We are aware that many of you have experienced sudden performance issues when playing EVE and we have two teams on two different continents working around the clock attempting to resolve this. They are closing in on the problem and have identified two probable causes. At this time, we can’t say when the performance issues will be fixed, but we will continue to keep you up-to-date as more information becomes available.

Always good to hear that you guys are on top of it as usual I haven't been able to log in yet due to busy schedule, but these issue threads are kinda scaring me away from eve for the coming eve. (also, a guy reported mission sites not despawning, you seem to have it figured out but I though it might be worth mentioning)

It only took them 5 years to find and fix that nasty Ghost Training feature^h^h^h^h^h^hBug. So based on past performance I expect the performance issues to be resolved any time now. CCP as a company has a great reputation, it's development, customer care and quality assurance teams are second to none.

i have had trouble with certain station that have lost of detailed textures in them such as gamis station. i have found that by going into or near these station for too long causes my computer to lock up and i have to manually cut power to shut down the computer. i have been using the solar system map to workaround this, i just leave the solar map open when approaching or while sitting in certain stations. the problem gets really bad and the computer locks quickly if i am viewing these stations ind=side while having the fitting window open.

Edited by: Takara Rourke on 12/03/2009 23:03:31 I was directed to this thread by a GM in an answer to my "stuck character" petition. My character is in a station, enters game... and then sits there at "Enterint Station". The station is in Mattere, not a market hub. I was told to come here to find the solution to my petition. Obviously I didn't find it.
The other two characters on this account load just fine, so this isn't a client/ISP issue. There is something wrong with this character or the station she is in. I am now into the second day with my main character stuck, and unable to log on.
Can someone please tell me what the fix is for this that the GM was pointing out to me?

Edited by: Sollicen on 12/03/2009 23:10:34 The lag is getting out of hand, I just tried warping to a gate in a system with less than 20 people in and I kept appearing back at the station like time was being re winded, this happened for at least a minute before I finally saw the stargate and stopped at it, then when I tried to fit my ship, it took about a minute for modules to actually appear in the slots...
Game is unplayable right now.

Any update on the sockets closeing on TQ?
The first day after the patch I was looseing connection in missions in highsec ever 5-10 mins. Oddly enough, a 3 hr roam in WH space caused no issues.
Today, I see a reply from a DEV about the server outage last night. But nothing about any patches for the server/client.
Is this a known issue, or is it still being investigated?
I've lost the socket on several computers, on several accounts. Always while in empire mission running. Low traffic systems(Node traffic unknown of course).
My Performance is fine, but DCing every 10 mins in a mission is getting too expensive with the cost of T2 drones.

It's not a Jita problem. It is happening everywhere and the entire game is unplayable due to lag.
Similarly, dropping connections every few mintues when running hisec missions is not a Jita problem either.

See here...
Apparently CCP has changed their policy on user information. Threads hide in the information portal now rather than being linked in gd as the used to do. As soon as problems are "solved" threads are unstickied so people can't find them anymore even if they know where to look in the first place.
Consequently threads here are very small (only 3-4 pages) which is very unusual compared to the past. I bet there a many many people who don't even know that CCP has acknowledged issues and is trying to fix them.

fps=frames per second
if im looking at the map, 40fps i drop 1 prob, 7fps i have 2 probs, 4fps i drop 3 probs, 2fps i have 4 or more and o God im not moving!!!! and im not talking about trying to move them aroung, that takes forever.
if your saying my computer is too old(which is more of a computer than 90% of my custumers have (work)), then tell me what i can upgrad to using an AGP card and where to buy it. if not please fix it!!

There are plenty. Off the top of my head, NVIDIA 7800 GS AGP 256M is quite common, doing a quick check shows it has 6x the fill rate of your card (6 bill rather than 1 bill).
As far as where to get one, use a search engine; you'll soon come across one... (ebay in the UK is good here).

