You must be in space and click Show Info on the Mining Module. The Attributes tab will show you the mining amount AND damage amount. A mouse hover over the module will say the % amount of damage as well.
If you are mining and getting an Orca Boost, you can check that Tab as well for your boosted amount.
Decay speed varies randomly from crystal to crystal.
You cannot find this out when docked up. Thanks again CCP |

Mining crystals can survive 40 damage events, so it is simpler to think of them having 40 HP and taking 1 HP of damage per event:
Structure HP: 1 Volatility damage: 0.025 1 / 0.025 = 40
Damage events are random, and twice as likely for T2 crystals:
T1 Volatility: 10% per cycle T2 Volatility: 20% per cycle
T1: 40 / 10% = 400 cycles on average T2: 40 / 20% = 200 cycles on average
Given a 3 minute (180 second) strip miner cycle:
T1: 180 * 400 = 72000 = 20 hours on average T2: 180 * 200 = 36000 = 10 hours on average
I like to reprocess my crystals when they reach 39 / 40 = 98% damage on mouse-over, so I get all the Nocxium back. |

That is great! Thanks for explanation and thanks for the math. Like that!
Although I have another question:
Even if damage events are random, are there any particular actions that likely would trigger damage event like early cancel of the cycle, frequently changing of the crystal, warp out from the asteroids belt when crystal is in the middle of cycle and so on? |

Every time you activate the module there is a chance for crystal damage.

Correct. Never found those formulas (WHERE did you find those) but my T2 Crystals last from 8 - 12 hours depending.
And the 'higher' ore crystals have increasingly higher amounts of leftover Nocx I believe, like 100 for Veld and 200 for Jaspet....something along those lines IIRC. |

Did you mean "auto repeat off" is worse than "auto repeat on" or just that doesn't matter? |

Every time the strip miner begins a cycle, whether manually started or automatically, there is a chance for crystal damage.
