Hey guys.
I have now been returned to this wonderful world of internet spaceships, I hope it doesn't take any "magic" out of the video :)
Just to reiterate, The video's intent is to demonstrate the options available and capabilities of such low skilled pilots. The fact that Kel and I have been playing a while isn't really an important factor as we are attempting to utilise the small amount of skill points in order for this to be effective.. That's the challenge.
Anyway, thanks for the comments - we had a quick burn around yesterday, the characters can now use microwarp drives and almost fully T2 fit a rifter (aside from the guns), which is quite something really. We intend on keeping these characters going after their trial expires.

Really enjoyable video and the quality is excellent.
Speaking as one of the many who have a minmatar pirate alt for having a few laughs when I'm bored you have captured the essence of low isk investment/low sp pvp.
Some of the most exciting fights I have had have been at the controls of the rifter

Most epic vid for eve i've ever seen. Most are just boring uneditted kills on capital ships (which, while is impressive isn't really exciting).

This made me LOL so hard.
"EVE Theater" and getting close enough to scramble, getting your ship replaced.
The "zOmg"'s all over the place.
Epic win
If anyone asks what you can do in EVE without training all learning skills to 4/5 and spending 3 months of training other stuff, then this has to be the ultimate "Watch this" video.
Even though you are both experienced EVE players, knowing how to approach a target (tracking, etc), this flick really hows what is possible.
Thanks for the entertaining video, its a keeper IMO. --

downloading the video now.
But from what the replies are i can't wait to watch it XD
I'm a real preacher of the 'u don't need shiit loads of SP to pvp well' rule. As i'm relatviely new to eve and have been pvping for a while already so i know this rule is true through actual experience.
I'll edit this post after i watch :) ----- I corpse tank... Ships r for noobs. |

I enjoyed this video immensely. The flow, editing, and comments were done very nicely. Though the side-by-side portions started out good, it made it very difficult to see the actual fight. I wouldn't get rid of that in the future as it does allow us to see how you were working together. In the future i suggest having the side-by-side bit shorter and then switch to a full size with the other in the corner, like i've seen in other videos.

Being new, and having been given this video as proof/inspiration that my claims of EvE being unfun for new players....I'd first like to say...great vid, the editing is awesome.
Anyways, as I said I'm a bit new, I was wondering, are you using torpedos or missiles? I guess it would be easier to understand if I could make it out a bit more clearly on the fitting screens.
Basically what people are saying, yeah, you guys know whats up, so I doubt someone like me could reproduce it.
But what the hell, I'll give it a try....all I can do is mess up and learn from it I guess.

OMG
I had the EXACT same thing done to me last week. WE should totally form a club lol.
I had my passwords to my both email accounts (work/personal & backup), ebay, msn - the lot. I couldn't get my password reset, because the email address it was linked to had been hacked.
I couldn't get my main email back beacuse the backup email ahd been hacked. Jesus its a nightmare.
I sent a petition to CCP as soon as I found out. The petition mainly consisted off my account had been hacked, no I didn't share my account, I can supply personal details/debit cards etc to prove its mine.
And I recieved this reply, about 2 weeks later:
Quote: Hi. Thank you for contacting EVE-Online customer support. One of your petitions has recently been closed and we would greatly appreciate your input on how well it was handled so we can continue to improve our services. To do so, please follow this link, select the closed petition and fill in the survey. Best regards The EVE-online Customer Support team
Great reply eh?
Well it ended up alot easier to just talk to the crazy b*tch first, and sorted it that way.
But I feel you man,
Good luck getting sorted.