Edited by: shado200 on 14/03/2009 14:40:31 ya i love this. the QUESTION IS WHERE, HOW MUCH! i found the card you speek of on ebay, $120 is not an option. i can buy a new motherbord with PCIexpress slot and get a decent vidcard for about that. but that option is a new reload, i hate reloading!! as for jest serfing the internet till i find some site that clames thay have it and spending my money on an untrusted site. no thankyou, i want to buy my stuff from someone what we can trust.
If CCP was a better company (sence thay incresed the minimum requierments on there game and the game is unplayable at thos minimum requiermets) thay would have setup with a site or something to help the comunity with there upgrades and needing new grafixs cards. but $120 on ebay is totoly no help, and telling me about a card that cant be found by a trusted site is also no help, regardless of its preformance!
i have checked with newegg.com, i have checked with the manny wholesalers we use where i work. noone has that "common" card you speek of! (NVIDIA 7800 GS AGP 256M)

PS: I have noticed a mild framerate drop myself when placing probes. I've no doubt they'll fix this, but getting 40 FPS in map view is a bit poor (performance wise)

Really? I have an NVIDIA 8700 w/ 512 Mb on a 3 GHz machine w/ 4 Gb RAM and Apocrypha is still unplayable if there is a system with > 100 people anywhere nearby.
I don't think the problem is graphics lag; I believe it is primarily server lag. In fact, it seems very much like a synchronization problem. The more complex graphics in Apocrypha just emphasizes the server lag (and may have introduced some new thread problems). The FPS is irrelvant when the client is waiting for information and there is nothing new to display. When the server takes so long to respond that you risk timing out and getting disconnected, the client's display threads easily get out of synch and the client needs to be re-synched. That resynching is manifested in rediculous display chop, lost keystrokes, and enqueued keystrokes triggering the wrong actions when they are finally popped. And the resynching just adds to the bandwidth problem causing the lag in the first place.

Disconnect after disconnect after disconnect. Continually crashing in wormholes.....no lag before it happens just instant crash and off u pop one more ship down the khazi.
Granted the patch has only recently been deployed and will have teething problems but it should at least be playable, by playable I mean being able to activate a module without crashing. I don`t have anywhere near the same problems in known space.
Sorry for the emorage but I just lost 2 ships to wormhole crashes.....wouldnt have been so bad had i not known it was a certainty to happen the second time round |

My desktop runs fine even with 3 clients running 3 different accounts. However, my laptop is another matter. I have a Sony Vaio Intel core 2 1.66, Nividia GeForce Go 7400 and 2g ddr2 and Vista. I had trouble downloading the auto patch but installed manually so it is running. However, after a while the computer literally shuts off... it does not crash to desktop it literally shuts off and I need to reboot. The game is unplayable on my laptop when I was able to run 2 clients before... 2 on the laptop and 2 on the desktop concurrently.
I think it is a compatibility issue with Vista but not sure.
Right now I cannot run my 4 gang mining crew and only use the laptop with my trading alt.
Please get it working again...

Today's patch was supposed to resolve some of the lag problems. I was elated to see the lag is greatly reduced for a single client, almost back to Revelations levels.
Alas, as soon as one opens a second client on the same machine the lag goes back to being unplayable. That's true even if one client is sitting in a station doing nothing (iconified in Windows) with no game windows open except the station and chat. The other client will still be in Pig City. (I have plenty of RAM and disk space.)

Well, in fact, you graphics card very old, very outdated and sucked even at the time of its release. The FX GeForce series is known about their awful shader performance.
Buy an X1600/X1650 AGP card, they are much much more faster and not even expensive. If you can't find one buy a HD2600 AGP.

Dude, I have identical hardware which is I guess 2-3 years old now (laptop shipped with 1gig RAM which I upgraded pretty quickly) BUT I have XP. I think your suspicions about Vista on this platform may be correct. So far, I can run 3 accounts off a single client (I never went for that -/Aluha nonsense) at minimum "lite" settings just about as well as i was able to run pre-disaster ... errr I mean pre-expansion.

Both before and after the expansion, I found that sitting in stations was WORSE FPS than in space. Do you mean FPS drop or lag ? Not sure if it would help the current version of the game, but perhaps if they brought back the "don't load station environment" it might help all of us. Either that, or fix the inherent FPS drop in stations would be nice.

I was actually checking on this myself last night, using the monitor function in Eve. Maybe it's just the rig im running it on but i seem to have more FPS in station than out. 200 FPS in station and about 170 in space... No idea why mine would be opposite.

