Since Apocrypha, I get a pretty frequent message regarding overheating graphics card. This happens running 2 accounts even in med or low (yuck) settings. Without getting into tons of technical detail of the current setup, what is a good recommendation for a new card? It's as good a reason as any to go by something. Naturally, cost is a factor, but not the main one.
Any helpful recommendations are appreciated!! _______________________________________________

Try going into splash screen and press esc | graphics | advanced | change from interval immediate to interval one.
Good luck

Card=SAPPHIRE 100195L X1650 512MB Board=ASUS M2R32-MVP580X CrossFire CPU=AMD|A64 X2 4600+ 65W AM2 2.4G 2Gb RAM
I could add another of the same card in Crossfire mode. I don't know enough about that to know if it's a working solution though.
Thanks.

Clean the card out, its bound to have a layer of dust in it which will not help cooling. Also make sure all your case fans are clear and clean. Blocked airflow will cause overheating of components so you need to check that its all flowing as designed before looking at replacing things. ----

Okay, CCP's crappy forum ate my last post and I don't care to write it all out so I'll just do a lot of paraphrasing.
What temperature generates the over-heating message?
Are you having any problems other than the message? If it's just the message then putting in a water cooling system might solve the problem, especially if your card's exceeding 95 Celsius but if it's more than the message it might not fix the problem. I went several months last summer without an AC and even after dropping the system temp. by 20 Celsius and the GPU temp. by 10 Celsius I still had the exact same lockup issues after putting in a new AC that I had without one.
Cleaning might help but at this point it won't solve the problem. Unless you had a major dust storm and your house let in a lot of dust you won't usually see this sort of over-night change from simple dust, but if you do it likely means something's damaged at which point just cleaning it won't solve the problem. Go ahead and look at the card, and the rest of your system for that matter, and clean it out. If you're careful it won't hurt you or the system. Be sure to look between the fan and the heat sink for your CPU as well as taking apart your power supply. The first, last, and only time I've cleaned one of my power supplies was after I'd owned it for going on 5 years and it had a couple ounces of dust built up in it. ____________________

I built this system a little over a year ago, so not too worried about opening it up and cleaning. I did actually add another fan to the GPU and no more message. Admittedly though, the card was low end when I bought it but up until now has run well enough.
What it all boils down to is that I have found a reasonable excuse to upgrade and am looking for some suggestions. Where else to find good graphic solutions for Eve than from other Eve players, right? _______________________________________________

The advice in second post is good, either set interval to one or force v-sync on directly in the video card settings. You probably wont see any difference, unless you have cybernetic implants instead of mark 1 eyeballs, hehe.
I had problems with EVE and DoW 2 overheating my GF GTX 280, it stopped after I forced v-sync on. If that doesn't help get some cooling installed. I personally like Zalman products, but there is plenty other good choices out there.

Overheating graphics is not CCPs fault. But AMD/nVidia. Its due to graphic cards high power porfile and drivers needed to skip cycles to match their TDP. thats why something like furmark can make a 4870X2 use 385W while its designed for 275W.
I have the same issue on a 8800GT. I would recommend downloading Rivatuner to adjust the fanspeed or simply downclock the card abit. Or hope its fixed in new drivers. --------------------------------------
