I'm looking for the highest DPS tank fit you can reach, concentrate only on defensive/cap modules, dont need any fight module, I only want the best tank EVE can offer (no named module btw):D Max for the moment is a Kronos tha can reach 1000DPS tanked but its definetly too far away with my skills

Highest DPS tank is one that's just enough to allow you to survive killing whatever you're killing. Anything over that is a waste of gank. There are many forms of tank - shield, armor, speed, sig radius, range, ECM, tactics, etc. Each has a purpose.
It's a silly question that doesn't mean anything without telling us what you need this tank to do. At best you'll get some answers from EFT warriors about their e-peen fictional ships they've created.

Drac what I want is a mad tank I can use to do missions, so while tank with a guy and leave him in background cause the tank is overpowered, I can use my main in a more aggressive fit to kill everything. Thats all. So I need a ship that I can use to warp inside, take the aggro and then warp with another character on a dps boat.

I get 1200 on my CNR against Gurista for example however I use a Gistii C X-large Booster. Why a C type well 2 reasons 1 its the cheapest at 1,6B and the other reason it allows me to drop alot of cap rechargers as it only uses 179 cap per cycle as apposed to the t2 that uses over 400.
Its expensive but I can fit 3 BCUs a Damage controler and 3 hardners. Or if i need more tank 1 BCU a damage control and 4 hardners.
It might be overkill but it sure is making lvl4s trivial hehe. I get about 580dps with abarlast and am currently saving for caldari launchers that will make well over 600.
I tried a fitting on the nightmare in EFT and nearly fell off my chair at over 2000 . That thing is just nuts.

I'd suggest a Domi. Not the best tank but sufficient for lvl 4s. Aggro all, release drones, bring in DPS ship. Then you get good DPS from your tank as well, unlike a missile boat.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

What level missions? You don't need a mad tank AND a DPS boat to run L4 missions for example - you can do it much faster with two mad DPS boats. Like I said, gank is a form of tank. On a single ship for L4 missions, my rule of thumb is roughly 1000 combined DPS+Defense regardless on how you get there. With two DPS ships, you can have something 300 Defense on each, and with 600 DPS output on each you'll slice through all the missions. In that case you just need enough buffer tank on each ship to survive long enough for the initial aggro.

Don't forget the Abaddon. With good armor skills and best named or T2 gear, I have been able to warp them into a plex, take all aggro, and yawn it off. That thing can take a pounding. " You will pay the price for your lack of vision." - Emperor Palpatine.

yea i fly dual domis, first tank flies in, takes aggro ( running dual LARs perma, and mission specific hardeners ) then release heavies ( droine navigation link so they can hit the frigs too ) then fly in second domi who releases either T2 Sentry drones or T2 meds drones and salvages ... if I need more repping second domi can perma dual Remote LARs,
works for me in WH against dual BSs as well as L4 missions

Ok, here's a cheap (124 million according to EFT) permarun omnitank
Drake
Lows: 4 x SPR II
Mids: Mag. Scat. Amp. II, Heat Diss. Amp. II, Invul. II, 3 x LSE II
Highs: DLA, 7 x HML II with Scourge Fury
Rigs: 3 x Core Defence Purger I
Implants: K?A1000, Squire CC4
With all skills at L5 we get EFT Defence of 892 (745 with Invul. off) and 379 DPS (including 99 from 5 x Hob. II).

Edited by: Irdia Freelancer on 26/03/2009 22:15:39 Want a 100% passive T1 tank vs 2 damage types? Faction mega/apoc. lows 8x shield power relays II's. rigs 3x core def field purger II's turrets - fit cap free min guns + drones
worst case vs em/therm - 1 large shield extender, 2x em faction resists, 1 therm faction resist ~1547 dps tank vs thukker - 1 large shield extender, 2x therm faction resists, 1 explo faction resist ~2164 dps tank
if go semi passive: 1 large shield extender 3x faction invul modules - cap lasts almost 19 min unifrom damage ~2244 dps tank, therm/kin damage ~2324 dps tank best explo/them ~2503 dps tank (eg vs thukker) worst em/therm ~1808 dps tank
want better cap? 2 large shield extender, 2 faction invul modules, cap lasts 31 min eg worst em/therm drops to ~1733 dps tank best explo/them ~2400 dps tank (thukker)
Semi passive uses some cap, vs heavy cap drain the defence can drop from easy to killing you very quickly - always watch your cap, only use invul modules as required, dont run them 100% of the time except as last resort.
Is not cheap and takes a few months to train to all level 5 skills, but has good dps tank. With only a fraction of the training you can get a good part of that in a few days - eg train to level 3 skills for the passive shield skills, or use invul modules and just not worry (only really has trouble with say heavy nos from blood raiders in blockade 4) about the passive skills.

