So the recent news reports from Devin say that close to 650 ships or so were lost in alliance warfare Sunday night. Being somewhat new I am aware of the basic concept of PVP but what I don't understand is how so many ships can be coordinated all at once or how anyone would support these kinds of towers and operations. Where are all of their resource miners while this combat is going on? How do they handle fuel requirements for so many player owned stations? What kind of lag is associated with having so many pilots fighting in one system at once? Again, how do they coordinate, simply through eve voice or through third party software such as team speak or vent? And is there any realistic way someone close to newbie status could fly out there without being killed in order to see one of these huge fights, or is all of this just CCP propaganda that doesn't actually take place? How can you keep track of all the acronyms and corp and alliance abbreviations? How do they train new recruit pilots, or do they? Do they train them in high sec or out in 0.0? Do these people have jobs or are they paid to simply be available on Eve 24/7. How can you have such large operations going on while relying on simply when your best fighters and pilots just happen to be online? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Meth.

In a combat ship... or still ratting.

Custom webapps.

Lag gets pretty terrible tbh.

Fit a cloak on your Ibis and sneak in

GoonFleet in particular only recruits new players. Old players have a lot of bad habits that we can't afford to have. For instance caring about your ship. All newbees are giving disposable ships that they are encouraged to get blown up, eventually they don't see ships as something they are tied to or bonded with or whatever, just a means to an end. |

Edited by: Doktor Soet on 17/03/2009 09:14:04 lots of questions, some i might be able to answer u from my personal expirience.
first where r the miners. dunno how every alliance handles this but if theres war even the miner stop mining and jump into a pvp ship if the war is happening in their own terretory. some time ago i was in d2 and when the great war started with d2 invovled in fountain i was surprised that the miners didn`t stop mining in branch. even as their numbers were needed in the west.
the logistic behind a war is in my opinion always a nightmare and i would definatly not be suited to organice such a job. other players love this, i`m pretty sure. from what i`ve seen it happens always in nearly the same way. party team A descides "nice region we`ll take it ". so they look for a npc station not to far away from the operation region. thats where they bring in the transporters, carriers,... filled with mods ammo, ships,... whatever is needed. in case of the tortuga operation in period basis, one big moving op from low sec with titans all the way down to pb was organized. was rly impressive to see such an op. then some smaller happend for those that couldn`t be online at that point. mc had stations there we all could use (perhaps someone will tell u how this all happend. heres a video about it: Link)
coordination normally happens via vent or team speak. dunno if the alliances use eve voice but i would think no they rn`t.
ur question about being a noob and simply watch such a fight. well there was one player once. innominted nightmare (?!?!? someone may correct me here. not sure bout his name). ha was able to see more of eve and 0.0 space within months then a lot of others see through years. but its a longer story and to shorten it for u, yes it may be possible but u need a cov ops and even with a cov ops it may be very very hard to sneak in a locked down system. and as u r neutral to all involved u`ll get killed if they get the chance. so basicly no u r`nt able to just watch such a fight. if u wanna see something like this just join an alliance as soon as u can fly an interceptor or dictor. then u r usefull.
i learned pvp in no "flight school". i simply joined an alliance flew into fights with them and just followed orders. i learned by doing. if u wanna pvp u have to learn to keep cool in stressfull situations and not starting to panic if u get primaried. learn to accept ship losses. the adrenaline rush and heart beating from ur first engaments will stop at some point (oh man sometimes i would love to still have it from time to time ). so my advice is, jump into a corp and simply listen to those that have done it for years. follow their orders and get used to the abilties of ur ships.

There really isn't any way to get to these fights if you're not a part of them, you will most likely run up against a gate camp before you get close to the system... and you would definitely find one when you jumped into the system.
I can assure you they do take place, nearly daily (on different scales). Here is a screenshot from the tail end of the fight last night. Note the overview I'm using is only showing support ships, you can see there are many more battleships, dreads, carriers, etc

Or Goons pretend to take you in, often asking for isk or your ships first, then kill you for their amusement. Be cautious.

Well. they are quite clear in how they recruit:
Quote:
GoonFleet does not openly recruit. Unless you are a Something Awful member (and meet our requirements there) or a real life friend within physical hitting distance you aren't getting into GoonFleet. Don't bother trying, no matter what somebody in game told you. You are not getting into GoonFleet.
Getting scammed after that (in what is it, 48 pt bold red) is ... let's say -- unneccesary ?
now.. who do i pay that 200m to get in :P ?
