I manage to catch em but i haven't had a lot of success in taking them down. What's really the minimum requirements shipwise when going after missioning BS's. Also if anyone's got any advice on missionbusting specific setups for thorax or ruppy, so far been using plated setups, that would be helpful or any other advice for that matter.

ruppy with a nuet and afterburner? orbit at 1000m kill drones then wear him down...
you prob want a repper on their too...
ship i use is pilgrim but thats a lil more expensive then a ruppy.

it can be handy to go in the direction of e-war , ecm drones tracking disruptors that sort let the npcs do the damage...in this situation nos&neuts can do more damage then guns
it really depends on what ship your attacking (tracking disruptors wont affect a raven much)
and dont forget the usual, web and disruptor..so they cant run away

well its case by case, but if you know youll be fighting, say, battleships and battlecruisers and that most of the guys will be caldari youll do well to tank heavy on kinetic most of the time. those silly cladari LOVE kinetic. this of course changes if you notice them shoot something else for once. t2 ships really make a difference. a good t2 cruiser, almost any, can take out a mission runner.
i prefer my ishtar, but i know a guy who uses pilgrim/curse regularly. using e-war and your high resists and low sig plus AB will make you a huge pain. far as minmatar goes i cant advise a ship but as good as the rupture is you wont take out a passive drake with it, and i would expect most ravens would have too much of a tank for you. -------------------------

So plated setups with mwd's are a bad idea i'm guessing, I wanna try and reduce my sig above all it sounds like from what I'm reading right?

Sounds like you've got a mirrored ceiling. Hubba hubba!
I prefer overkill on mission busting. More DPS and excess tank means you can better handle unforeseen events. Things like corp mates of your target showing up while you still have corp aggro or over-tanked drakes or passive shield domi/phoons.
Bringing a sledgehammer helps make things go your way more often than not.

Plates/passive setups directly and indirectly have a direct effect on how hard you get hit.
The idea is to get under the guns or minimize missile damage by having a smallish sig and a quick ship.
If I were to fly a ruppy against a missioning BS, I'd fit an active tank, afterburner, and neuts along with my 220's.
Mission boats are almost ALWAYS active tanks that have fit to perma-run their reppers. A single medium neut is usually enough to put a raven over the edge.

Indeed, assuming you have the speed to catch up if their out of disruptor range, and the scan res to lock them before they warp off.
I get kills with a smaller hull that I wouldn't have with a battleship quite regularly.

If this guy's friends know as much about aggro mechanics as this guy does I'd LOL watching him try to break up a mission in the way described!

Edited by: Tzar''rim on 17/03/2009 01:10:15 If you go against a mission running BS it'll be a tug of war, so a ship that relies on passive EHP probably wont work too well unless you use the same size ship as the target or bigger.
Fit resists for his damage type and expect/fit for a long fight if your ship is smaller than his. Also; using a ship scanner (on an alt) to determine his weakness (cap recharge, resist gap) and fit accordingly.

Mission-runners usually have a gigantic tank, but next to no DPS. So make sure to active tank and get ready for a very long fight. But once you do finally crack their tank you get to reap all the tears and officer mods. ------------------------------------- My other alt is a Ferrari |