Ok, I can get about 7200 as a permarun omnitank with top of the line stuff but I can't get anywhere near 4672 with Tech II. What are you using?

The Apoc/Mega above is reasonable although costs a good amount of isk. faction equip on that ship is something anyone can get as is always the faction gear in quantity on contract. I have one myself fully fitted that I will try on some level 5's when my current war ends and my training progresses a bit further.
If want to go crazy on skills and near unobtainable commander modules ...
How about an active tanking Chimera carrier? lows: Chelm's or Draclira's modified power diag mids Estamel's modified invul x3, Estamel's modifided shield boost amp x3, cap shield booster rigs 2x ccc II's, core def field purger II Full crystal set, KVA2000, KYA2000, seigewarfare mindlink Full fleet bonus cap stable at 49%, uniform damage a tiny ~17309 dps tank. Vs thukker is ~19306 dps tank. Can drop the KVA2000/KYA2000/mindlink as they do very little on an active tank.

you can get a slepnir commandship to tank for 6000 dps with the best officer fits as far as reality is concerned if u wanna have the best t2 tank I suggest the vulture. highs 5 t2 heavy misslelaunchers mids 1 xlarge booster II 3 shield amp II 1 em magnetic scattering II1 invul II lows all beta reactor control capacitor power relays not tek 2! as it is a waste of cpu and no extra power. 2 capacitor control circuits and full crystalset plus hardwire. optional is to use the lowgrade crystal set with out the hardwire as its a waste of isk will still laugh at any mission. becarful of lvl 5 with neut towers as they will **** your cap i was able to solo tank a lvl 5 with only 4 neut tower III with a modified version of the set up i described . but any more and your dead. thus vulture with the setup abouve can tank like a god and still hit with 5 heavy t2 cheers

Why the heck would you put missiles on a Vulture that has turret bonuses and no missile bonuses?

Unlike the rest of these guys I will give you a REAL TANK that you can afford.
And I am not going to fit any stupid officer modules to it.
This is a pure T2 tank:
[Broadsword, Tank Setup] Shield Power Relay II Shield Power Relay II Shield Power Relay II Shield Power Relay II
Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II
Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Barrage M Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Barrage M Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Barrage M Warp Disruption Field Generator I Medium Nosferatu II Medium Nosferatu II
Core Defence Field Purger I Core Defence Field Purger I
This gives you a defence of 1111, and a nice sig radius of 378. Done and done. Forget the rest.

With twice the DPS you can afford to lose a little bit of tank, and you'll still have enough on the NH to run L5's. If you take the same mods you have on your setup and put them on a NH, you'll end up with slightly less tank, but likely with 100+ DPS over your Vulture. It's a matter of preference, but I'd rather go with more gank than with more tank.
And with an Invul on your loadout you'll still get in trouble in L5's, whereas I'd use using resist amps, SPRs, and LSEs.

A nice Golem is more then enough for any level 4 mission...
Count on a 1000 to 2000 DPS tank depending on how much you are willing to spend on it. That is with room to push out cruise missiles as well, and some light/medium drones. With the advantage of picking your damage type on the Golem you can't go wrong in missions.

Tanks all lvl4 missions (Every mission I done for Caldari/Amar) and as long as you have full aggro you can just let your heavy T2 Ogres go from target to target... afk mission setup. --------------- What! Caldari have dps now... noooo Aye, T2 HAMs FTW!!!!! |

A paladin can fit and perma run: 4x Mission Specific Hardners Tech II 2x Large Armour Repairers Tech II 1x Damage Control Tech II 2x Auxiliary Nano Pump I
I canĘt check at the moment, but against sansha I think it gave 2,700dps+ perma tank.
Paladin is pure win for tank as itĘs extra marauder bonus is +cap rather than damage related. Also dropping a Auxiliary Nano Pump and a Cap Recharger II and you can fit a CC and a afterburnerą for over 2500dps perma tanked.
I will be using a Paladin for my Tank/Tractor/Salvage Alt. Currently hes in a Domią
