This was 1st raised to my atention yesterday by some one asking a similar question that took a while to understand what he was on about.
Taking 21 Identicle Thrasher Death Mails
Damage Taken: Pre-Patch 2643 2576 3887 *Augmented by NPC 2636 2583 2587 3228* 2537 2541 2540 2940 7325 *Augmented by NPC 2716 2282 2252 2532 2592 2500 2485 ----- Post Patch 1514 1676
Let's round that to 2500 and 1500 for pre/post patch.
Thier is variation in Dmg tacken, but -1000 after patch is a deviation that nessessitates a raised eye brow. <- doesn't quite seem fitting but as close as I can get
I shall continue to document my data with the help of enemy ammo, I am sure thier will be a noticable trend averaging 1500. /join Cheeze & Whine Club

I have noticed the same trend.
Just take a look on the caldari militia killboard and you will see some mighty tanked ships blowing up to a way to low dmg recived. Dosent seem to be ralated to lag/heavy packet loss.
My latest loss was a ferox tincan that blew up after reciving an astoneshing 7900 dmg in near none lagging shootout, atleast for me:).

armageddon with 3 plates, no trimarks, = 16,843
Typhoon with 3 plates and 3 trimark = 22,939

Yeh i noticed this the other day when my thorax took around 2200 damage on the killmail and i went BANG. Whereas if have more than 2200 in structure never mind anything else.

There is a bug in killmails that is under-reporting damage taken.
I noticed this from one of my own losses and then compared the damage shown as taken in the combat log against that shown on the KM. In my one test, the KM reported about 10% less damage than that recorded in the log.
This has been reported as a bug although they've not even filtered it yet and it was about a week ago...

Yep , I did not know about this .... got ganked in high sec today and lost a Hulk with 373 dmg .... Was totally confused ... now it makes sense

Killed an unfit rupture. It took a whole 255 damage before it died according to the killmail. Also killed some rifters the other day, they too died to less than 300 damage according to KM.