This new update is terrible. What the hell kind of company alienates an entire group of players by making their graphics cards obsolete? I just bought a new account right before apocrypha and I can't even play now. It really shows how much you guys care about the people who throw their money at you monthly. Who can i contact for a refund?

Why would you expect high FPS in a station? Unless you move the camera the background is fixed and all you have are essentially text displays so there is no need for high FPS in a station. I would be worried when the FPS is high in the station, as some have reported, since that would indicate EVE might be overdriving the graphics card.
BTW, I was referring to the other client, the one trying to run a mission outside the station. If one client is iconified and in a station doing nothing there should be virtually (sic) no load to drag down the other client either on the client side or the server side.

The obsoleted cards are .... obsolete.
They require shader model 2 (specifications released in 2002 by Microsoft) and a discrete card (not an embedded card). Basically all the GPUs that are not embedded and have been released in the last years should be able to support SM 2. If your card does not support SM 2 it IS obsolete. If your card is an embedded card, you are doing it wrong because those are not cards ment to be used for graphics applications (no matter if they support shader model 2, 3 or 4, they are not designed for demanding graphics applications).
It may even be that your card was not an officially supported card since the beginning. A lot of people could run EvE on non supported hardware. But that does not mean CCP shall support it! Actually ... a lot of people STILL run EvE on non supported hardware. But again: this is not officially supported.

PLease CCP - fix these massive problems - my entire corp is pretty much MIA till the game place becomes reliable again. Sitting in stations (3 characters) running skill sets till the resolution on the many crappy performance problems.

Yes, with the loss of the classic client, I am limited to mining on this machine, which I spend about half my week at. Missions or anything where I might die is not feasible, PvP is out of the question. With the classic client, I could play and get a decent fps. Now I get a slideshow.

There's some sort of a GPU (overheat due to) busy-looping happening while docked; has been bug-reported ages ago, nothing happened since(TM). Something wrong with the way the graphics being drawn.
Interesting thing is that accessing to Galaxy Map drops the station side busy loop, -- "Entering MH means instant death. It's worse than 0.0. Even the asteroids shoot back." - Alex Harumichi [GRD]

Hay all,.... Im not gonna throw a wrench in the works here, bu till just throw in my two ISK. Im kind of the harware hacker myself. When i first built my gaming system i had heat problems constantly to the point that something had to be done before i started loosing hardware. heres what i did: i added a fan to the port on the back to pull the heat out of the case. Then i added a fan on the front of the case blowing IN bringing in fresh air making sure that there was a good cross section of air in and out of the case. In a lot of cases the front BEZZEL sometimes needs to be cut out for MAX air flow, thats somethign that a DREMMEL can handle that is if you have one,...can be had at LOWES for about 30 bucks,....not 30 ISK <---joke---<<< I dropped the temp on my proc and the GPU over 35% with a couple simple modifications to the case. Something else that you might want to look at also is if your powersupply is big enuf. If its maxxed out,...they tend to run hot thusly making other components run a bit hotter than they should. I went from a 500 watt to a 650 watt and yes i did see an improvement in the performance and the heat of the components. Remember,...Heat is best left outside and in this case leave it outside of the case. for those of you that might need assistance,...you can EVE-Mail me anytime,...Ill look up th especes and help anyway i can. -=+>xXx<+=-

I still get disconnected due to "Closed Socket" or "Connection Lost" every 10-30 minutes. Once I managed to stay online for about 2 hours and then disconnected, but this happened once. The usual is about 20 minutes.
I have already opened a bug report, it has been considered a known issue. I started noticing the problem in february, still before Apocrypha went out.
Since then, I do not dare to get into missions, because I will pontentially lose my T2 drones. This issue is preventing me from playing the game properly. I would appreciate at least some feedback on this.
Other than that, keep up the good work, the game looks and feels excelent (when it¦s not crashing )

Scanning crash:
I h ave noticed that I can recreate a closed socket bug with scanning probes. Use more than 2 probes. Set them at 32 AU scan range. Hit scan. Now, when the scan is done, just hit scan again without moving any of them.
Makes me crash with a closed socket every time.

