Heh. I was hoping to see something as bad as my first rifter...
http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=8339594
I should, in the interests of saving some face, point out that I fit that rifter in rage after having had my retriever ganked by Yakutat. I should however also point out that I don't think I've ever seen a worse fit.
Oh Yakutat... if I ever find you again you faceless bastard! http://reduplication.wordpress.com/category/explore-low-sec/ http://reduplication.wordpress.com/category/live-low-sec/ http://mrsnypes.blogspot.com/2010/07/burnt-lands.html

this was back in the day when i actually still lived in highsec and had never ever done something pvp wise... our corp joined the caldari militia, and i actually flew into tama, and asked in local for a militia fleet, this invicta guys fleets me... warp me to a safe and kills me...
pro fit as well
Oh this is classic. This is the exact type of welcome one would expect from a typical eve player. Perfect example of the game as a whole, actually. Lost a bit of coffee while laughing and reading this.

Went into a wormhole and forgot to bookmark the way out. Eventually probed an exit.. to nullsec. Hopped from system to system to system until finally, last gate before leaving null - camped, owned, podded.
Given that two of the three who killed me have more than a trillion isk worth of kills to their name, I don't feel so bad about them getting my little noobfit (shield booster + armour playing ahoy!) Probe.

Happened during a major invasion of Insmother against Atlas Alliance by PL, Goons, and Russians.
Hero tackled a lone Megathron in a belt during a massive supercap battle. I was trying to escape the horrendous framerate lag from all the drones, so I warped to a belt. Found a Megathron there, alerted my fleet, and tackled it. My fleet showed up piecemeal, and I held him down long enough for others to get tackle.
I died, and apparantly my fleet somehow didn't kill the guy I tackled. Maybe he got away or something. I don't know. |

I was... what? About one or two months into EVE? The corp that recruited me (see: "deceptively conscripted" ... GÖÑ u lonnie!) received its first war dec about a week after I joined. I logged in and all the directors are telling everyone to stay in station. I listened and obeyed like a good little nubbin; stayed in station, went afk, made a sandwich, and came back 10 minutes later. "Is it safe to come out now?"
The CEO of our corp says it's okay but not to wander too far. I happily proceed to jump 2 systems out to grab a level 3 mission... only to jump into a rather large blob of orange. Me: "Uhhhh... they're here." Bittervet CEO: "Who are?" Me: "Targets. I um... war targets. I have a Rupture, an Armageddon, and ummm a Rapier and... Bittervet CEO: "Shutup fluffers! Where are you and can you get back to gate?" Me: "What? Umm... Mirilene?" Bittervet CEO: "Burn back to gate!" Me: "Ummm... help... I've decloaked and they are shooting me!" Bittervet CEO: "sigh*

About a month into the game I saw a module I fancied in a low sec system.
As everyone knows, mixing tanks (and with crappy modules at that) is the best way to survive in low-sec.
I jumped into Tama (!) thinking I would pop to the station and back out before anyone even noticed me.
I had time to notice the rather large battleship (I didn't have time to notice what it was!) that was next to me on the gate.
BOOOOOM! I was in my pod thinking "Wtf" and then all of a sudden I was back in the station.
I convo'd the guy and had a chat with him - he was really decent about it and actually apologised for popping a noob - sent me a million isk and wished me the best.
The worst part is remembering how at the end of our chat, I threatened to hunt him down and deal my revenge, no matter how long it took.
I still cringe about that when I think of it....

... now this one, see. Hold on, it makes sense. See, it's a PVE fit. See? I lost it in this manner: I jumped through a gate, shot a rifter, warped off, laughed about having done this all the way to the next gate, which I couldn't yet jump through, which had a cruiser on it. You can't blame this PVE ship for a loss like that! That's just gate mechanics. CCP, please nerf gates. |

My first ever loss: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=9598200
I remember that I was traveling through lowsec looking for something to kill because I wanted to try pvping. I was undocking from a station and saw this cool looking battleship-thing that I had never seen before. I never thought to try warping off, as I was certain that the station guns would be enough to protect me. One insta-pop later I was down one tristan and up one valuable lesson... |

My main's first pvp was when ratting in AAS in a Vexor when I had about 3m SP. Following corp advice I'd fitted a scram "just in case". A Wolf took me on, I frantically asked for corp help.. they arrived to find a Wolf wreck. Lesson: Never underestimate drones.
Many years later, I was gatecamping in null when an Itty 3 jumped in. I killed it. Then I Alt-Tabbed and realized I'd wasted my own alt who was bringing me supplies. Lesson: Never drink port when gatecamping
(That was my alt's first death, so I guess that applies to the thread..) |

