot. The game is unplayable on my laptop when I was able to run 2 clients before... 2 on the laptop and 2 on the desktop concurrently.
I think it is a compatibility issue with Vista but not sure.
Right now I cannot run my 4 gang mining crew and only use the laptop with my trading alt.
Please get it working again...

Today's patch was supposed to resolve some of the lag problems. I was elated to see the lag is greatly reduced for a single client, almost back to Revelations levels.
Alas, as soon as one opens a second client on the same machine the lag goes back to being unplayable. That's true even if one client is sitting in a station doing nothing (iconified in Windows) with no game windows open except the station and chat. The other client will still be in Pig City. (I have plenty of RAM and disk space.)

Well, in fact, you graphics card very old, very outdated and sucked even at the time of its release. The FX GeForce series is known about their awful shader performance.
Buy an X1600/X1650 AGP card, they are much much more faster and not even expensive. If you can't find one buy a HD2600 AGP.

Dude, I have identical hardware which is I guess 2-3 years old now (laptop shipped with 1gig RAM which I upgraded pretty quickly) BUT I have XP. I think your suspicions about Vista on this platform may be correct. So far, I can run 3 accounts off a single client (I never went for that -/Aluha nonsense) at minimum "lite" settings just about as well as i was able to run pre-disaster ... errr I mean pre-expansion.

Both before and after the expansion, I found that sitting in stations was WORSE FPS than in space. Do you mean FPS drop or lag ? Not sure if it would help the current version of the game, but perhaps if they brought back the "don't load station environment" it might help all of us. Either that, or fix the inherent FPS drop in stations would be nice.

I was actually checking on this myself last night, using the monitor function in Eve. Maybe it's just the rig im running it on but i seem to have more FPS in station than out. 200 FPS in station and about 170 in space... No idea why mine would be opposite.

This new update is terrible. What the hell kind of company alienates an entire group of players by making their graphics cards obsolete? I just bought a new account right before apocrypha and I can't even play now. It really shows how much you guys care about the people who throw their money at you monthly. Who can i contact for a refund?

Why would you expect high FPS in a station? Unless you move the camera the background is fixed and all you have are essentially text displays so there is no need for high FPS in a station. I would be worried when the FPS is high in the station, as some have reported, since that would indicate EVE might be overdriving the graphics card.
BTW, I was referring to the other client, the one trying to run a mission outside the station. If one client is iconified and in a station doing nothing there should be virtually (sic) no load to drag down the other client either on the client side or the server side.

The obsoleted cards are .... obsolete.
They require shader model 2 (specifications released in 2002 by Microsoft) and a discrete card (not an embedded card). Basically all the GPUs that are not embedded and have been released in the last years should be able to support SM 2. If your card does not support SM 2 it IS obsolete. If your card is an embedded card, you are doing it wrong because those are not cards ment to be used for graphics applications (no matter if they support shader model 2, 3 or 4, they are not designed for demanding graphics applications).
It may even be that your card was not an officially supported card since the beginning. A lot of people could run EvE on non supported hardware. But that does not mean CCP shall support it! Actually ... a lot of people STILL run EvE on non supported hardware. But again: this is not officially supported.

PLease CCP - fix these massive problems - my entire corp is pretty much MIA till the game place becomes reliable again. Sitting in stations (3 characters) running skill sets till the resolution on the many crappy performance problems.

Yes, with the loss of the classic client, I am limited to mining on this machine, which I spend about half my week at. Missions or anything where I might die is not feasible, PvP is out of the question. With the classic client, I could play and get a decent fps. Now I get a slideshow.
