I need some advice on my blasterthron setup,I wanted to give it a shot (I usually fly a raven) and I checked by myself how destructive it can be.Anyways, heres my mess-up:
HI: x7 Ions blasters x1 Standard with defenders(nothing else can really fit :P)
MED: x1 Cap booster with 800 charge thingies x1 100mn MWD x1 webifier x1 20 km scrambler
LOW: x2 armor hardeners x3 medium tech 2 armor repairers(it holds well, really) x1 cap relay(hardly squeezed, cant figure anything else here since I got practically no CPU/PG left) x1 named CPU
Any thoughts?I know its not best, hope not worst tho :P Thanks

Edited by: Diabolik on 20/08/2004 05:39:24 Replace your ions with less cpu hungry guns, you shouldnt use a cpu on a blasterthron, in fact, using modal electrons is prolly the best choice ( 6 or 7, depending if you use med smrtbmbs ( against torp spitters ) or hvy/med Nosferatus, as for the loslots, 1 cpr, 2 hardners ( active or energized t2/commander loot ( the active commander loots are a must with half the cpu usage ) ) ( 3 for unknown pvp encounter... ), 2 lrg named reps if you can, as much mag field 2s as possible.
It's pretty much that... Ganking setups are a different matter tho.

Well in my humble opinion cap booster 800 charges are way too expensive.
You could drop the webber, fit a cap recharger 2, this may enable you to go without a co-processor in the low slot....a cap power relay may be fitted in its place.
A further cap recharger 2 or large cap battery could be fitted in place of the large cap booster in the mid slot.
Drop 2 of the 3 armor repairer 2's (even though they are very good) and fit 1 named large repairer, this will leave an additional low slot for another cap power relay.
Your gonna need all the cap recharge rate increase you can get to maintain >30% while you get in blaster range (using mwd), continual armor tanking and large blaster firing.
I use a similar less powerful set up on my dom and like it very much.
Large nosferatu is also nice for close range fighting...your opponent is deaded if his cap vanishes.
I think the webber should be sacrificed...cos the chances are that if you can get into webber range of the opponent then soon after those blasters are gonna start hurting anyway regardless of the webber.
oh and i found that 1 med armor repairer 2, 1 kinetic and 1 thermic hardner can withstand continual fire from a 1 mill gurista raven quite easily, I can mine bistot with my feet up until a certain alliance show up or those nasty blood armas and apocs turn up.
Have fun and i wish i could fly a raven

Sorry i forgot to mention that if you are planning on using defender missiles would a rocket launcher not be better than a standard launcher due to is superior rate of fire?

Actually its high ROF winds up being a disadvantage in that those 1st several defenders thrown out would wind up targeting the same incoming missle. Also a rocket launcher has a very small capacity. It can hold only 10 defenders which will disappear quite quickly when firing and leaving you 10 seconds of reload vulnerability.
IMO an assault launcher would work better. It can hold a shed load of defenders (60) and has a faster base ROF than standard launchers (12 vs. 15 seconds). It also gives you the option of equiping lights to help deal with up close pesky frigates along with your dronage.
But since you're equiping a "Blasterthron" I would recommend neither. Because 'getting close and personal' means those defenders will never have time to intercept any incoming missles except on approach. Try using that 8th slot for a Nosferato to leech cap which the Thron can never get enough of.
The assault launcher would do for a med to long range setup using rails. Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt. 'Abraham Lincoln'
