So here I am, back playing EVE again after a significant break. I started playing initially in 2004. Whats my first thought upon my return. WHERE THE HELL ARE THE ASTEROIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never in all the time I have played this game spent so much of my time searching for an asteroid field that actually has some asteroids in it. Everywhere you go the only thing you can see are peoples secure containers, no roids. What the hell happened to EVE. My opinion is this is a blend of gold farmers stripping new eden bare running multiple accounts with macros for 23hrs a day along with a significant increase in the amount of people playing EVE but no increase in the amount of available mining spots to compensate. CCP you really need to get this under control and sorted out, I really dont think I will be purchasing another timecode when this one expires under these circumstances, you can add all the additional functionality, tech 3 ships and updated graphics you want to this game but as long as a major problem like this is occurring I am really going to have to reconsider staying. Sorry if Im having a big *****ing session here but I was utterly shocked to discover just how bad being in the mining profession has become. Im certainly not going to start again, or start going down a new path in EVE thats for sure its not the way I like to play the game. What do other people think

Edited by: Clansworth on 29/03/2009 08:10:13 Y'know, after being gone so long, take a minute to look at what has changed since you've been gone.
- MANY more people in game, significantly increasing demand for minerals. - Improvements in mining hardware, allowing more rapid depletion of ore. - It may take longer to find the ore to mine (hint, get out of overly populated areas.. There's a reason there's no longer any operating mines in the Los Angeles basin.. They were first to be wiped out.) - Once you DO find the ore, you will find your income is greatly improved over years past. Higher demand, along with removal of some artificial price caps, have brought tritanium to nearly double what it was in 04. This combined with faster mining equipment (Hulk, Orca) will result in much more isk/hour from hi-sec mining.

Checklist to finding (plenty of) ore in highsec: * get out from the trade hub (at least 2-3 jumps away, preferably more) * get out of Caldari higher highsec (0.5 or 0.6 might be fine if you also avoid the trade hubs) * if all else fails (because you can't be bothered to move around too much), start learning which low-level missions have plenty of ore inside, and start mining them

Quite simple really...players increased....spawn rate of asteriods did not...hence stripped belts...

Go looking for gravimetric sites. They need cleaning up anyway to respawn for more sites. -------- Ideas for: Mining

I see a lot of people giving this advice, but being a long time prospector and doing it as a full-time past-time () I can say that it just simply isn't THAT easy (anymore).
Increase in mining and demand is a lot greater that it used to be in the good old days.
If you want to find big roids and belts in concord protected space, you really don't want to think about Caldari space, at all. 0.5 won't cut it. I'm not saying you can't make discoveries, but it's significantly harder that anywhere else.
Regions like Domain aren't easy either, it's of no benefit to move 5 jumps from Amarr, the belts still contain only pebbles. I've searched long and wide.
If you want to see belts like they used to be in the old days, you have to find minmatar 0.5 space preferrably the like that doesn't have stations.
It's really no longer sufficient to say "get out of caldari space" ------ Heart for isk, Balls for risk. |

Or you could wardec the industry corps in and around your system (the wardec mechanic can actually be used for more than griefing noob corps)
Can flip and kill / suicide the NPC-corp miners.

its not gold farmers. Your anger and frustration immediately assumes someone is doing something wrong. Basically it boils down to strip miners. I can strip a whole medium density belt in my hulk with a hauler alt in about 2 hours. Now image 3000 active miner in empire doing the same thing.
Tips:-
Avoid trade hubs Avoid systems in Primary trade up regions (The Forge, Sinq, Domain, H'matar) Do missions and mine the trit moons present. Trit Moons are worth more than lvl one time bonuses. Genesis is nice and amarr space is the only empire where the asteroids produce nocxium.

The miner have to look for the asteriods, rather than the asteriods popping up at the miners system - that is just lazy
I found 24 Veld roids in a level 1 mission last night, all between 20,000 and 50,000 M3.
And I am based in a 0.5 system where there are always roids around, except for maybe Weds and Thurs as they re-spawn on Fridays.

The asteroids are out there. Even on weekends. Even on weekdays when I log in after the europeans have had 14 hours to cherrypick the belts.
You have to wake pretty early to get "Dense Veldspar" in Caldari space, but high sec is NOT lacking in rocks.
Some places are home to mining corps. Leave those systems, or find a way to hamper their efforts and demoralize them. Wardecs, ore liberation, etc.
There are sooo many high sec belts that go untapped (except of course for being cherrypicked). I consistently find rocks just a couple of jumps from Jita, even.

QUOTE" There's a reason there's no longer any operating mines in the Los Angeles basin" Pointless comparison, this is a video game, not reality. QUOTE"Tips:-

Genesis is nice and amarr space is the only empire where the asteroids produce nocxium. Im in Amarr Space.
Let me ask you this, as someone has pointed out, the level of players has increased whilst the level of available ore has not, if things keep heading along that side of the scale then how long before even more people suffer. CCP should think asteroid fields respawning at different times of the day just for starters, as everyone playing on 1 single server around the globe means that depending on where you live in the world has a direct effect on if you are gonna find it difficult to find ore or not.

Nobody said you had to train long skills, set up a pos and moon mine.. he said start a level 1 mission (can be done in an ibis), clear it and go mine the rocks. "moon rocks" is his way of saying that the asteroids are huge.

1. Right click on asteroid. Select "type" (veldspar, crokite, etc.)
2. Click "size" tab. Select 20,000, 50,000 or 100,000
3. Start mining.
4. Profit!
EVERYONE SEEMS NORMAL UNTIL YOU GET TO KNOW THEM. |
