I like the new look of the rocks, but it is time that the belts themselves got a new look also. Take our real life astroid belts for example, they are in orbit of our own sun. Instaed of having many u-shaped belts that realy look very unrealistic in shape and size. We would have one or two belts a few AU's in diameter, and kilometers thick and wide moving in orbit around thier parent star, with many warp in areas. Players can warp along its length creating new bookmarks so corps would have thier own spots in the belts, so they can mine along. It would make eve even more realistic and more awesome. There are many others who agree with me, that I talk to, and is somthing that needs to be done.

Frank, do you have like 2-3 clusters of TQ size to spare to CCP? So they can hold all that beauty you described here? -- Thanks CCP for cu |

I believe they have been wanting to do system wide belts for a while now.

They have been planning system wide belts, so I assume that this idea is fine to implement without breaking the cluster. Frank may be on to a winning idea for how they do it here..

That's nonsense. The amount of information associated with a simple asteroid is so small that you could litter a solar system with them. That is, until you get the idea that each and everything has to be done through a database There'd still be grid limitations I guess. Can you leave/enter a grid without warping?
Besides, I remember them talking about moving belts out of the DB at some point. But it's probably low on the list of priorities given the fact that miners seem to be happy with so little actual gameplay.

Its not a bad idea. CCP have mentioned system wide belts before. Just don't make the mistake of saying 'realistic'. If you want it to be realistic, asteroids should be scattered thousands of kilometers apart...as they are in real life... ------------------

If you want realistic, they should be bumping into each other breaking apart and former smaller asteroids.
It's an idea for asteroid regeneration.

In a real life ôdenseö asteroid field you still canÆt see from one rock to the next with the naked eye. Make the asteroids bigger, so it takes some time mining them, and revamp the Survey Scanner, so it scans for the nearest rocks, and give a warp in BM. DON'T PANIC! |

I think one of the issues with this would be lag, no server lag, but lag on your on system, currently i have to play eve on the lowest of all settings and it still lags out if there are too many ships/structures/roids on screen, if all you could see was asteroids in huge belts, the lag would become unusable for many people, and tbh probably not only those on god awful laptops like mine.