Old account. Was running an L4 mission in hi sec. Some cat in a Probe scans me down, warps in and starts looting wrecks. He's going wreck-to-wreck and would eventually get to my mission item. I'm in the same system as my cheap gank Merlin, so I warp off to pick it up hoping I can get back before he makes off with my mission item (selling for 10M on contract at that time).
I get back, and burn towards him OH'd AB. Get to within 10km, lock up and unload. Through the shields quick and into armor. That's when I get locked up by a couple Thrashers. At this point, I know I'm dead, so I'm thinking I'll just pop this probe. I OH everything and pop the probe just as I'm into structure. 2 more volleys of 280 arty from the thrashers and I go boom.
Satisfaction of popping the probe was nice, but lost the mission item anyway. |

Deen Wispa wrote:But the loss that eventually got me into PVP was my being ganked in my Mega while running sleeper sites with my corpmates. I was tanking for a while before going down. And I know we could've taken them if one of my guys had a scram. But despite the loss, it was such an adrenaline rush that I knew I would eventually want to get into PVP. Win or lose, I just enjoy the excitement that anything can happen in combat. And every once in a long while, local smack will deliver.
Pretty much the same story, never pvp'd before, was in a wh running sites solo in a hyperion and got ransomed by 2 pirates, I fought till my cap boosters ran out and asked for a ransom as I'd read about it. They agreed, I payed and they let me go, from that point onward I decided never to spend a single SP on pve again and brought some t1 frigates down to low-sec, I think this was my fist actual pvp loss:

January 2009, after a lot of research I joined this thing called "Factional Warfare" because I wanted to pvp without nullsec politics, didn't want to go pirate. I had spent tons of time reading about fits and ships and had skilled fairly well for a decent rifter fit.
I found this minor plex in sujarento, went in. A caldari wt came in in a thrasher at range. I went to attack him, got killed on the approach (ab rifter approach arty thrasher @ 20km for the win). Promptly podded right afterwards.
That was my welcome to pvp. |

I've been playing for a about 2.5 years , have been very careful, pretty carebearish and have avoided being podded or ganked. I had just joined Red vs. Blue to get a little PvP experience but I needed to get into Jita to claim and then sell off my CCP gift. RvB has a strict policy about getting podded in JITA so I decided to be safe and clone jump in.
I made the jump to Jita, the phone rang, and at the same time I wanted to check my ship inventory so I clicked on ships icon and turned away for just a moment. When I glanced back at the screen , I realized I had clicked on un-dock instead, and there was flashing red war target camped right outside Jita. I clicked stop, and tried to re-dock but he nailed me and it was clone city for me. Besides losing 125M in implants, RvB will boot you unless you pay a 500M fine which I had but would have left me with few iskies left, so I decide to quit and avoid the embarrassment and the poverty.
Lesson learned, LOOK CLOSELY before you click, and pay friggin attention to what you are doing...

So there I was couple weeks, maybe a month in to game I wanted to go to lowsec. I recently purchased a Caracal with my hard earned level 1-2 mission running isk (lol). I lasted a total of 15mins. Decided hey lets rat, what's the worst that can happen? I got this big bad Carcal no one is going to mess with me I tell ya! Nanophoon warped in, didn't take long. My friend in the thorax at least got him to structure. We left in our pods laughing the entire way back at the time it took to loss are ships.
This was Before KBs were around, it's sad because I'd love linking my raven I lost with Heavys Missiles fitted and god knows what else.

2-3 months in the game, had read a lot about nulsec riches and how you could farm millions just by belt ratting, and I was tired doing L3 missions for peanuts, so I get my trusty Cyclone down in the GW and start doing my thing, raking in BS bounties.
GREAT! I was king. Making ISK like there's was no tomorrow!

The worst is, in the middle of the fight for my life, the guy just warped away! Now, with more experience, I realize he had had a disconnect event, but at the time I had no clue and just continued happily looting the rat's wrecks. Ofc, he logged back in... :P |

Not first, but first remembered. Battle for Villasen POS when FW just started out. Got me hooked. Multiple engagements, scouting around systems for which I had no clue how they were in relation to Villasen. Got killed twice, got podded twice to Orvolle which allowed for faster reshipping. Used 'Set Destination' to find my way back to fight. |