Hey Ashen. In this video we are actually using 1 Rocket launcher for a little bit of extra damage and garaunteed hits. The main "DPS" of the ships comes from the close range autocannons though. Minmatar are a funny mix, I once had someone describe to me that flying minmatar was like "strapping yourself to a chair with a machine gun and throwing yourself down the stairs" !
In a frigate, generally you're never going to be doing OMGWTFPWN damagage but as long as you can hit them and they can't hit you, you're in with a chance, in most of these cases we're trying to orbit at close range using afterburners, which gives us a low signature radius and coupled with keeping a high angular velocity. It's not at all beyond your capability it's worth trying anyway, and if you lose a ship it's only a rifter! you can eve theatre some isk out of the nearest hub easily!
Couple of other answers to questions:
RE: Laptop theft - When she stole my laptop, outlook express was saved on there with my registered email address, this was used to reset my passwords.
RE: The ex-girlfriend club: Yup - basically the same thing happened to me, she'd send me a text message saying "If I ever want my stuff back I can forget it" etc... etc.... few days she told me "I could have just had them back" if I'd talked to her.... to high a risk given my director status in Quam... which she should have appreciated given she came to the last Quam meet with me!

What? no leveling to 80 first? Not needing ubergear? No grinding???? Damn what a crappy MMO this is /goes back to WOW
Seriously, very nice vid showing EXACTLY what EVE is about; putting in effort and get experience, NOT about shipsize, shipcost or SP amount. Well done.

Edited by: Tranka Verrane on 31/03/2009 10:53:59 The complaint I have about this and many other similar videos is too much black space around the video, especially when you have both screens side by side, I can't see **** that is going on. Any chance of you redoing a version more zoomed in? Not everyone has a 22 inch screen.
Good work on on the content but presentation 4/10.

Finally got around to watching this, fantastic video, further proof that EVE is not (completely) about SP. 'EVE Theatre' and the text popups had me lolling.
A rerelease in H264 with less wasted space would be nice though :p -

This was seriously inspirational and also had some very funny parts. As a new EVE player, it is great seeing such things are possible. Of course there is a lot to be said for player knowledge, but still, it's obviously doable.
Hit me up in-game if anyone wants to get a Rifter team going.

just because he has previous knowledge doesnt mean that this game is any less about tactics than sp. just because he went to prov doesnt mean he went for easy kills. to many people 0.0 is endgame for whatever reason. the knowledge he has could be picked up very easily by a competent new player who is willing to learn in one afternoon of training. your not explaining the entirety of eve, just frigate combat.
i started march of '08 and i had a good group to learn from and quickly specialized in one race and one weapon system. a year later i can use all frig hulls except electronic attack (meh) and all cruiser hulls except t3 for my race. t2 large guns, t2 sentries, and t2 ogres. gunnery isnt perfect, but ill survive without the 2% from spec 5s. at this point i am close to on par with anyone else for my races BSs, with exception to player skill. i dont really fly them much. my most fun fights are still in an AF.

Great idea and vid :)
Proof is in the pudding, newly born eve noobs can get out there and pvp, there game knowledge and skills behind the keyboard will dictate how much success they have. Just as it should be, by getting out there and learning the hard lessons they will learn fast ;) |

Wow, this video really took me back to my solo thorax days in lowsec. Low skill points, cheap ships, "**** it" attitude and getting kills you have no business getting :D
A+ Video mate. I'm going to show this off to some buddies of mine as a true example that its all about the player knowledge in EVE. The skillpoints are a force multiplier to that knowledge, but they never ever replace it. Shame about losing the hulk kill - 2x rifters for a 100+mil isk exhumer? I've seen far worse trades! The Brutix kill is esp. luls worthy though - "need help?" LOLOL!
As others have said though, the twin-fraps footage side-by-side generates huge amounts of black space, and drops the resolution of both screens to virtually impossible to see. In the future, for that sort of action, go the picture-in-picture route, and just cover up the chat windows with a miniaturized feed of the second ship. Even then, only do it to show off something particularly important that you are doing in conjunction (or the other pilot is doing alone), as its a lot of extra data to proccess while trying to focus on the action and what is happening. Just having gang members on bracket (overview not neccessary) and a watchlist is 90% of the information needed :)
Just my 0.02isk. Its a worthy download just for the hot, nubile rifer action!
