Hi,
Need help placing a safespot maybe 30 AU outside of a given system. I'm stashing stuff that I don't want anyone to find.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks

Have someone fly a probe there, probe down their probe. Go to it.
Theoretically this should work, but I'm not sure. I've only heard you can probe down other players' probes, not tried it.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

no results from probes. at all. although an entire filter group is dedicated to that

There is a trick where you asign fighters and do something that makes them warp off somewhere, they will warp off and stop at the maximum distance (on the edge) of a system generally making u much harder to scan down ( but not impossible )
make a safe and lay down a secure container and stuff ur gear in there.
Will find out from the guy that made the crazy safes i got awhile ago and post later -------------------

I have heard this as well. You let them chase after a ship and have the ship warp away and then recall the fighters. The fighters supposedly takes a big detour on their way back and if with a bit of luck you can scan them down at the far reaches of the system. I think pre-apochribba it may have worked, but I have not tried it myself. Now, with the new system, the problem is you need more than one probe to scan them down and it may be next to impossible to get a 100% hit on the first attempt. Assuming the fighter will be gone the next time you try to scan and that they don't make the same detour the next time you try it, it may be impossible to make deep safes now.
If we begin to talk feature requests, I think it would be really cool if scan results with less than 100% strength were warpable. You obviously might land far away from your actual target, but that would still add a new dimension to the scanning system and it would make space feel more open, instead of the boxed in feeling that you are left with with the current system.

Probing probes is not possible, has been intentionally disable to prevent just that scenario ..
moveable probes + possible probing = instant deep safe.
Due to speeds needed to actually travel long distances a safe that far out is not viable (would take a year or so to go 1AU at 5km/s).
I usually make my can-safes somewhere off grid, ie. warp to sun jettison something and head into the sun until jet-can disappears and bookmark spot. You now have a spot that another person needs probes to find if he doesn't know it is there.

It never seizes to amaze me with what you guys can come up with using the engine behind EvE.

You can make bookmarks while warping. These bookmarks may be along direct warp routs between warpgates/stations, but they would still be hard to find and very far from anyone easily reaching them.

Eeesh...
The problem is that these new scan probes have a 256 AU max radius. I want to leave ships in system for days on end (you won't believe the effort involved in getting set up where I am).
Anyone wandering into this system could cause me all sorts of problems with the right scan probes.
Doesn't sound like there's a way to protect against it.

Assuming flying 24/7 at 2km/s it would take you about 2.4 years to go 1 au, or to get a good dss at ~300au, you would have to fly for 720 years or so. So, no, that's not a great way to do it.
Why not anchor a pos?

As you can't probe a can, just make a half decent safe and don't spend along time near it. á á

You pretty much can't anymore.
I have some deep safespots 50+ AU off a system which were from the times when you could fly that far after a few downtimes with stupid speed setups.
