Hey, I have had this headset for a while and for the past few days whenever I kill something or switch targets to lock onto something I hear a strange clicking noise in my headset.. almost as if someone disconnected it and then reconnected it
The problem with that though is that I can have music on or something running in the background and it will play fine.. but I will still get that loud obnoxious clicking noise.. what could it be? I am assuming my headset / soundcard isn't having any issues.. as it is ONLY in eve and only when I do certain things.

is it a click or more of a pop?

Its more of a pop I guess you could say, like I said.. Imagine someone disconnecting and then reconnecting your headset but the sound from your computer does not get cut off

I'm experiencing this too. Maybe it is the soundcard. What card do you use? Mine is a SB X-Fi.

I'm also getting a popping/clicking noise whenever I blow something up. Sounds like the audio for the explosions is corrupt or something.

I've been getting that too, mostly on explosions when I'm zoomed out really far.
This has resulted in me finally disabling sound for Eve. I feel... 1337 somehow.

Edited by: GavTheMighty on 20/03/2009 09:55:27 Same using logitech headset get a popping sound during combat or after a warp in etc. and sometimes the sound in one ear goes then comes back again after a few seconds. Funny thing is I used to get this from eve years ago using other headsets too.
Some things never change I guess :)

I've heard the same thing.
X-Fi here as well. Also, since the last patch my eve sounds have been much lower in volume than normal, other application seem uneffected. Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Sahwoolo Etoophie ([email protected]) |

Bugged missile explosion sounds (or perhaps ship explosions). I've got them too, or rather had them for the ~ 30 seconds I tried EVE with sound enabled because of the supposedly all new sound effects after the patch.
How to PVP: 1. buy ISK with GTCs, 2. fit cloak, learn aggro mechanics, 3. buy second account for metagaming

This means that the sound buffer is empty before more content is added to it.
If the CPU is not allocated time to add data to the buffer before the buffer finish playing, it will do that.
What are your system specs? Running no other CPU intensive apps at the same time as EvE could help.
This has surpassed the Yarrdware specification and has been dubbed Uberware. |

I get that same error also on my USB headset.
I have a Core2 E4500 so it should be fast enough to handle the audio.

Same thing has been happening to me also.
It seems to happen when I change the camera perspective to my ship. I can face the camera looking towards the rear of my ship, moving left makes my right speaker pop and moving right makes the lest speaker pop.
I have a Realtek ALC1200 chipset and it happens when using either USB or headphone jack.

Apologies for the delayed response, I was watching a movie, making breakfast etc..
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4ghz 4gb RAM 9800 GT overclocked from 600 core bus to 700 Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit (Not sure on the sound card)
This has happened multiple times, once with vent, firefox, EVE and AIM running and once with just EVE and vent.. It doesn't seem to be related to strain on the CPU as I am ALWAYS at less then 60% CPU Usage / 70% RAM Usage

With my 5.1 system I have it in the rear speakers when there are some rats around in the belt while I'm mining.
Problem is, it's like a power spike that pushes the membrane all the way in one direction for a very short time. I don't know how long my speakers can stand that strain before they take damage.
(Sound adapter is a Terratec Aureon 5.1 USB MKII, using Microsoft's generic "USB Audio Device" driver.)

I have also noticed a popping noise while playing. I thought it had something to do with aging hardware, but it does only happen when playing Eve.

I've experienced this also. Sometimes the sound goes out completely and I have to disable and enable the sound in the control panel to restore sound.
Sounds like an error on CCP's part -- I've got a new 7.1 channel higher end sound card and it looks like alot of people are experiencing this.