Nothing like the good ol "hey, we forgot to test something important, like performance". The UI inputs lag horribly. Whatever you did, it's pegging my processor out to the max, which it didn't do before.
That plus the font size / face that looks like crap... I'm done guys. Maybe I'll try it out 6 months from now, but I'm not paying $45 / month for 3 accounts of this nonsense.

I think it is at this point definitely critical that you CCP, focus on troubleshooting the lags/bugs/random crashes we are ALL experiencing, before bringing new additions to this game, revamping various ships and god knows what.
Because introducing new/more code will make it only worse. Clean the base, even if that takes a long time. Best games are not always the most shiny ones, a lagless experience is just heaven for most players you know.
If you go on like this it will be unplayable at the next expansion, so please look for a healthy future, I'd like very much to play this game for the next 5-6 years, please don't break it anymore like you've just done with apoc.
Thanks.

Some of my mates lost battleships tonight on a 30 vs 30 people fight because their client crashed ... what is this please ? 60 people in a system, does that overflow a cluster ?
Well apparently it does. You are running Microsoft SQL servers, so I'm not surprised. Any average quad opteron with Oracle or MySQL will perform 16x better in load than its SQL server 2005 tard**** counterpart. Read the word load, when everything is quiet it's probably the same, but under load Microsoft systems/software just suck. Compare an average IIs server with Apache on Freebsd, you get the point.
Well the most of us Players dont have these Problems. Im Sorry that you have these. But where is the Prob create an Peti wait for the GM. Well Ok the GM will tell Serverside is everyting Ok but sometimes it will happend.
Why your thinking that the SQL from MS sucks ? Please explain it.
Or why did you Edit your Post 5 times ??
See ya.

After patching EVE i'm experiancing strange network type lag around all stargates, i'm warping in and reach the gate, then i'm suddenly back in warp, then i'm beyond the gate warping backwards, etc. After 5 of so attempts i reach the gate and my ship stays put, its made autopilot unusable as it just sits there telling my i can't apporach in warp (or something like that).

I have the same "rubber banding" issues around some gates and stations. But my biggest problem is the "Lost Connection"'s that I have started getting yesterday
I usually run 3 accounts at once...but now I can only run one for some reason. It seems that if I have multi accounts running it will lose connection on all of them...but one seems to do fine (whats the deal?)
If I can not play my other 2 accounts then there is no need to pay for them

I tried the search function, but didn't find something proper to the subject. Not sure if either it doesn't work or I just used the wrong buzzwords.
However, here is what annoys me the most lately and also several people on the German Forum. And that is own Turrets doesn't make Sounds
I tried quite a lot things, checking and unchecking the "quieter Turret Buttons" - no effect. Warping to another place and then testfire on Asteroids - no effect. Recently I heard sounds from my 650mm Scout Artilleries, but after i changed to 180mm Autocannons i neither see an Firing anmiation, nor do I hear any Sound. I surely have the guns activated, they are running and enemies also pop.
What might be the problem? Beats me, when on the one hand Artillery rumbles nicely but next minutes Autocannons do invisible magic damage without a noise

Quote: Well, in fact, you graphics card very old, very outdated and sucked even at the time of its release. The FX GeForce series is known about their awful shader performance.
Buy an X1600/X1650 AGP card, they are much much more faster and not even expensive. If you can't find one buy a HD2600 AGP.
I also have noticed massive lag with the probing system and only recently upgraded CPU and graphics card(Athlon X2 4850e, ATI 4670).

I'm also experiencing this issue, and so does a friend of mine. Used to have between 200 and 300 FPS docked and now it's jumping around 40... Same in space. Tried the obvious things like updating drivers, clearing cache etc... Also only EVE is affected, everything else is running smooth... Any input?

Ive had this aswell, simple way is to enable VSync, that means it doesnt do 200 fps in station but relaxes with 60, 75 or what ur screen is showing. Your eye can only see 30 anyways so...
In Esc Meny, Display Graphics, tick Advanced Settings, then in Present Interval, select Interval One. Click Apply.
U should now have 59.x-60Fps if normal TFT screen or around 75-80 if higher. Since most cards out today can handle this fps easy, it wont have to work @ 100%, = no heavy load = no overheat.
