Edited by: Marcus Gideon on 18/03/2009 16:16:48 Umm... good job?
You found a single aspect of EVE that isn't completely tailored to fit YOU and YOUR needs. One voice, out of 40,000 online. Out of nearly 250,000 subscribers... YOU haven't found a use for this one particular aspect.
I suppose you've made use of every single function and item in the game, besides this then? Or would you like to make a list of everything that YOU don't find useful?
All your skills are uber... goob job. So why not quit whining in forums, and go be uber in-game? --- Life altering changes, to combat the acts of a extreme minority... means you're letting the terrorists win. "Players don't want Variety. They want THE BEST" |

If I'm training a 2 day skill and it ends at 3am I'm losing several hours training.
If CCP get to be all anal retentive about me paying for every SP then by god I want every SP I pay for.
Especially since the feature is there already and this'd just need a variable changing.
The solution to this is simple. Start the 2 day training, when it gets to be less than 24 hours, add the next skill into the queue. Simple! You dont have to wait until 3am to add the next skill to the queue because it is an OPEN ENDED queue. The skills must START in the next 24 hours, but can finish weeks out....

Skill Que does indeed "rock"
Even after 6 years of play I still have many skills that fall into the below 24 hours
Take the new subsystems skills, I got all these and chucked them in to train and put 44 skills changes into the que for the first 24 hours. Imagine what this would have been like without it. A very usful tool indeed as my home computer is knackered and I can only log in and change at work. I just have to be carful at the weekends and put on a skill over 2 days at the end on my que.

I'm also a 5 year player and have found the skill queue to be a 99% complete success. The only limitation i can see with the current setup is the inability to add skills you don't yet have the prereqs for. A fix I'd like to see for this is removing the pre-req check from the inject skill action. The check would still remain in the queue to start training a skill, but this would allow you to purchase the books, inject them, and queue them up after the already queued pre-req.
Doing this would move the 99% greatness to a full 110%.

Agreed. Especially since the game already checks the prerequisites before starting to train a skill, even if it is already injected. (A skillqueue bug reset my science skill to 0 apparently after starting cybernetics. When I logged in, cybernetics stopped training ("completion imminent..." at 10% or so) and when I tried to restart it, I was told that I'm missing a prerequisite - science III). So that check is already there. Don't know why they are doing another one on injection.

Edited by: Clansworth on 19/03/2009 17:43:38 Yeah, i noticed this issue back when the pre-reqs for starbase defense management were changed. I had the pre-reqs, and when they changed it to require anchoring V (which I didn't have) I couldn't continue my training until I got anchoring up. Seems like it would be a relatively easy fix to just remove the check on skill injection, and I don't see a negative aspect to this.

TBH, the whole skill queue idea was born dead. The active players deserve to have an edge over the non-active ones. It's a small bonus for giving a lot for the game. The skill queue should be removed instantly, and for good.

Edited by: Fullmetal Jackass on 20/03/2009 22:03:04 It's amazing what people will ***** about. 3 years in game, and I'm absolutely happy they finally added a skill queue. Is it perfect? No, it's got a couple bugs, but pretty darn close.
If you can't figure out how to make this awesome new feature work for you, then you fail at eve.

You hit the "apply" button? I missed it once and was a bit surprised as well. It's not only drag & Drop.

My Thoughts on the Skill Queue Awesome if you only have one active Character on an Account. Not sure what I mean? Ok you have Character 1 and Character 2, if you want to auto start a skill on 2 after 1 finishes a skill in 4 hours time, YOU CAN'T!
Oh this is a a new glitch that I just found, if you use a skill queue to train something on character 1 and you are currently logged into character 2 you can't start a skill in character 2 until you have logged into character 1 received the empty skill queue message and then re logged back into character 2 to start you new skill.

Welcome to Eve. You've always had halt all training on one character to start training on another character on the same account. At least in the 3 year's I've been playin.

Maybe I worded this badly, I was actually referring to the skill queue finished on character 1(ie No skills running), if you are currently logged into character 2, you can not start a skill on character 2 without logging into character 1 first. You were previously able to start a skill on character 2 without logging into character 1, provided that character 1 wasn't actively training something.
