since the Apocrypha release the market for implants have across most regions increased by around 50% (eg the standard ones from ~14m to ~20m). Is there a larger manipulation happening (sounds too large) ? speculation on new characters (can't see new starters spending 100m on a implant set) or has simply the demand increased ?

someone mentioned plexes being manipulated. Is that where implants come from? The stunt is said to go like this: "warp in every 12h with trial accounts, destroy a certain spawn that allegedly de-triggers the key-holder to spawn". The sudden unset with Apocrypha would then ofc be caused by the introduction of the training queue (makes training trial account over and over again alot easier, doesnt it?).

Silly people entering wormhole space with implants (and having to pod themselves home) -> increased demand. Some people actually coming in from the box sales -> increased demand. People reactivating older alts now that remap is possible (and wanting to completely maximize the new combo) -> increased demand.
Nothing to decrease demand... so, obviously, prices are going up. They'll be coming down again soon enough as soon as people wisen up (and go in implantless clones in wildspace) or the novelty fades (stop going there so often), newcomers and reactivators get what they want and no longer need more.

well, *those* implants. They come from the LP store, I know. There other implants than the attribute ones rising steeply in price though. Even the -5% copy time ones. Or especially those? Hmmm..

Also there's probably quite a few people who've slacked off on mission running lately to do wormholes instead. Fewer people running missions means reduced implant supply as they're not getting the random implants from storyline missions, and fewer LP's to buy implants from the LP stores with.
Once the shine has worn off the expansion a little most of them will probably go back to what they were doing before.

Attribute implants from +1 up to +4 are supplied by storyline missions (as no one with half braincell would accept them from LP store) - now as Akita pointed out it is quite likley that some m,issionrunners have stopped running missions for now and are pking at wormhole space. Thus increased demand plus lower supply.
Or just old good market manipulation. Or implant prices moving up to level where some dumber people would be willing to accept them from LP store.

pretty good points here

False, u know this... but i know what your trying to say
nothing NEW to decrease demand

This is because you need the old implants for the new +6 attribute implants. You need some reverse engineered stuff from wormholes and a couple of +2, +3 and +4 and one +5 implant to create a +6 implant. There is only a chance of 65% that the creation process is a success (can be increased with skills), so people are breaking lots of implants in the process. Because of that the demand has skyrocked, and so did the price.

There are no +6 implants (elite). What are you talking about? Is this a ploy to further drive up the cost of implants that do exist in game??

Actually, +6 are "- Advanced". +7 are "- Elite". And neither one exists.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is because of a few people who just bought up the market of high end implants in an attempt to drive up prices. rather fun to undercut them by 20 mill and seeing them panic

These two may be help keeping it up but the price spiked within a day of the expansion iirc. Jita was 'closed' that day and a couple days afterwards. The supply dried up, demand hasn't caught up.

I did something like that with one of the T2 ammo markets. Undercut everyone by 30% and watched the price collapsed to about half of what it was. I laughed...then cried because I was hoping someone was going to buy me out.
I have nothing constructive to add to this discussion.

Personally I think it's due to the improved way they are organised in the market - much easier for people to find what they're looking for.
(can't believe non of you market experts mentioned this!)

There's another minor factor. Come to think of it, it's kinda major.
You can no longer refuse storyline missions. Think about that for a moment. In the good old days (last month), if I got a crappy "go 4 hops into highly camped lowsec in a freighter for 6 million, kthxbye" I'd tell the agent to go screw themselves with an Iteron V.
Six missions later I'd get to try again.
Now I have to wait a whole week for the crappy or factional storylines to expire before getting another shot from that agent. I have to grind 16 more missions (rather than six).
So, yeah. Storyline implant supply may be taking a hit in combination with increased demand.

Interesting point. Doesn't explain attribute implants though.

Really you had a reduced number of missions to do to get a storyline if you refused one? Never heard of that.

I used to trade with +3 implants, damn I should have thought about this happening. Would have been like 2billions benefit if I hadnt sold all the implants before apocrypha

Certainly some of this I think .
Another factor could the a few mission runners taking a break from missioning and trying their luck against the new bad guys and some WS plexes. (it's still PVE after all). I suspect it wouldn't take too many mission runners trying something new to affect the market since there is a reasonable volume there.
I noticed the spike when the patch first came out and bought up everything I could from the areas traditionally with competative prices. No complaints about the profit margins here .

Lol a fair price? What do you consider a fair price? And TBH it doesn't really matter what u think a fair price is, supply and demand dictate what the price is. There is no such thing as "fair". There may be small amounts of speculation but overall they have a small impact on the market since if they push the price up too high demand drys up, prices crash and they loose lots of moneys. So re-think that a little bit.

Actually, the prices for Ocular filters are heading past the magic 24million mark, which means that the 12000LP + 12million ISK = +4 implant deal is now pushing past the magic 1000ISK per LP mark, so it is becoming viable once more.
